I’m still recovering from the chaos of the Trials, but there’s no time to fall behind.
Strange things are afoot at the Academy of Unpredictable Magic, and somehow, I’ve found myself in the middle of it all again.
On top of that, even as I start to fall harder for the four men who have worked their way into my heart, an unexpected revelation threatens to upend everything between us.
But Elliot Sinclair doesn’t go down without a fight.
I’m just not sure who I should be fighting…
Thief is the third book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series, a medium-burn reverse harem story intended for ages 18+, featuring a badass chick and the four sexy men who fall in love with her.
These really are interesting short reads. Again I enjoyed the mystery of the plot. I liked the battle scene and how Eliot discovered how she could use her magic. Eliot is also finally ready to open up to the guys completely and trust in them. I think I've found my favourite guy, Demitri, dark and brooding. A really nice book overall.
The spark is gone. My thoughts up until the end. So 3.5 stars but barely.
Continuing from the previous book, Ellie is unconscious. Whilst it was nice to see a couple of other POVs, ultimately it was a time skip so the guys are all on the same page and everyone gets along. Feels like it took out the character growth focusing more on destination and not the journey.
Whilst more in control in this one and finally ending the can I can’t I, you’ve got the biggest cliche for someone from a powerful family. And Alyssa really needs muting.
More sex, magic, secrets revealed and more questions left unanswered. I did enjoy the ending so not done with this series just yet.
Well Sadie has done it again! Another amazing book in this series and it just keeps getting better and better! I can't wait to see what else this series has in store! Book 4 here I come!
Seems in this series, the books just keep getting better. Love it! Almost finished with 3rd book. So incredible. Draws you in immediately. Perfect balance between action, emotion and steamy hot scenes. I'm in love!
Thief by Sadie Moss is a medium-burn paranormal academy reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett. This is the third book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series.
This is the third series of Sadie's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. She does an amazing job pulling me into the story. I can't help but binge them in one sitting.
I love the relationship between Elliot, Cam, Asher, Roman, and Dimitri. I really enjoyed that we got Dimitri, Cam, and Elliot's point of view throughout the story. It really brought the story to life.
I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Threat so I can get more of Elliot and her men's story.
Sarah did an amazing job on the narration! I love that she uses different voices/tones for each character. She really knows how to bring a story to life.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romances, academy romances, or reverse harems.
So the series continues and the storyline is great like the previous books in the series. A mystery in which Elliot always seems to be in and has to solve. But my finally is for that her relationship with the guys is finally set. I enjoyed the read and cont wait for next one to come out to see what other adventures she gets into. :)
Someone is stilling the students powers, and Elliot is determined to figure out who and why. But, that leads to trouble she never expected, and she finally decides what she truly wants from the guys, but Dmitri is still giving her problems. I was so frustrated with him, and I think he's a major coward. I can't wait to read more though.
Book: Academy of unpredictable Magic Book 3 Thief Author: Sadie Moss Recommend: Yes Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ Age recommendation: 16-30+ Years
Plot: Elliot continues on her relationship with the boys, but finds more things in the way. This year they find themselves up against something that is stealing other students magic. Elliot also finds herself with a new power called mirroring as well. Elliot and Dmitri work out here issues, as she explodes at him after meeting his parents. She finds out he is meant to marry another person that his parent had arrange when he as 3. In the end they work out a demon is living on the roof of the school stealing everyone powers and making doppelgängers out of the power. Elliot, Roman and Dmitri end up killing the demon after it steals Cam magic and manage to give everyone else’s power back to them. The book end with them all living at Romans house and talking about how they are all in a relationship and sharing Elliot.
My feelings:
I loved this book! A few extra spicy chapters then normal, and a lot of action. Now that the relationship is established im gonna assume there is gonna Abe so many issues with it in the next book.
So glad that Dmitri finally got his shit together and gave in to Elliot! He is my fav from the start! I always love the dark and broody type. Roman is just to die for! Im so glad he is so open with what he wants from the start, but man I wanna know all his secrets! Im starting to think that his parents either were horrible and did something bad and got them all killed or Roman did something with his demon summoning and got them all killed. Cam is just beautiful as per usual. Always so sweet. Asher oh you sweet and romantic soul. I recon life with him would be all sunshine and rainbows.
“Can’t or won’t? I’m right here, Dmitri. I’m right fucking here!” I push against his hold on me like I’m trying to shove our bodies together. My heart is racing, and I can feel myself flushing, hot all over. “Goddamn it! You drive me insane. You’re such an assholes sometimes, but I still want you so bad it fucking kills me. And if you really don’t want me, then just tell me, and I’ll leave you alone. I’ll get over it eventually—I’ll figure out some way to move on. But don’t tell me you want me and can’t have me, because that’s a load of bullshit, and you know it. I’m right here, and I want you! I want your heart. I want your mind. I want your crankiness and your moodiness and those little moments of sweetness that slip through and make me feel like I really am a goddamn princess. I want every single annoying, frustrating, irritating thing about y—” I don’t get the rest of my sentence out, because before I can say anything else, Dmitri smashes his mouth against mine and kisses me”

Theft, Threats & Blossoming Love!!😳🔪💘🔥 (Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Although darkness shrouded this story it somehow felt lighter & shorter than the previous books to me!?📚
**Contains some spoiler type of info!🙈**
'Thief' opens with Elliot still in the magical coma caused by a spell in 'Trials' but it's now 3 months later!!😞😢 Her 4 men & sister Maddy are all staying in Roman's home together. They've all grown really close in the stressful & upsetting time, while they've searched for ways to bring her back to them!!😍 They're finally successful a week before they all need to return to the Academies.🌹🎉,
Throughout the period of this book the relationship between Roman, Asher, Cam & Elliot strengthens as she allows her heart to open to each of them.😍💘 There are some hot, steamy scenes, that I hope will continue to burn hotter in future books?!🔥🔥 During this time Elliot & Dimitri have a huge, pain filled argument & he tells her a truth about himself she just can't deal with & it breaks her heart. They stop talking completely from that point onwards!!😲💔😢
After a fairly low-key & quiet start to the term, shock & horror are instilled in everyone, some student's magic is stolen from them!!😱 This leaves a dark pall over the Academy yet again, as the Unpredictable Magic Community is once again under a sly & insidious attack!!😭 After being accused herself, & months of attacks, Elliot decides she can't do a worse job than anyone else in solving who's attacking the student's. One of their own group then becomes a victim!!😭💔😭
This is another good addiction to this series.😎 It's well paced with the romance, steam & action keeping you gripped throughout the entire story!👍 I'm looking forward to book #4!!🌟 (Am I alone in thinking the sisters absentee Father is the most likely candidate for being 'The Big Bad'??😏🙋👀)
Things are really heating up in these stories! The relationships between these 5 are coming along nicely. I really love all these guys for different reasons. Some are compassionate others are outgoing but they are all open minded. Dimitri drops a BOMB on parents day to Elliott.
There is evil magic afoot in this story. Magic being taken away from students. After being blamed for doing it Elliott decides to clear her name.
I listened to this on audio. Sarah Puckett is the narrator. She does such a great job. I could easily listen to her narration all day!
3.5 Stars Someone is still out to rid the world of unpredictables and we have no idea who it is. This villain has no problem using people for his own gain and it's clear they will let nothing stand in their way. When people started having their powers literally taken from them was so horrible and painful for them. At this point I'm worried the villain will continue till the end and I really could do without a long drawn out saga. I'm starting to questions everyone and anyone especially Romans ex and the dean. Everyone seems so decent but who really knows. Hopefully the gang will learn to use and control their powers together to become as powerful as possible to take out the threat!
Good storyline. Well written. Indie author. So 4 stars. Howsomever...
... Spoilers ...
Powerful mages with unique skill sets regarded as outcasts? You gotta be kidding me? Government, corporations, law enforcement, research groups, and more would be standing in line. Pay scales would be phenomenal
I started reading RH when there wasn't a lot out there. Most of the early authors focused on the storyline and the tropes weren't yet established or obligatory. A lot of today's RH is about as cookie cuttered as the Romance genre (which I don't read). There are some tropes which I wish had run their course. By book three, the sex scenes are about as interesting as a clinical manual. It just gets repetitive. Characters in a constant state of paralibido arousal? Get a life. By book three, I'm really losing interest in the FMC's constant angry, self doubting, whining, angst monologues. These people are in their twenties? They act like teenagers. The scenarios change but so much else is just repetitive. People even rehash the same issues and pretty much repeat conversations.
Once again, the people in charge don't really take charge. These folks are how old? There's still not competent security or investigative networks? There's a monster-sized bird on your roof with a huge magical signature and it's a surprise. Elliot saw the mage and he saw her. That's a big whoop. She says nothing. Nobody asks? No forensic memory review mages? Artists? Gee, someone might recognize a member of their community. Some of this just seems kind of sloppy. Beta readers really missed this one?
Well... At least she hasn't wandered off and gotten herself kidnapped. But there's still time for her father to emerge as a nefarious player.
Ok, so I think the storyline in this book upped the ante from book 2. I enjoyed the mystery going on and how the random thing Elliott saw was the key. I didnt expect the story to go down that route, but it was amazing how Elliott, with the help of Demetri and Roman helped save one of her loves and the others from what happened to them. I liked the showdown and think its going to culminate in a big baddie showdown at the end of the series! I think the addition of Kendall into the group was a very great idea. I really like her and hope maybe she gets a happy ending or a short story somewhere. She is totally growing on me. I think it was adorable to see some milestones overcome in the beginning with the shocking ending of book 2 still being dealt with. Made me want to grab Demetri and just hug him and cuddle him. I also am loving how the relationship between Elliott and Maddie, and now between Maddie and Elliott's harem. Looooove it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't know what else to say about Sarah's amazing narration of this series. I got all choked up with Demetri in the beginning of the book. I think her inflections and feelings really shone in that moment. I also love the tension she helps elevate between Elliott and Demetri. She make Asher and Cam so amazing for Elliott, you can feel the growing love between everyone. 5/5 easily from me. I am trying to take a long time with book 6 because I don't want this series to end, but its hard not listening to more haha.
Thief is the third book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series, and I think it might be my favorite so far. As with the first two books it is fast-paced with interesting action and good, sexy heat. Each book I have been curious what danger heroine Elliot was going to get herself into because I have enjoyed the different main challenges very much. My heart still mostly belongs to Roman and Dmitri, but I enjoy Asher and Cam as well. This author's writing is always so smooth and clean that I fly right through her books, and I can't express enough how much that means to someone who comes to a screeching halt every time there is an error in a book. I'm intrigued by Roman's past and loved the conflicts (and resolution) Elliot encountered with Dmitri this go around. Very much looking forward to the next book. 4.25 Stars
I honestly have not finished it. I’m giving it 2.75 stars bc it does have the potential to be good. I just can’t get over how self conscious she is. She’s super insecure and it honestly made me a little sad and irritated. Don't get me wrong, its okay to be insecure, but its the third book...
I am going to start this book back up in a few days. I’m hoping the author is using her habits of insecurity to set a firm starting point for her growth. Hopefully I’m right and she’ll grow into this insecurities and reach her potential.
I’ll write another review down the line.
edit cant bring myself to start this up again, may leave it at DNF
I really enjoyed book 1, for book 2 I admit I skimmed a bit, but I just couldn't keep reading book 3.
It felt to me like there wasn't much dialogue or even things happening, and we spent most of our time listening to Elliot's inner dialogue. She would recap what has happened previoulsy, or re-hash the same things we've been listening to for the last 2 books. And even when we were learning of new things there would be recap of what happened in the last few weeks instead of us actually experiencing it with her.
stop repeated everything from your first, second and thrid book, at some point you must realise people know whats going on or they wouldn't be reading the rest of the series. sorry ! other than that it wasn't bad :)
SYNOPSIS (of all 6 Books): This series is set in a world where there are witches but the humans do not know about them. The FC (Elliott) has been supporting her younger sister since their mother died and their father deserted them. She discovers that she has “unpredictable magic” which means she must go to an academy to learn how to control it. In the magic world unpredictable magic is looked down on as some kind of abomination and those with it are treated as lesser. Whilst each Book has its own specific sub-story the main story arc covers all 5 books and relates to an attack on predicable magic and those that practice it. There are obligatory mean girls and ultimately a HEA.
The books are well written and the editing is not bad although there are a few errors but not enough to really impact the readers enjoyment. For me, however, I found the story to be lacking in originality - FC who thought she had no magic but does, turns out to be an amazing witch and saves the world while having an adoring harem that follows her around like puppies. I could live with that as very few of this kind of book are original if the series was well written or had depth. I found this series to be lacking both.
Each book (until Book 5 with the climax) seems to follow the same pattern. There is some kind of mystery, the FC is the only one who can solve it and save the day and she does. This is despite the fact that there are stronger witches around. Apparently the FC is the only one clever enough and strong enough to be the hero. This is despite the fact that the FC’s powers are not particularly strong (until the end) or that she knows how to use them. The MCs are more for window dressing that actual action.
There are the required mean girls but the story line for them makes little sense. Why they suddenly decide to pick on Elliott is lame to begin with but why they then, despite Elliott having nothing to do with them, continue to harass her makes no sense. It’s as if the author decided that this element was required to add drama but it doesn’t’ as it has no real context or rationale to it.
There are disjoints in the story, like the mean girls, where things are introduced seemingly just to add drama but again, with no real context and are then dropped. By example, the FC’s father ran out on them when she was young. He suddenly pops up in Book 4. The FC, who is supposed to be strong and kick ass says nothing about his prior behaviour or anything. She just sucks it up, hugs him and says nothing. That goes completely against her character. Other than this meeting there is only one other very brief meeting with the FC’ father. He plays no real role and it makes you question why he was even introduced into the story. There’s no explanation as to why he ran out on his family or what he has been doing or anything. Another drama tactic was the whole engagement/wedding storyline which seems to have been introduced just to provide a cliffhanger. It comes out of nowhere and then just disappears. Again, not integral to the story just a mechanism to try and introduce drama.
The background for Roman makes little sense as well except as a lame attempt to show Roman as “damaged” and “angsty”. Whilst you can understand an accident where one of his family die it is hard to construct a situation where they all stand around and wait for him to touch them and drain them. The author doesn’t bother to explain how this is supposed to have happened or why Roman was not locked up as a consequence.
There’s a decent amount of heat in the sex scenes and they are not too plentiful. The main problem for me was the lack of world and character building and the superficiality of the plot. It could have been better.
Why did you read this book? I am reading through a couple of RH series I’ve put on the back burner.
What format did you read this book in? Read it as an ebook on Kindle.
Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment? I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.
What genres do you think this book belongs to? Fantasy, Mystery, Paranormal, Romance, Suspense
What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILERS When the MC meets Ashers family. They are so nice and there are so many of them. LOL
Who would you suggest this book to? Anyone who likes academy romances RH and magic adventures.
What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS Sadly, this book killed the series for me. The scene where her classmates try to kill her because the mean girls says it’s her fault that peoples magic is being taken… It’s all a bit much. I get being scared, but everyone knows that the mean girl is full of it. AND MC proved herself by winning the trials in the last book. The idea that ALL of her classmates turned on her was ridiculous and over the top. Not to mention the MC is reaching Mary Sue status now. I am glad she decided not to push the guys away… but her personality takes a 180. The things I liked about the MC in the beginning are slowly being lost (her “don’t give a F attitude”). Also the lack of world building isn’t getting better. (HOW did none of the experts including Roman the professor who knows about demons, not figure out there was a demon on the loose? Where is their government in all of this?) Overall, I lost interest in the series unfortunately.
Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? Insta-attraction. Bullying. MC seems to be the only one who can figure out the mysteries. Everyone starts to hate the MC for a silly reason.
How intense are the intimacy scenes? They are intense and vividly detailed. Getting caught kink. Hate Sex.
At what “burn” level is the romance? This one burns at medium-hot.
Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender? There are four love interests, all of them males. Cam- Teleporter and magic absorption. Asher- Read and control minds. Dmitri- Duplicate himself and phase through objects. Roman- Professor, necromancer, and demon summoner.
Any trigger warnings? Racial and Religious: Racism, Racial Profiling, Microaggressions, Prejudice Mental Health: Trivializing Mental Illness, Romanticized Mental Illness, PTSD, Emotional Abuse, Panic Attacks, Trauma, Child Abandonment, Nightmares about Traumatic Events Disabilities: Curing of Disabilities, Seizures, Paralyzed Sexual Content: Explicit Sex Scene, Violent Sex Violence and Death: Death, Death of a Loved One, Graphic Deaths, Murder, Gore, Escalating Violence, Described Blood, Graphic Violence Other: Slut Shaming, Body Shaming, Female Oppression, Bullying, Profanity
I feel like a broken record at this point, but the pacing of this story is just weird as hell. Everything is being told to us instead of letting us live through it with the characters. It makes the whole story have less of an emotional impact.
*slight spoilers below*
The ending with the bird was so rushed that I didn’t even get to process it. She passes out and then it just time skips. There’s no break, no “let’s think about this.” It just jumps a week forward and talks about break.
I absolutely hate Dmitri and Elliot’s dynamic. I love a broody asshole just as much as the next person, but the lack of communication is appalling. Their resolution was a quick bang in a closet and suddenly their relationship is okay.
Elliot should not have been the one to go to Dmitri. His ass should have been the one to come to her first, to apologize. Which, by the way, he never did. He belittled her, demeaned her, and made her feel like shit, and then in the end she even says something like “I learned a lesson not to assume someone’s feelings.”
No, that’s not what happened. At all, and it frustrates the hell out of me because I love Elliot’s character, but she failed me with him. Dmitri still hasn’t apologized. And I *highly* doubt he will. It’s suddenly okay that he has a fiancè, suddenly okay that he made her feel like crap, suddenly okay that he decided to ignore her, suddenly okay that he didn’t stick up for her, suddenly okay that he’s wishy-washy all because they had heated, angry sex in a closet.
No. Just... no. I don’t even want to read the next book because I know it’ll be more of the same, but I know I will just because I keep *hoping* that the story will get better and that the men will start being... well, men. I really do think this story is interesting, but I’m just so frustrated the entire time I read the books, that it makes me unable to truly love them.
Thief Academy of Unpredictable Magic, Book 3 By: Sadie Moss Narrated by: Sarah Puckett
Sadie Moss pens another amazing book in her “Academy of Unpredictable Magic” series. I love the imaginative world and characters she created, it is fascinating and magical. I love the lead characters, they continue to evolve and their relationships and bonds grow stronger. This book up weeks after the 2nd book ended, Elliott who was comatose finally wakes up, just in time to start her second year in the Academy. The unpredictables are still being looked down upon by the magical community and this semester brings more problems to the school. Someone or something is stealing magic from students, leaving them empty and stripped of all power. Some point fingers and try to lay blame so Elliott takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of it and find out what the thief is. The heat continues to rise for Elliott and her boys, they are all ok with sharing and she is set out to love each one of them. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted with plenty of drama, action, angst, twists and turns, some thrilling suspense and some hot romance. I am looking forward to what comes next for these great characters. Sadie Moss, thank you for another amazing story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett is a talented narrator and voice artist. She continues to bring these characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. She does an amazing job portraying the characters and projecting their passion and emotions into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧
Thank you 🎧@AudiobookObsession #AudiobookObsession #AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧
this one was CRAZY!! full of action, drama, suspense, bad bitchery(!), the works
it started out with me thinking it might be a bit slower than the last ones, but that went out the window INCREDIBLY quickly
i really like where this one took the plot. it elevated and expanded on what has been happening in the first two books which is building up the plot for the next few and eventual ending. it’s got a heavier mystery element to it now which i LOVE
the romance factor was turned the fuck UP. we had great moments with all of the fellas
also i’d just like to remind everyone of my beautiful angel baby asher prince and how PERFECT he is. especially during their sex scene. that fucking scene had me LOSING MY MIND i was so excited. and he is so perfect. did i mention that he is perfect??
also, definitely giving a shout out to dmitri’s sex scene. man, those two are some drama but wow are they HOT.
the ending was also awesome! all the details we learned throughout were definitely put into place and used effectively where you’re reading it like ‘OH YEAH THAT OMG’. i was absolutely hooked. plus there was a lot of emotional character development for elliot in the final scene especially which i really appreciated 🥰
i’m very intrigued to learn about the drama happening to them, dmitri’s whole situation, and roman’s past 👀
Thief is the third book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series and continues the story of Elliot and her four men.
Thief was such a good book because it wasn’t just the romance and the action that made it an amazing book, it was the characters and the relationship between them. All four men are so different from each other but the one that stood out the most in this book was Dmitri. Elliot and Dmitri have a weird kind of relationship and it’s hard for Dmitri to show his emotions. I think that Dmitri was my favorite of all four in this book. And keep in mind that I don't usually pick favorites because I love all four of ’m.
So yeah I picked a favorite for once but that doesn’t mean I don’t love Cam, Asher and Roman! I cannot wait to see what sort of trouble Elliot gets in in the next book in the series, Threat! I’m sure that it will be another amazing, fast paced and well-written book!
