This was such a long, and dreadfully boring, read. The plot was fickle, the characters one dimensional, and as far as romance went, there was none. I think they kissed once, maybe. Thank God for Kindle Unlimited, I’m returning this book and moving on.

A Classic Hatfield and McCoy Story

Cousins Caleb and Zeke were raised on a ranch near the town of Maybelle. Both boys loved the ranch and dreamed of spending their lives on the ranch. As they reached maturity, Caleb fell in love with a woman named Eliza and they planned make their lives on the ranch. Zeke intervened in the relationship and convinced Eliza that her future should be with him and not with Caleb. Caleb was left broken-hearted and after a time began corresponding with Alexandra, a young lady from Virginia. They seemed compatible and decided to meet to see if they could work and have a family together on the ranch.

Zeke and Eliza purchased land nearby but did not develop the land as a ranch. They felt that Zeke was entitled to the ranch he grew up on and tried to figure out ways he could take the land from his cousin. Zeke did not put in fences and gates, necessary additions to keep horses and cattle safely. He schemed ways to take the land from his cousin.
Meanwhile, he tried to sabotage his cousin's ranch by pulling down fences.

Caleb and Alexandra continued to improve the ranch, adding barbed wire (a new invention) to help contain the livestock, which Zeke got tangled up in when he tried to take livestock.

Caleb and Alexandra were willing to work to improve their ranch. Zeke and Eliza felt they were entitled to the ranch. Two very different attitudes and outcomes.

Alexandra and Caleb

Alexandra can't believe it, how is it even possible? She's in the attic and notices a small trunk. When she goes to inspect it she discovers, baby shoes and clothing? At the very bottom she discovers something else, her birth certificate, but, oddly her father's name is listed but her mother's name has been scratched out. Then she discovers a small picture with a woman holding a baby and it's like looking in a mirror! She's had enough of her father and siblings scorn so she confronts her father! His reaction is not what she expected, he tears up the certificate and since she has hidden the picture he is unable to tear it up also. However, she notes it stolen from her room in the days that followed. Her father has always told her she wouldn't amount to anything and treated her more as a servant than a daughter. So when she tells him that she is leaving for the West, the only thing he has to say for himself is that if she leaves he will remove her from his life and she won't ever get anything from him. When she finally gets to Montana and meets Caleb Turner she knows she has made the right decision! Maybelle is a small town and Caleb's ranch sits two miles outside town. On her first day there Caleb is attacked in his own barn by, his cousin Zeke Abrams? Why? Then she finds out that Zeke stole his first fiancee Eliza for his own wife several years ago! Why? To find out read this great story by, Etta Foster! WOW talk about family feuds!

A Mail Order Bride to Heal his Heart by Etta Foster is in my top 10 right now. What an absolutely lovely book. Alexandra Clark has arrived in the West from Virginia to marry Caleb Turner. She, like many of her ilk, is running from something: a marriage to a man she despises. Her father has given her to pay his debts and as much as she loves her father, she can't do this for him, so she runs.

The exciting thing about this book is Caleb. He is slow to love but moves toward it every day. He doesn't say much, but shows his growing love through his actions. Unfortunately he has a crazy cousin doing everything he can to make Caleb nuts. His wife is an issue, too. So big a problem that townspeople warn Virginia before she even knows they exist. The characters in this book are to die for. Even the bad ones are so clearly drawn you feel as if you are there. It is a slow moving book, but that works, it seems to draw out the movement, in a good way, though. I can't tell you have much I like this book. Read it yourself and find out. I recommend it.

Alexandra Clarke is on her way to Montana from Virginia to meet her soon-to-be husband. A scar has been left on Alexandra's heart from the family she lived with, but so looking forward to the new life she deserves.
Caleb Turner is a quiet, shy and very handsome man. He likes Alexandra from the moment he saw her. She is beautiful, with the most unforgettable green eyes.
Caleb is trying to move forward from his previous relationship with Eliza, a very selfish, jealous and possessive woman.Eliza only thought about her own future, and did not care who she hurt along the way. Caleb keeps finding nasty notes posted to his gates of his property he realizes now they are threats from Zeke, his cousin.
Zeke is determined to get what is rightfully his, and he will go so far as to get rid of Alexandra if he has too.
A lot of emotions with twists and turns to keep you guessing in this story. A wonderful and enjoyable read.

Trouble in Paradise

Alexandra, a mail-order bride from Virginia goes out west to the small town of Maybelle to meet up with Caleb. She grew up without knowledge of her mother and not a very good home life.
Caleb had been engaged before, but she left him for his cousin "Zeke" , whom she married 3 years before. Zeke believes that everything that Caleb has should be his and the harassment escalates after Alexandra arrives at the ranch.
Between the two of them trying their best to learn more about each other and the escalating harassment and violence against them by his relatives it becomes a very stressful and dangerous time.

This is my first book by Etta I have read! She had me from the first word of the story. SHE writes a intriguing romance for all. Alexandra had a miserable life and when I say miserable I mean miserable. She felt very unloved and had good reason to feel that way. Clarke was lonely and needed someone like Alexandra not only as a help mate but also as a friend. This story has touched my heart and I will put this on my to reread list. It is wonderfully written with a sentiment that will touch your heart. Don't pass this remarkable story up it is so good I will be looking into other books by this author.

ONE MARVELOUS DELIGHT!!!
What a ride! Etta brought out all thrills and spills in this tough as nails, on point realism with twisting, coiling spins, bursting with emotions. The tension is thick, the drama intense, the danger and suspense is skyrocketing. Dealing with all the trials and tribulations, ups and downs, propel this baby to life skillfully. The characters are authentic and personable with depth and qualities make it easy to relate. The scenes are graphically detailed there's no trouble picturing each scenario as they play and blend fluidly. Fantastic job Etta, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Beautiful and exciting love story

I received an ARC of this book from the author, Etta Foster, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this beautiful and exciting love story about Alexandra and Caleb. This is a book I had trouble putting down once I started reading it. I loved reading about the beautiful Montana ranch and the horses. The writing was so descriptive, I felt like I was there in person. There was adventure as well as the love story. The extended epilogue was the perfect ending to this great book. I highly recommend it and look forward to reading the next book by this author.

This was a very heartwarming story about Caleb and Alexandra, who both have skeletons in their closet and just want their pasts to go away so that they can move on. They were both very likable characters, and it was a good story about 2 people who will stand by their man/woman through it all and have total patience for each other. It was hard to put the book down, especially as things got more intense near the end. It does have a happy ending that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Can they both learn to trust again?

This was another great read by Etta Foster. Caleb and Alexandra are very likeable characters and you want Zeke and Eliza to get what's coming to them for creating all the heartbreak and misery. It's a HEA with an extended epilogue that ties everything together very well.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review. Thanks Etta!

This could have been a great read. However the reason for the three stars is that I found it a bit too long. I didn't get to know very much about Alexandra's past, neither was there much of an explanation of Zeke's actions and nothing about Eliza and her history with Caleb. The language flows well, but some details could be cut back, to make to story move forward a bit better. After all hat, it's worth reading, especially if you are after nice clean romance.

Alexandra had a rough life growing up. Always being told, and shown by her father that she wasn't going to amount to anything in life. One day she gets fed up with it and responds to a mail order bride ad for Caleb Tucker in Montana. Caleb's already been spurned by one intended and is nervous to even venture into love again. You'll fall in love with the characters and their progression into love.

This is a book about a heart broken, lonely rancher, Caleb, and his mail order bride, Alexandra. I found this book to be well written, with an interesting story line and well developed characters. I like watching Alexandra and Caleb both grow throughout the book, conquering fears and letting down walls. This is the third book written by Ms. Foster that I've read and I am enjoying watching this new author flourish and grow.

I received an advanced copy of this book. This review is voluntary and reflects my honest opinions.

Alexandra never felt part of her family when she confronts her father his non answer is enough for her to want to leave. She becomes a mail order bride and heads west.
Caleb lost the love of his life to his evil cousin. He’s hoping Alexandra can help heal his heart.
This was a nice clean love story. Good versus evil as his cousin tries to steal his ranch. I love the romance that unfolds between Caleb and Alexandra! This was a good clean book. I recommend this book!

A feisty woman meets a pillar of strength.

Etta Foster is absolutely brilliant and has given us another winner with this book. I love the unusual storyline and amazing characters. Caleb is everyone's dream of a man and Alexandra has pulled herself from a horrible, mentally abusive father for most of her life. Now that they're threatened by Caleb's cousin and wife, Alexandra stands resilient and strong beside Caleb as they fight for their ranch. A fantastic page turner.

Caleb and Alexandra have had hardships in the past but now they both want a fresh start together. However, the past keeps coming up to cause trouble time and time again. Very heartfelt book! Takes you back when times were simpler or we’re they? Everyone has skeletons and how you deal with them can make or break you

This book leaves you feeling uplifted from start to finish. Caleb and Alexandra are both from broken families, but they remain strong and hopeful. Their love moves slowly, but it is apparent that they are both only interested in a relationship and family that works as a team.
This story has intrigue and a building romance. I highly recommend it!

This is a good story set in the old west. Caleb & Rebecca have a sweet relationship. There has to be some bad people to make a story interesting. There are 2 that complicate their lives. I marked it down 1 star because there are swear words used some. I received an arc. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Caleb is looking for a wife. His first try didn’t work and he has always wanted a family. He is part of a family feud that has been going for years. Alexandra wants a family because she didn’t group up in the traditional one. She moved to Montana to be Calebs mail order bride. Between cousin drama and old wounds to the heart this story as it all.

A Strong Mail Order Bride

Alex is a strong woman who doesn’t realize her own strength. She’s answered the advertisement of a man who doesn’t realize his own strength. This is a great story of individual growth and the strength of a duo. Written well and interestingly.
