Over two books Nate Devlin is a “Man’s Man.” He grows from an Orphan into a Rancher, Husband, Father, and a man to “ride the river with”. He has loads of troubles, friends who help and stand up for him, and he fights his battles. Secondary characters are well written and get to the point they start to steal the show. Wish there were more “Devlin” stories coming.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I live in Central California, in the San Joaquin valley. The description of the high deserts, and rugged mountains was so accurate! The twists & turns of the story in this setting kept you glued way past bedtime.
Another great story by Carson McCloud. In this story the desert seems to come alive. I like the way the story is written using real places. Will be read more by this author.
Nate Devlin is still in his valley, raising cattle and a family. An enemy from the past kidnaps his wife and son. Nate and his brother-in-law, journey for days to find the missing family members. Lots of action, gun shot wounds, and a good ending, conclude this story.
I really enjoyed this second book. I would be happy to hear there is another one in the works, although McCloud says this is the last story about the Devlins.
I truly enjoyed this very interesting and exciting tale. This is another fine Western story that makes me feel I was born at least a hundred years late!
This book had all of its pages and the story was really good. It kept my interest all the way through. The story was well laid out so it left you hanging at times.
