"An extraordinary new series" - Book Reader's Heaven
Three incredible journeys in the shadow of a revolution
Distraught by the slaughter of his loved ones, Caleb embarks on a mission of revenge to the Tower of Elarion, a forgotten outpost on the Barrier Coast said to exist outside of time and space--and which Caleb believes holds the key to unlocking his inexplicable new powers.
With Caleb gone and Mala fleeing a deadly assassin from her past, Will agrees to lead a band of adventurers to recover the stolen Coffer of Devla. The last-ditch attempt to save the Revolution takes Will, Yasmina, and their companions through a portal to Praha, the most dangerous city on Urfe: a place seething with thieves, monsters, and weird magic from another age.
And in New Victoria, unbeknownst to his brothers, eldest brother Val finds himself taken under the wing of Lord Alistair and ordered to perform a very important task: find the Coffer of Devla and secure it for the Congregation.
As the brothers' lives on Urfe spiral further and further out of control, their individual journeys become a fulcrum for the fate of the Realm--and a forge that threatens to consume them. PRAISE FOR THE BLACKWOOD SAGA "Top 7 books of 2017" - O.D. Book Reviews

"Layton Green is an absolutely brilliant writer" - Everything to Do With Books
Layton Green is a bestselling author who loves to tell powerful, edge-of-your-seat stories across a range of genres, including mystery & thriller, suspense, horror, and fantasy (and often blending them together). He is the author of the Dominic Grey series, the Blackwood Saga, the Genesis Trilogy, and other works of fiction. Layton's work has been nominated for numerous awards (including a rare three-time finalist for an International Thriller Writers award), optioned for film, published in multiple languages, and has reached #1 on many genre lists.
In addition to writing, Layton attended law school in New Orleans and was a practicing attorney for ten very long years. He has also been an intern for the United Nations, an ESL teacher in Central America, a bartender in London, a seller of cheap knives on the streets of Brixton, a door to door phone book deliverer in Florida, and the list goes downhill from there.
Layton lives with his family in Southern California. You can visit him on Facebook, Goodreads, or on his website (www.laytongreen.com).
In the Blackwood series Layton Green has created a unique world, somewhat like our world, but very different. The Blackwood brothers, like many fantasy heroes, are suddenly thrust into into this world. Many of the citizens of this world are similar to those typical of other fantasies, but again, they are different. The Return of the Paladin is full of action, and unexpected twists in the story. It is a great addition to the series. It was frustrating though that there was so much waiting time between the third book and fourth book. I had come to the conclusion that the series had been abandoned.
Despite the slow beginnings of this series, this series just keeps improving! The story is fantastical in all the different facets. The evolution of characters is phenomenal. Just read it—do NOT read this without reading the previous books of the series, you will be so lost it’s ridiculous.
Parents—there are allusions to intimacy but nothing graphic. If this were a movie it would be R for violence and gore with the assumption that the director stays true to the descriptions. Please make this series a movie, it would be amazing!

I liked this book the best out of the series so far. You are invested enough in the characters and they have developed and grown throughout the story. After the third book I wasn’t looking forward to the fourth book because I thought the storyline was getting repetitive. This brought me back into the story wholeheartedly and I have pre-ordered the fifth book which is, I am assuming, going to be the last in the series. I’m looking forward to seeing how many of my predictions will come true. This book held some surprises along the way which I really enjoyed.
This has been another AMAZING adventure by Layton Green. I really enjoy the way he writes and makes the story fast paced and full of magic. The end of this one though I was like OMG Val! Lots of twists and turns and good development of Caleb in particular. Will, of course is as exciting as ever. Highly recommend!!!! Very much looking forward to the next installment
This is a good story but it does have, what feel like a lot of desperate attempts, to shove as much fantasy lore and as many geek references into the story as humanly possible. It's exhausting at times because it could genuinely be so much shorter, but whatever, we're plodding on.
Let’s go Caleb! I’ve loved Will from the beginning but I’ve come to adore Caleb. He is going to be our hero in the last book I just know it. I really enjoy how each of their stories unfold and what they’ve had to overcome to find themselves. I hope Val comes to his senses or he’s going to be destroyed along with his “idol”
I'm always at a loss when close to finishing a great series. I love the characters and want to see where the story takes them, yet the absence of more story leaves you feeling a bit empty. Thank you for the memorable characters and tale. I am starting the last book as soon as I finish this thought.
I really enjoyed this series and can't wait for the conclusion in Wizard Wars. I had a little trouble with the names but loved the characters. Magic, wizards, time travel and adventure.
The Blackwood brothers continue experiencing vastly different encounters as they seek to find each other. Startling revelations and realizations have altered each brother! Buckle up and be ready for an exciting read!
Wish the next book was available! This series was so reminiscent of Lord of the Rings. Good vs evil, unforgettable characters, beautiful scenic vistas. Much more evil and faster paced. Would so enjoy were there to be a movie deal.
The story remains well written BUT I will not be continuing with the series. This was sold as a trilogy and I fully expected it to finish in three let alone four books. Shame on the author for this con. Loss of respect completely.
This book a bit different from previous in serie, that it has some good moments. But a lot is just boring so badly that I had to put it away for a while before finishing. Won't continue reading any more of Layton Green.
Every book so far has been enthralling. This kind of story is not my normal reading matter, but Layton Green has certainly changed my mind. He has an amazing imagination and an unbelievably writing skill.
Multifaceted excitement and intrigue through out the whole series. Separate adventures all along the journey keeping the reader enthralled at all times
