Have you ever wished your life could be different? Do you wish that it could have more meaning, more direction? Do you wish that your thoughts could be more than just thoughts? Feelings could be more than just love and hate and pain?

Do you ever think of death coming into your life and turning it upside down? Have you ever felt so close to the edge that you weren't sure if you could pull yourself back from the darkness within? Have you ever loved someone so much it felt like they changed you somehow?

These are all question at seventeen years old I asked myself every day. Through all the pain, loss, and love that someone can feel over a seventeen-year span. All of these feelings for so long really does make me wonder... how much is too much? How can I go on? Do I even want to?

My name is Cambrea Breaux, and this is my story.

My mom couldn't care for me. My father was a worthless drunk. Where do kids like me go when we have no place? The system. or IYAS. My teenage years were supposed to be spent hanging with my friends, going out, falling in love and getting my heart broken, right? Well, that was far from what my teenage years were like.

For nearly two years I was made to do things. Things that my guardian knew better than to have me do. But he did it anyway. I saw no way out of the situation I was in, but to deal with it until I was eighteen, and free. I couldn't wait to be on my own and away from the Traces.

And when I thought.... well, I met "him." Everette Henston. The guy that made life worth living again.

Everette-
I had my whole world in my lap just then. I was flying high. Higher than ever before. I don’t know how or why Camie stumbled into my life, when she did, albeit, I don’t regret the first day she fell at my feet.

I didn’t feel anything for her then.

I still told myself that load of crap.

I was only going to help her out of the situation she was in. Loving her was not part of the equation. She needed too much. Feared too much. Then she loved me more than I could handle. I fell in love for the very first time with the most fascinating person I had ever met.

Then "they" came for her and Camie's life flipped once more.

Cambrea’s life is anything but easy. After moving from foster home to foster home after being given up by her mother, she only wishes for a loving family. Or at least one that will be easy to tolerate for the last two years of her life in the system. When she ends up with the Traces though, she figures out real fast why they go through so many kids. This time though, she learns she isn’t alone.

There are a lot of hard topics covered in this book. That being said, I think the author did a fantastic job of adding very real feelings to the characters. There were ups and downs and when Cambrea was ready to give up, I mentally screamed at her to keep going. It was very easy to connect to her and hope for the best. When she met Everette, or Rette for short, I shipped the two hard.

Very awesome book, and I’m happy to see it’s the start of a series.

Fantastic story

I really loved this book. I especially liked the way the abuse was handled. It was sensitive to the reader while also being gritty enough to get the picture. I also loved the FMC' strength and how she flourished under a loving embrace. It was very realistic. Hated the ending ha ha, but I'd love to read book two. Unfortunately that isn't on KU but I can't wait to buy it.

Just wow!

Not my usual sort of book, as I prefer paranormal romance. That said, wow! I have friends who are foster parents in the USA and have heard some of the stories, bad and good. The ending? Worth the wait.

I love, love discovering new authors especially when their books have such a touchy and sensitive theme to it that it leaves a huge impact on me.

Misplaced really had me downright emotional from the very first page to the very last one.

The triggers that this book is based on are very devastating and heartbreaking and what Camie went through was something I wouldn't wish on any child or teenager. You never know what to expect when you're put in the system and to have to endure such abuse is no damn joke.

This author did an exceptionally well done job with the way she wrote this book. There are characters you want to hate with all of your heart and then there's characters that you fall in love with. Everett is basically every woman's dream guy, he's rich, devastatingly handsome, sweet as pie and a bachelor.

When Everett meets Cambrea he instantly feels a connection to her. He can't explain why he's so drawn to her especially because she's still a kid, well she's almost 18 years old. He knows she's in trouble and tries to get her to talk to him and tell him what's going, but she just can't seem to tell anyone about the stuff she endures in the hell house she was put in.

As months pass, Cambrea starts to confide in Rett and little by little she believes that he can rescue her from that worthless family. He promises he's going to protect and take care of her.

The turn this book takes at the end really had me in pin and needles and now I'm desperately waiting for the next book because there are questions that need to be answered and I'm hoping I'll get what I'm hoping in the 2nd book.

Rett and Cambrea have just started their lives, now I need to know where the next book will take us.

Unbelievable read!!

“WOW” what a book, Misplaced is a mentally and emotionally draining novel, if your looking for a story that will suck you in and break your heart into a million pieces, then break it some more, then this is the one. It was gritty, tragic and gut wrenching with twists and turns along the way.
Cambrea Breaux ( Camie) young and innocent just wanted to be loved but she was betrayed by everyone who came into her life apart from Everette( Rette). Placed into care by her worthless parents, going from one foster home to another until she ends up with the Trace family, how much is a young impressionable child expected to endure in a lifetime??? While on a field trip with her school she comes in contact with Rette, a millionaire playboy businessman who sees something in Camie and wants to help, he understands she is still underage so with his contacts and influence he is able to help and protect her from the Traces Unbeknownst to them. When Camies situation becomes unbearable Rette hides her, they become a lot closer and inseparable, the Police are looking for her and so are the Traces but they have a hidden agenda!! Just when they think they are safe Camie has reached 18 and out of the care system, they decide to become public about there relationship there’s another twist of fate and Camies happiness and life comes crashing down around her. How will she survive now?? I absolutely loved this book. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was happy to provide. I have already downloaded Replaced book 2 and can’t wait to find out all the answers.

Jordan Leger once again brings us an intriguing thought provoking new series! Cambrea is 16 and has been in and out of foster homes since she was 11. She still visits her biological mother, but she signed over her rights and Cambrea did not understand why! She is sent from one caring foster home to another, the Trace’s. She believes everything is alright at first, and then comes the horrid truth! She is in a nightmare with no escape! The things the young innocent beauty experiences will bring about anger, frustration and even some tears. She meets Everett on a field trip, and he is a little older than her. He is rich, sexy, nice, charming and hot! He befriends her but knows he will eventually have to have her. This is a story that takes us through two horrifying years of Cami’s life. Through that journey love will blossom! The old saying is nothing good lasts forever…and in this case it is soooo true! Everett will risk ALL for Cami…..! Just know now I was hollering at the end of the book! Some will go to any lengths possible to get back what they believe is theirs…and Cami is wanted by many! Read Everett’s and Cami’s story…it is bittersweet! I cannot stand the wait for book two! I received this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What can I say about this Phenomenal Author Jordan Leger.. Wow... Just Wow!
She has taken a sensitive subject about abuse and has written it with Tact, Integrity and Grace. Her Book Misplaced is the first book to her Sacred Duet. Thank you Jordan for writing such a beautiful heart wrenching and warming Story.
The story starts with a little girls journey into adulthood in the fractured and broken foster care system. Cambrea was placed in the care of the Trace family, who are not your loving and caring caregivers. She endures pure hell for years at the hands of the foster dad and brother. Her foster mother is an evil cold hearted woman who turns a blind eye to almost everything that happens in that home. Till she meets Everette who promises to take care of her. Then disaster strikes and her world comes tumbling down around her. Will she survive this trauma who knows?
I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I swore and cursed, this story will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. So be warned. I recommend this as a beautifully orchestrated read and exceptionally written. I can’t wait for book two Replaced to be released. Thanks Jordan for your phenomenal talent as a writer. Cheers Libby. Misplaced is the first book in this duet.

This was one of those books that made my heart cry, and then heal, then freaking cry again. It's so well written and has so much passion to it.

The story is about Cambrea, a girl who has only known a life through the system since age eleven. When she's moved once more into another home, she tries to survive two years of abuse.

This story is based about her, but also Everette. A wonderful young man with secrets, who can't figure out why he has the need to find out more about her. When he finally does discover Cambrea's secret, will he be her protector? Can Rett change her future for the better? Will Cambrea still want his help after she finds out who Everette really is?

This story is so well written and with so much emotion my first from this author and it blew me away, the feeling you will have will have your heart on a rollarcoaster ride with heartache, madness and a whole lot of sadness and makes you want to just jump in and fix it all. Cambrea in the foster system and her life literally sucks and is scary and when she meets Rett a whole lot of changes happen and I loved their courage, Rhett I loved him heck I cheered him on and hoped for the best. I did not see that ending coming at all so I am waiting on pins and needles for the second book. Just phenomenal theres no other words beautifully written and spaced out so we get the whole picture and I loved it.

This was a new to me author and she completely blew me away.
The blurb had me hooked and the book itself did not disappoint.
A lot of this book was hard to read, child abuse is sadly far too common this day and age, but Jordan told the story with grace and respect so you couldn't look away, even when some.points during the story you wanted to.
Cambrea is a strong heroine, made even stronger with Rett by her side so I am waiting on tenterhooks for the next part of the duet.
Would give more stars if I could.

This is one of those books that will just emotionally gut you. As beautiful as it is ugly and as sweet as it is painful, I do not think that you can ever fully prepare yourself for all the emotions that you are going to go through during your reading of this book. Anger, sadness, frustration, disgust, horror, hope and fear will consume you as Cambrea and Everette's story unfolds. This is book one of a duet, so be aware that you will have to wait foir the conclusion in book two. A simply remarkable read! Of my own accord I am posting a sincere review.

Omg... I have never read a book like this and not by this author either. To say she blew me out of the water is putting it lightly. It was spectacular!!!! Oh it will make you cry, I did but so worth reading. Cambrea went thru so much. Geeze that poor kid broke my heart. Then when she thinks she can get out of it and meet the one guy that may be forever.... Well it doesn't work that easy. I'm not giving anything away on this book. It needs to be read with eyes wide open. A definite must read!!!!!! You won't be sorry.

Be warned by this reviewer that this book may contain triggers for some readers if you have suffered abuse physically or mentally. The author also posts a warning at the beginning of the book as well. This books deal with the harsh reality that some people just aint that nice and not matter how hard your try they are just a piece of crap. I had many emotions while reading about poor Shoonie. My heart went out to her and I just wanted to give her a big hug. If you are wanting a read that is real world.....this is it.

She is turned over by her mom who states she cant take care of her any longer. She goes to this family who are horrible to her. She does everything that she is told. The foster family mom takes most of her money she earns and doesnt really provide for her. She is only 17 yrs old. She wants to leave them but seems scared to do so. She meets this magnificent man who is older than her and he wants to take care of her. It was a great book. Tissues are required.

This is not the type of book I would normally read, but read it I did because I couldn't stop. Uncomfortable. Gripping. Brutal. Sexy in all the wrong ways. This is not a story for the fainthearted. The characters will keep you coming back even when you don't want to - you NEED to know they will be alright.
Cammie has rolled from one horrible home to another, but she's a survivor through and through. At times, her viewpoint is inconsistent (hence the 4* not 5), but she is a compelling character which you want to see survive against the odds. The thing I both loved and hated about it was that she went from one controlling environment, to another, with a token gesture rant or flipping her fuse occasionally about wanting control of her own life. A lot is made of her age, and the age of consent, but sadly, I think we all know there is a worse reality in the real world which, if someone was really in Cammie's shoes, then, such respect for the age at which one officially becomes an adult, probably wouldn't happen.
The ending was one heck of a cliff hanger. Brutal.
This is a good book. Dark, haunting, but good if you are into twisty relationships, edge of seat tension, and dark romantic themes.

Wow! What an amazing book!

Misplaced is a story about a young girl named Cambrea who was placed in the foster system by her mother at a young age. She’s been to multiple foster homes- both good and bad. She is 16 and being moved again. She’s hoping for a loving family or at least somewhere she can survive for another 2 years until she is out of the system. This story shows the horrors and the pain she goes through in her final foster home with the Traces. I found myself rooting for her and wanting her to continue being strong.

During a school field trip Cambrea ends up meeting a young man named Everette (Rett) who was instantly drawn to her without any idea why. He becomes her confidant and does everything he can to protect her and save her from her rough life.

This story took so many twists and turns and the ending was such a shocker. I am so excited that this is a series and cannot wait to start book 2.

Misplaced is a heartbreakingly beautiful novel about a young girl who was tossed into the system, and soon forgotten. Where secrets and lies were key to her own survival. School being her only escape! Until, one chance encounter with a stranger would change her life forever!

I knew the trigger warnings going into this book and took a chance on it anyway. I must admit, I had to put the book down and walk away a few times. Then again, Ms. Leger is so convincing in her telling that you wonder if she speaks from experience or just her imagination. Whichever the case may be, I needed to pick up the book again. Now, that I've finished book one, I'm off to read book two to finish this raw, emotional duet!

Twists and turns from start to finish.

Cambrea's story is a tough one but engrossing and you have to read on, shout for her and hope all ends well. From the prologue you know that this girl who is a minor and in care, has a need to run.

As she approaches eighteen and freedom from the system she encounters all sorts of difficulties with those supposed to be looking after her, but there is a saviour who wants to help.

With twists, turns and plot changes all the way through the novel, the reader becomes engrossed in Camrea's tale and needs a good outcome for her.

How this author got into her head to describe what she goes through is a mystery to me but the author's skills make me yearn for the follow up novel. Five stars with no hesitation.

A very emotional read.

Misplaced by Jordan Leger is a very emotionally driven book that will make feel all types of ways. This story is about a girl named Cambrea. Cambrea stood by her mother as as her mother easily signed away parental l rights, and placed her own elementary-aged child into the system. In this story Cambrea will go through tons of hardship and abuse that no child should have to go through.

This book is Well written, easy-to-follow, and flows really well.

I am giving this book the five stars it deserves. The author made me feel everything the character was feeling intensely.

This book me a very long time to read. I am a fan of the author! First thing is....this book was an emotional roller coaster! It went all over the place! Every time I had a chance to read a section of it I would be on the edge of my seat! Cambrea had such a dark and scary backstory. A few times I had to stop but I knew her back story would help me understand the book better. The Everette coming into her life. I swear she could never catch a break! After reading all of this I am wanting more. I applauded the author for this creation, and I am pleased!

A captivating read!

Holy crap! This was a really good book! Trigger warning for anybody sensitive to abuse. The main character is relatable, sympathetic, and finds her strength in the end. The love interest is sigh worthy, honorable, and is blissfully kinky. I love that it’s slow burn romance, and I was anticipating everything from the first kiss to the first time they were together intimately. I just download it book too. I can’t wait to get started on it!

Provoking novel

This is provoking novel for the society and it's values. Where the parents sign of their rights to others and they in turn begin to harass the child and take undue advantage of the girl children especially. They sexually assault in every way; which can easily be called a rape as it's being done against their will. This book was disturbing but have me a clear picture of Western society and the problems which are never told so easily.

Misplaced?! Damn!

I want to reach for Book 2 already. There's a certain part I hope is foreshadowing, if only as a middle finger to other characters. I'm keen to see where this arc goes now, having gone through this part. I want to see the end of it & I hope it does it in 2 books.
