Book Three of the Award-Winning Fox Walker Suspense Novels
An unsuspecting community in danger from environmental pollution.A kidnapping that isn’t what it seems. And a greedy secret some are willing to repeatedly kill for to hide the truth.
When a man goes missing after hiking into the wilderness to retrieve water samples for testing, expert trackers Fox Walker and Nataya are sent in to find him. But instead of finding the man, they find evidence of murder and a cover up.
Very quickly the act of looking into the truth puts the lives of Walker, Nataya and others in danger, requiring them to rely on some behind-the-scenes help from friends they’ve worked with on previous missions. At the same time they must also decide whether or not to trust the help of someone new—someone who forces Nataya to face a deep-seeded desire for revenge.
With a long-held secret about Nataya’s past coming to light, a secret plan made with the FBI, and a menacing secret fueled by greed, there’s deception and double crosses unfolding to the very end. And for the first time in Walker’s many years of experience, he finds himself dealing with the dark underbelly of society where people are paid to make problems disappear, including those who cause them. Which means, if it’s discovered Walker and Nataya are looking for the truth, there’ll be no hesitation to deal with them in the same way … and the search and rescue mission for the missing hiker just might be their last.
You can call me a fan, maybe a super fan. Walker and Natya have kept me reading until 4 o'clock in the morning and I 'm still digesting the ending. I hope you'll love it too.
The action ramps up and Quillen's third novel in the Fox Walker series reads more like a mystery/thriller than a romantic suspense-I think it's going in a good direction. Every chapter has a cliff hanger!
One of the things I like best about this series is the wilderness course information that can be found throughout the series. There is still a good love connection in there - a strong relationship between Nataya and Fox Walker, the two main characters, that continues to grow and develop over the series, but that is simply who they are, not the main focus of the story in this book.
Fox Walker and Nataya's tracking and survival skills create a believable reason for them to get involved in solving crimes or possible crimes. Law enforcement and others to call upon them to find missing persons or help in investigations.
The author did a great job weaving several plot lines together, and isn't afraid to have multiple bad guys and good guys. I like being challenged! At times I had trouble keeping track of who was who, but things became clear as the action moved along and all story lines were wrapped up satisfactorily in the end. I particularly liked the character of Karen. For some reason she seemed very believable to me and I was rooting for her and a man she grows to care for.
Quillen's descriptive passages featuring the natural world, which it is obvious she loves and knows a lot about, are spot on and add to the enjoyment of the story. I originally rated this a 4-star, due to print errors in the manuscript, but those are being corrected, so I have revised my rating.
All in all, Duplicity is a solid addition to the series! Looking forward to reading the next one!
In their third appearance, Indy Quillen’s characters Fox Walker and Nataya lead us straight into a deadly mystery as their business of locating missing persons discovers a victim of foul play in the Colorado wilderness instead. As the storyline flows with the current of a polluted watershed, the dangers grow well beyond the pair’s initial mission to encompass threats to their client, a dependent community, and an unlikely ally met along the way.
Throughout, the interconnections Walker feels with his environment and all living creatures translate into concerns not easily set aside, and challenge us to do our part to preserve society as well as the world we are all just passing through. As always, admiration of her main character grows through Quillen’s writing.
Overall, five earned stars make this another episode not to be missed for fans of this quiet, centered, natural man in moccasins. You won’t regret knowing him.
Indy Quillen’s “Duplicity” has got Fox Walker and Nataya tracking a missing person and the truth behind his disappearance. The story twists and turns and leaves you wondering how it will all fall into place. I particularly enjoy the wilderness tidbits that Walker teaches, this time, to a group of wilderness students. I’m starting to think if I were stranded in the wilderness, I’d remember some of Walker’s do’s and don’ts. I would survive! And it would be great if Walker joined me. Sigh. Then I’d definitely survive. However, Nataya might take issue with that. If you like suspense and mysteries, I recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed.
Howdy folks, here we are again hiking, observing nature and her children. Fox Walker and Nataya 👣👣(aka Jenny Long)in her past life, are enjoying each other's company..simply 💘lovely. They have just been contacted to find a missing friend Tom Watkins by Karen an old friend. Well our two survivalists have found Tom Watkins, his body landed on a ledge. The area is very remote and possibly his body would have never been found. Fox Walker and Nataya reported the death to the local Sheriff's department and then they must break the sad news to his friend Karen. Fox Walker and Nataya scouted the surrounding area and discovered an old mine, which possibly in its hey day produced gold, silver. Fox Walker and Nataya discover a specimen bottle containing water..now what's that about?? The two survivalist don't tell the Sheriff about the specimen, but send it to a private environmental laboratory to find out what it contains. The two have opened up Pandora's Box, mainly because of the death of Watkins and why was he taking water samples, is there problem with the drinking water in the little town of West Ouray Colorado. Well doggone it there's a deadly problem, the folks of the small town at bottom of the mountain are getting sick from some unknown cause. The water supply is contaminated by radium which we all know is derived from URANIUM. Now folks why is their URANIUM in their drinking water??Evidently the United States Government mined Uranium in the state of Colorado. Per the author Colorado has over three thousand mines , gold, silver mainly, but URANIUM mined because it's needed to manufacture the ATOMIC BOMBS. This is another hot mess, literally, now someone is either mining URANIUM and the run off is in the water serving the town's folk. Who's doing this, who murdered Tom Watkins and why are there armed guards at this old mine?? Lots of questions to be answered, and Will Fox Walker and Nataya 👣👣discover whose behind this terrible and possibly fatal transgression??
Duplicity was the third in the Fox Walker series by Indy Quillen. I read the first two, and I enjoyed them quite a bit. Duplicity was OK, but I felt it was a notch below the other two. In this installment Fox Walker and Nataya are hired to track down the missing friend of a woman named Karen. They succeed; however, Karen's friend, Watkins, was pushed off a cliff and is dead. Subsequently Nataya and Fox discover a mine and determine that it is polluting the water of the town of Deer Valley. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and as one might imagine, the plot thickens in advance of a climactic ending. For some reason I felt this book became formulaic compared to the first two. Ms. Quillen's writing style is very simple and direct, and I felt like she stated the direction of the plot in cases where a more experienced writer would have led the reader to draw one's own conclusions. As was the case in books one and two, there were interesting narratives around tracking and survival, and I truly enjoyed that content. This appears to be the final Fox Walker series offering, so I will say goodbye to the Colorado wilderness couple.
A good addition to the series. Fox Walker and Nataya attempt to find a man who was taking water samples and subsequently went missing. The tainted water leads them into a dangerous situation that is related to a dark part of Nataya's past. The relationship between Fox and Nataya continues to develop and the story keeps one's interest. As in the previous books, there is some interesting information about survival in the wilderness and great descriptions of the natural world. I have enjoyed the first 3 books in the series and I look forward to reading the remaining books.
The story of Walker and Nataya continues in this book that has adventure, mystery, and romance. There is an old mine, tunnels, and poisoned water. There is the relationship between Walker and Nataya and Walker’s wilderness class as well as some really bad and corrupt bad guys. I love this series and I highly recommend all three books. Looking forward to your next book Indy!!
I love the Fox Walker series. They show ethical behavior to the environment and humans (at least the good ones) and there are some wilderness survival tips tucked into the story here and there. The characters are likeable and incredibly adept so I don't have to worry too much about them - and they get to solve some good mysteries and put away some bad guys. the Colorado setting definitely has my heart. I hope there will be more Fox Walker adventures to come!
I really enjoyed reading this series so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of them. I don't normally buy the books I read but after the first book I've bought them all.
