I expected him to kill me, not kiss me. Now I don't want him to stop.
My sisters and I manage to escape the clutches of sex slavers, only to run straight into the arms of monsters. At least, we always thought the terrifying wolf shifters inhabiting the forest outside the city were monsters...until they take us in and save our lives.
Our own people exiled us because of our curves. Wargs love us for them. When the leader of the Valley pack starts looking at me like I'm the missing piece to his puzzle, I'm not sure what to do. To join their tribe, we must become werewolves ourselves, giving up everything we've ever known.
When a nighttime raid by the enemy puts my sisters in danger, I'm forced to choose between the man I love and the only family I've ever known.
Marina Maddix is a romantic at heart, but hates closing the bedroom door on her readers. Her stories are sweet, with just enough spice to make your mother blush. She lives with her husband, cats and chickens near the Rocky Mountains, and loves to hear from her fans.
What is better than werewolves, alien werewolves!! That is. Because normal werewolves are so boring, I mean oops, shape-shifters, so let's go to some other planet, shall we?
This is not an original plot, if you have read 'Ice Planet Barbarians' then there is hardly anything new here. Having said that, if you liked IPB, then you should definitely give this a try....who knows, you might end up liking this.
I follow Ruby Dixon on FB, and apparently she was the one who has recommended this. I liked the story, it's simple, giving 2 POVs, easy enough to follow - I mean I'm not even using half of my brain cells, but it's OK. I like to read something simple, just binge!
I'll read next in the series because it is Natalie's story so yeah I'm continuing with it...
-Shifter crack, so of course I can’t resist. Plus, it’s on Kindle Unlimited. Way to feed my addiction, Amazon. -I liked the setup with the girls bonding over the crappy treatment at the Center and if the story had continued really developing the female characters and their friendship, perhaps it could have worked. However…. -Look, I don’t expect alot of things from my cracky reads since crackilicious means guilty pleasure in my book. However, I absolutely need one of two things to really be fleshed out: the ‘verse the characters reside in or the characters themselves. I need one of those two things to hold my interest. Ideally, when both are interesting, I’m happier than a pig in poo. Here, neither one really worked for me. In fact, the story itself kind of dragged once the sisters ended up with the Wargs. Even the introduction of the Hill vs Valley Warg feud (kinda like the Hatfields and McCoys, but hairier) didn’t keep my interest.. -Solan’s kind of a crappy alpha. He’s unsure alot of the time in an unappealing way, and his tendency to disregard Sienna (at one point even called her stupid Terran, which bleh) was a turnoff. Sienna’s personality wasn’t particularly strong either, even if she was supposed to be the leader of her crew.
Meh. Between the lack of spark and the lackluster story, my cracky read just ended up fizzling. I’ve tried Ms. Maddix’s books more than once and I think I just have to give up the ghost and admit that her style’s just not for me. But if you’re super into shifter/alien romances, it may work for you.
Sienna and her friends are in a training center for people who are genetically inferior (overweight, ugly that sort of thing). They believe that after their training they will be sent out on missions with important goals....but they find out they are being sent out as concubines. The three manage to escape but run into the creatures that they thought were just a myth...wolf shifters. Soon they find out that they were lied to about almost everything... and since they have nowhere else to go this village might be a good fit for them. But the village is not without it's own dangers and they have to decide if they will willingly adapt or cling to their old lives.
I really enjoyed this. I thought Solan and Sienna were perfect parts likable and stubborn. I thought the story, though it had a lot going on, flowed really well and has some great originality. I will definitely check out the next in this series.
This is a standalone sci-fi romance series opener. Three Terran friends have been raised in a "training center" after being rejected by their families because they don't meet the standard physical image requirements. The night before they are to receive their post graduation assignments, they overhear guards say they will be sent to the military as sex slaves instead. They come up with a plan to escape and then overpower their guards on the transport the next day. They crash land in the forest, an area inhabited by Wargs, deadly wolves, but quickly learn the stories they've been told about the Wargs aren't fully accurate. And that there are far more dangerous things in the woods than Wargs. This book gets 3.5 stars.
It wasn't awful but it could have been much more. There are lots of plots points dropped and out of character behavior that if fixed could have made the book so much better.
Example: Why is the other tribe so barbaric? Why does the hero do that dumb thing (or not do the right thing that his character would totally do) and talk about in his head forever? Why don't the the heroine and her friends think about saving the other girls. This tribe needs women.
Sigh. Annoying. I am interesting in the the other heroines but I am likely going to not like the next book much either based on these kinds of errors.
This book had an interesting premise. It started out interesting.
But then when the mc’s met each other, it felt flat to me. Despite it being an action scene, they were just… meh.
The alpha was kind of mean and bossy and wishy washy at the same time. He called her stupid when they had an argument, and that pretty much killed it for me, but I still finished the book (albeit skimming over the last spice scene—- I no longer cared.)
The fmc was just… ok I understand that not all characters need to be liked. They just need to tell a story. But if I already dislike the mmc, then the book isn’t good for me. And she was argumentative and cloddish in her actions and decisions.
Unfortunately, even though I’m mildly curious about what happens to the other two Terran women and their mates, I just don’t see myself enjoying this author’s style and don’t feel like skimming through two more books.
Such fantastic world building! I enjoyed the two extremes in culture and how the author slowly brought everyone closer together. I love that the girls were strong enough to make a difference in their own lives and yet smart enough to recognize a good thing. The author made this such a fantastic journey with a touch of SciFi and PNR that I can’t wait to read the next book!
Really enjoyed this book great story line about 3 girls escaping from their prison about to be sold for sex slavery they where in the camp from a young age they went on their as they where deemed too fat so spent years on diets and exercise and cruelty. Sloan is a warg (wolf shifter) he finds the 3 girls and brings them to his village he is the alpha ain’t takes a shine to one of the girls Sienna who also is attracted to him. The girls end up having a choice to make wither become wargs or they will have to leave as too much conflict with the males and fights break out who is going to be their mate only way stop it is the girls turn to wargs 2 of the girls don’t mind but sienna has second thought she has only just got her freedom and now to turn into a warg and find who she is fated to is too much for her but also she would hate to be turned and find Sloan is not her mate. Through a turn of events she has to decide to turn to save her sisters she needs to find them and bring them back with her. Sienna makes her choice help find her sisters and bring them back home with her. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series about the other sisters and their fates
Three young human women Sienna, Natalie, Arlynn who had been given to the Training Center by their parents when they were young. Here they were raised and trained for what they thought were missions they would be sent on when they were out of school. But the day before they would each be sent on their own missions Sienna overheard some guards talking that they had to be "pure" because the men buying them only wanted them if they were. They planned an escape by crashing the shuttle. Alpha Dolan saw the crash and ran to help "even though it meant crossing unto enemy land" . Having to hurry he admitted to bring a shifter so he could get them to ride because one was injured and they needed to go faster than they would be able to travel and a fast running river to cross. They will not except the bite that would turn them to find out if they have true mates in the pack which would have also helped them fight off their kidnappers. After rescue Sienna will find her mate. Natalie will use her science background to help find out why they are only having male babies. Good story.
Actually the setting is a bit strange. Their parents have gave them away to a training thing, but when they are finally old enough to do their thing they find out they are going to be sex slaves. So they escape and crash their plane.
They are found a rescued by a werewolf who gives them a place in his pack. Sienna has feelings for this werewolf Solan, but she isn't sure if she wants to become a werewolf herself. But next her two friends are kidnapped by a rival pack. What comes of that, for that you have to read the book.
If you like a book with action, hot moments and strong woman, this is your read.
Not my usual genre but I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the characters and the plots. This story is a SI-FI about shape shifters on another planet who can turn from Terran into Wargs a wolve like creature, this is the story of the Alpha male Solan and how he meets his fated mate the problems it causes and the tribal conflicts. Sienna and two other terran females crash land in the wargs area after escaping from a shuttle taking them to be sex slaves there is lots more to the story and leaves you wanting more.
I loved it! The story is deep with a detailed plot. The sisters escape was high on the action and was super intense. I loved the idea of the training camps and the twisted use for the unwanted big girls. That part was twisted but I imagine that it could happen, in theory. I loved the characters and the girl power that the book showcases. It was interesting and the story flowed steadily.
These other forms are more scarey than just looking like wolves. The humans have strict appearance ideals and those that don't fit are sent to a place called an orphanage but in reality those sent there can expect a different outcome. Good story but a little too much sex for me.
A great read and intriguing enough for me to read onto book 2. Great storylines. Big girls get exiled for their size and all hell breaks loose later on in the book. Big girls need love too. Dramatic and angst filled twists and turns. A new author for me and I'm interested. Onto book 2.
What I expected and what I got was different. I almost gave up because the two main characters didn’t meet till well after chapter four. Normally I have a rule, no meet by chapter 3 then I move on. The author managed to keep me hooked so digital high five. Give this one a chance.
This is a twist on your typical shifter book and alien book. The authors combined these two genre's and the book was good! So the humans escape a human colony and run into a shifter tribe. The tribe is like what you would expect, but alien as well. I will continue with this series.
Aliens, wargs of two clans and so many trials plus a touch of life surrounding the mating celebration. I'm not usually into aliens but this story Intrigued me to read the whole thing. Interesting characters plus stories of monsters riddle this book.
Wow if you are looking for a book to take you on an adventure read this book. You won't be able to put it down. The characters are snarky and you will laugh and yell at some of the other characters in the book.Happy Reading.
I expected a typical PNR romance, but what I got was unique to say the least. This story had shifters, romance, suspense, and out of this world details. A surprisingly good read you will not be disappointed.
Definitely not what I was expecting. I thought this was going to be a standard shifter romance, I was so wrong. Absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the next in the series
The rated I choose it to say, the story was great. The strength of the 3 girls is so strong to make it through everything. Now hoping they find their mates.
A good read. When 3 aliens escape from the compound and run into the Forest they find out monsters and werewolves exist. Now they have decisions to make.
Solan's Mate was a good start to the series. Sometimes it's a little slow moving. The main characters Solan, the Alpha, and Sienna,
Solan's Mate is a good start to the series. Sometimes it's a little slow moving. The main characters Solan, the Alpha, and Sienna, the alien turned Warg, have many issues to solve. Escalating violence between the Valley Warg and the Hill Warg. The aliens continued population growth and the possibility that they will attack the Warg before an alliance can be agreed upon. The fact that females are rarely born to the either clan will lead to the end of the species in the next generation or so. Solan is tired and bored with his main alpha duty being solving foolish squabbles. Three alien females arrive and all types of new problem arise. Several male Warg warriors seem to be getting angrier and more prone to violence. Solan is attracted to one of the new females. The clan members have been pushing him to mate and reproduce.
So three sisters who are in a compound are being sold off to unknown aliens. They are rescued by themselves! And then find a warg also now in my mind as werewolf alien who takes them to safety and opens his home and find that one of them is his mate. Sienna is the “alpha” of the group, and she is pretty annoying as well as protective of her sisters. A part of the book it’s almost as if she forgets that her sisters are individual people with their cares, and she believes that her decision is their decision which doesn’t go well. Once everything is excellent with her, she seems to kind of forget about her siblings which I guess is the part of the cliffhanger to make you read the next book which I probably will be reading maybe.
This is a fast paced story about a wolf meeting his mate in unusual circumstances. Sienna, along with her 2 friends, are orphans in a special training center for those considered genetically inferior. They fight back against the guards once they find out they are being sold as sex slaves. All 3 are found by Solan who takes them back to his tribe. Females in his and other tribes are rare due to fertility issues so females are worshipped. Sienna is immediately attracted to Solan but she would need to become a wolf like the tribe. Before Sienna makes her final decision, her 2 friends are kidnapped by another tribe. Can she save her friends and have Solan also?
Solan and Sienna live in two very different worlds, but when Sienna literally crash lands into Solan's world sparks fly. I downloaded this story three years ago, but never read it. I came across it again, and enjoyed it.
I felt that there were a few inconsistencies, especially where the training center was concerned, but overall, I enjoyed it. I felt the girls were a little on the naïve side, but that's understandable. I kept wondering why they never went back and tried to save the other orphans or even mentioned wanting to save them. I also didn't like how negatively the Hill Wargs were portrayed given that they are featured in the next two books.
Maybe it's me. If it hadn't been a shorter novel, I wouldn't have made it to the end. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, but their hook up didn't occur until midway through. I am buying the second installment, as I want to see how the over-arching conflict progresses.
