A former prince of thieves who curses himself after making a terrible mistake; a courtesan who still dreams of romance and fairytales. As a reinterpretation of Beauty and the Beast, one of the most beloved fairytales of all time, with a psychological and more mature twist, Anima reminds us of the monsters that exist inside each of us, and how our own attitudes can set them free and make them real. A one-shot, 240 page, single volume fantasy and romance story with a bit of action and comedy, as well as a personal touch of mature thematic and subjectivity, Anima brings new original characters playing the role of the figures of classical literature, romance and fantasy along with action and comedy in an all-new interpretation of the tale.
Best described as a PG-13 Beauty and the Beast? The beauty is a peasant courtesan living with the world's worst friend/roommate, the Beast a rich mansion owner who turned animal after losing his first love. There were some similarities, beats, to Disney's movie, however, I enjoyed the many differences, keeping the story fresh. Lovely illustrations. I would read more from the author.
Uma releitura de Bela e a Fera utilizando personagens originais de uma forma nova trazendo uma profundidade e maturidade maior para o conto, diferente do que podemos ver na adaptação da Disney.
