Pol Pot

Rate this book
The course of world history has often been set by powerful individuals who had an insatiable hunger for power, wealth, fame, and glory. History's Villains takes a two-sided look at some of history's most influential villains; the series explores the influences and experiences that shaped the figure, but does so in the context of the time. What emerges is a unique story about a world that changed a person and a person that changed the world.

"Pol Pot's plan was based on the grandiose schemes of Stalin in Soviet Russia and Mao in China. Each had tried to create a collective economy by force, and the result in each case was failure and massive numbers of deaths."

I often heard about Pol Pot and "The Killing Fields", but didn't know the specifics. This book was excellent at giving a great overview of what happened. It was a quick read and I learned a lot. Yet, another confirmation of how communism drastically fails.
