Plato Pierce was almost a rock star until the rest of the band fell through a twelfth-floor window in the midst of a recording session and went splat on the street below. That was a decade ago.
He now earns a living toiling in obscure tedium as an overnight copy-editor for the underperforming National Intruder, a Miami-based gossip magazine.

But there’s another complication. Plato’s late Ponzi-scheming father left half a billion dollars hidden around the country for his son to find in his spare time.
