Aurora Realm Fairy Tales #2

The Magic of the Aurora Light

Rate this book
My name is Alfie. I’m nothing special. Just your average nineteen-year-old girl doing her best at life. Then that happens.

The unexpected. The impossible. The magic.

When I first set foot on St. James Manor, a charming old house my parents bought and turned into a retreat for writers, I feel a sense of connection with the magical place. One night, I’m inadvertently transported to another realm.

Disorientated and afraid of my new, mysterious surroundings, I’m found by two dark warrior lords. Despite having a fun and adventurous soul, I find nothing exciting as these two gorgeous warriors, Caleb and Felix, take me back to their camp and proceed to grill me about my background. When a group of bandits pursues me, and I am lost in the wild, dangerous woods, an alluring vision-in-white of a lord appears. His name is Geoffrey, and his enthralling charm fascinates me.

Alfie and the Seven Demon Lords story is a reverse harem fantasy romance.

About the author

Alexia C. Praks

Alexia is a self-confessed hermit whose undying love for books leads her to naively abandon the generous warnings of failure from numerous individuals and dive into the publishing world to claim a spot as an author.

In the romance realm, she thinks anything goes as long as there’s love involved—be it contemporary, historical, fantasy, paranormal, or a combination of any of these. In the young adult territory, she leans more toward fantasy, science-fiction, dystopia, mystery, and of course, romance.

Alexia lives in the historic, student-infested Dunedin, Aotearoa (land of the long white cloud), aka New Zealand. It’s a lone, isolated, picturesque country with ranges of exquisite mountains and breathtaking rivers, which she considers a perfect setting for her reclusive lifestyle.

Apart from writing and occasionally losing herself in her own dream realm, she loves self-cultivation, is fascinated by Chinese metaphysics, and spends her spare time watching anime and TV dramas and, of course, reading books and manga.

Much better than the previous book, but still missed the mark.

I don't know what is with Alexia and this series. I usually absolutely adore her writing style and live her books.

I just didn't feel the connection between the characters and the reader. The dialogues were flat and sometimes slightly unbelievable. I also think too much was left unresolved by the end of the book. I really hoped to give this book a higher rating than this.

The story of a girl who sometimes likes to think of herself as a boy and cuts her long hair to look like a boy.

She has an experience that evening and is transported from her home to a different realm where she is mistaken as a boy and doesn’t let in that she is really a girl to continue the charade.

She finds the men in this new realm wear masks and wonder why but all answers are shoved aside for the presence because there are invaders and raiders in this realm that these men are trying to capture. They succeed in capturing some of the new friends she has made and the men go all out to get them back.
During the ensuing battle she makes an astonishing discovery about the nature of these men and why they wear masks.

She is taken to a castle where she hopes to find a way to return to her own realm.

This is a fantasy with time travel involved that exposes the reader to another realm entirely and let’s us wonder if our girl can get back to her own realm and reality or if she is doomed to remain in this new realm for the rest of her life.

I recommend this book for all those who like fantasy as a way to escape from the doom and gloom of this world at present. The story continues in the next book and I am looking forward to seeing what happens then, if she is found out to be a girl not a boy and if she can return to the Earth Realm.

Alfie

This was a slow start for me. I pushed through and actually am liking the story line. I’m excited to learn how things play out with Alfie and these seven lords. Does she lose her pure qi or does she become so strong she becomes their queen?

Interesting story

Interesting story line and well written characters. Its interesting to see this young woman grow into herself but confused how everyone feels she us a boy.

Interesting and fast paced

Excellent read that pulls one right into the plot but I disliked the foul language. First of all using God's name in a fantasy just rips apart the newly created universe and totally destroys the image. He has no part in the fantasy world. Second, the use of "fuck" seems forced and adds nothing to the plot. Why would beings from another world use human slang terms for sexual intercourse? It looks like a sophomoric attempt to appear tough and detracts from the plot. The characters act like teen boys trying to impress with their bravado which, considering their power, looks immature and attention seeking. The writer has talent and needn't rely on such crude tools to advance the story.

Besides kissing (which doesn't actually seem to be what you think it is), there's no real romance. Just attraction. Which is okay, but not what i was expecting of a RH. The world building was okay. The story felt like it was written by a middle schooler though. Maybe it's just me and being used to more refined writing styles. The art on the edition cover i got was pretty though. I skimmed a lot. And I never skim.

With AI illustrations on the cover, I must admit to wondering whether any of the story was digitally produced. Certainly, some of the opening chapters are a bit circular, which is often an indicator. However, the story did improve. I liked the premise of a young girl moving between two worlds, although I am surprised that given the amount of hugs she got from the demon lords, that none of them realised that she was a girl.

I find myself not connecting with the FMC that much, besides I find the first two MMC, Felix and Caled, specially Felix, tiring... Like they're not my cup of tea. The mix between fantastic elements and modern elements takes off a little bit of "fantasy"
The beauty and the beast retelling is a classic so how it is desplay here is pretty cool. The beast wears a mask to be human it's pretty cool and reminds me of acotar somehow, yet idk if it's enough to put me through all the series.

Magic, excitement, & new people to befriend.

I enjoyed the story very much. I was intrigued by the aurora being a gateway to another realm. The cultural mixture in Alfie's background makes the story even better. Try to watch for missing words (I'm from the US) - a, was, the; were occasionally missing.

Interesting concept. Slow burn RH, w/ a bit of mistaken gender. The writing can be a little repetitive, but not poor editing, just style.
