Bully is book 1 in The Academy of Lies series
This is a Paranormal Romance you'll fall in love with.
3.5 This is good. Plot is amazing. But it would be SO much better if there was more time put into the relationship building. one fuck does not equal love. or 2 whole? conversations. I don't know anything about the 4 love interests at all. I don't even know their names other than Orphic lmao. If more went into that, this would be a slam dunk.
This is not a review just some notes on the book. -terrible characters -no character building -uninteresting plot -no world building -lots of confusion
**** I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy ****
Atlas Rose, I don't know what to say except OMG what in the world did I just read!!! I am shocked, sad and want more.
This book is incredible and I just got sucked in so quickly. My head is still spinning just trying to soak it all in. The main character is Evie Richards who is determined to escape her hell. There are so many secrets, mystery and lies going on, that I had to backtrack a few times to understand what is going on. Something happens to Evie that lands her at Katalyst Academy. There she is met with hatred from the girls real quick. Then you meet the Kings of Katalyt, Orphic, Maxton, Nathair, and Acyn. These four guys seem to be quiet and watch a lot of what goes on but doesn't stop any of it. However, there is a ton of mystery that comes with them. It's like you can see what their intentions are but then it quickly changes. They have this aura around them that allows them to be able to control the situation. Evie is trying her best to make it through until she was given some bad news and then everything just gets insane. Then the girls get to her and she has no one to help her.
The build up of they story was crazy intense, heart pounding and dark. There is a lot of questions that are unanswered, however i feel for the next person that crosses Evie's path. Atlas Rose, I have not devoured a book so fast and cannot wait for the next book.
After bad girl Evie steals a car from her mum, takes it for a joyride with her friends and gets caught she ends up in Katalyst Academy. A so called school that has the feeling of a prison and its certainly run like one with the kids being inmates. Some more institutionalized than others. Like any other school it has it fair share of bullies, cliques but its also where trust and friendship are in short supply. So when the Katalyst Kings - Orphic, Maxton, Acyn and Nathair a group of guys who offer both to Evie she is in two minds on whether to trust them or not? Dark, vicious and deliciously devious this book certainly ticks all those boxes but it cleverly changes direction half way through it. It turns the book on its head in a way i didnt see coming and oh boy that ending.............just wow!!! I cant big up this book enough but only if you like your books a bit dark. If not this might not be the book for you. Me? Well i loved it. Bring on book 2
Gosh this was a strange one. I'm finding it hard to review properly. To express why it didn't capture me the way i wanted it to. But at the same time it has intrigued me enough to want to follow the story and read "Crave" the next book in October 2019 when it releases.
I think for me one of the things i found difficult was i had to read and re-read sections of the book as it just didnt make sense. Each page bought with it a world wind of confusion for me. Confusion about what was going on / happening. It wasnt clear enough what this story was actually about. Is it about gifted students or is Evie the only one? What is this "Katalysts" school/acadamy all about.
I just dont understand the story line at all and im hoping by going onto Crave it may shed some light on things for me.
I think i now have a hatred for the words "Snarl" and i "flinched" just some of the repeated words on each page.
Having said all this it is still written well and i will read crave when it releases.
3 stars from me. I just wish i understood it more.
Talk about a binge worthy read. Evie is a rebellious girl after her mom leaves dad. She hates her mom or thinks she does. She gets in trouble and gets sent away to Katalyst Academy. Seems more like a prison to me. Gets beaten and bullied by the head bad girl. Everyone laughs and she tries to avoid them all. Until she Meets Orphic and the Katalyst Kings. That ending though. The hurt, the betrayal, that anger. What is Evie really???
Taken from the life she knew with the permission of her mother. One small joyride turning into a complete nightmare.
Her destination is Katalyst Academy where the windows have bars, and the lockdown is much akin to that of a true prison.
Life couldnt get any worse... or could it?
This book showed so much promise and truly I wanted to love it, wanted to continue through to the other books in the series as they are released but I dont think it's for me.
I found myself having to read certain paragraphs several times to make sence of them, and even then struggled on a few occasions.
The perspective of the characters jumped back and forth over three paragraphs and that irked me somewhat.
There were also a few events that left me puzzled yet bemused.
The characters didnt give me enough to appeal to me. There wasnt enough depth to them, or enough meaning in their words.
I love reverse harem and bully reads if they are written right, but this to me still needs a lot of work.
I would of course be willing to revisit and amend my review in the future, but as things stand I'm only giving this a three star review.
Bully introduces us to Evie. Who has been having some issues with her parents divorce and her mom's new live in boyfriend. One night while out with her boyfriend Quinn and her friend Flay, she may or may not have taken her moms car. Which really belongs to her dad and half hers, so she thinks. Getting caught by the police, she is then forced, literally to go to Katalyst Academy. Where right away things seem way off. Nothing is what it seems. And after catching Orphic's eye, the girls have it out for her. They will hurt her, beat her, and try to tear her down. She can either try to survive by keeping to the shadows or accept the help that Orphic and his friends provide. But everything comes with a price. Can she pay it? And exactly what kind of hold do these kings have over the school and students. Not to mention the hold that they have over her. A bigger question is, why exactly would they want to help her?
I stumbled upon Bully one day being advertised in a group. I read the blurb and was hooked. I needed to read this. So I begged the author and I got lucky. Guys this is so good. This is a bully rh romance. But there is a twist on this one. Its not just about the girl going to school getting bullied by the guys/girls, there is so much more to the story. Which the story is very fast paced. It seemed like I just read for a few minutes and I was done. That is how engrossed I was into the story.
Evie, is your typical teen trying to survive with parents divorcing, the mom's new fling after her. She wants to just spend time with her boyfriend. Getting caught, going to Katalyst Academy, is so scary. The author does a good job of writing in the emotions, of what is happening, being scared, and confusion of the character. She is trying to be strong, but really when everyone has it out for you, there is really only so much one can take. Enter The Kings. Orphic, Nathair, Maxton, and Acyn. These guys I don't know what to think of them, just like Evie. You feel drawn to them, just like her. Will they hurt her, can she trust them? We will have to see.
As I said the pace is fast, the characters and scenery is well written. I got the feeling of something paranormal happening, and I cannot wait to find out what it is. I will not give away any spoilers, but I will say the ending had me going WTF! If you are into the bully romances now, this is going to be one that you wont want to miss.
I just know that I’m going to love this series. I was hooked almost immediately. Well written, great world building, clearly defined characters, all of the things that contribute to good fiction. And the story, well it’s just plain good. Too good to pass up.
This is the story of Evie, a young woman who is sent to the Katalyst Academy for “troubled” teens. Evie was a bit of a wild child and is being severely punished for it. At the Academy, Evie is bullied, poisoned and beaten by the mean girls but she also meets the four Kings, the young men who rule the school. They tell her they’ll keep her safe. Despite her intuition warning her to be careful of them, she opens herself to their influence. Quite possibly one of her greatest mistakes.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, but I’m so intrigued to see what happens that I’ll just have to be patient and wait for the next book. It’s gonna be hard to do that! Highly recommended.
This is a bully romance in a new series. Its a bit of a mystery in terms of where is the MC taken? Is she at an academy? Mental hospital? Prison? Science Experiment center? Who know. The writing was good, and the character personalities have potential. One thing that really bugged me though, which is what kept me from giving it 5 stars is this: This girl seems really smart, shes believable, her reactions are real... why does she not address the fact that her dad keeps getting brought up in relation to her situation? She doesn't seem naïve enough to overlook that and for me it kind of conflicted with her character personality. I have a feeling the dad is going to be part of this , and its a bit of foreshadowing or something which is why I still really liked the book. I just feel like the MC wouldn't have just let that detail slip. I expected her to react to it. I am curious to see how the next book pans out.
I kinda dislike academy books that leave you with a vague sense of what age a character is. Why you ask, well because I feel skivvy reading books that minors having s3x. It's not that I'm so old, it's just not my genre. Even books 18, 19 yo is weird, but there is just so many academy book it's hard to not find a few. Why am I bringing this up you ask, well I have no idea what age these characters are. They can be anywhere between 17 to 19 based upon some of the statements used. It's a pretty dark book for a YA if it is. It's not a bully RH involving the male characters but rather the bullies are the females that are jealous of the girl. Let me tell you, they beat the daylights out of her. I don't know where exact this story is going but it's interesting. I just wish some of the character backstory was a little clearer, but hey, maybe it will clear up in the next book
Wow. Guys seriously one click this book. You need this story in your life. Ok so starting from the basics this story is about a teen girl, somewhere between the ages of 16-18. First things first, Evie feels like a real teenage girl. She doesn't feel 32 trapped in a 17 year old body. Evie gets dragged away to a prison like academy, where she immediately meets controversy and despair, who become her best friends for the remainder of the book. I don't want to spoil this story, because without more than the blurb this book literally rocked my socks off. Evie is fierce, the guys are hot, and her story is heartbreaking. Being able to convey that to readers is something Atlas Rose does with magnificence and ease. This is definitely a medium to fast burn, and the intrigue is intoxicating. Easily the best book I've read this year. 10/10, will recommend, over and over again.
I loved this book it was absolutely phenomenal! It didn’t let up from the first chapter to the last! I got sucked into this fantastic new literary world! And it was a treat! Evie is our FMC she’s a bit of a bad girl! She steals her mums car and takes herself and hers friends for a little joyride! She ends up getting caught and ends up in Katalyst Academy. The Academy is more of an Institution or prison! This Book deals with how Evie handles with settling in at the Academy. How she handles the bullying and the quintessential mean girls. This is hell for her! We meet the Katalyst Kings who are all dark and brooding! Who offer to help Evie in terms of friendship and trust she’s reluctant to accept! These guys are really mysterious and quiet! I can’t wait for the next book there are so many unanswered questions!! And that cliffhanger!!
Wow. The story comes at you in such a force that you can not put it down. The story starts with evie just being a normal teenager. But as things go from bad to worse for evie, you just can't imagine the horrors she has to live with when she's sent to the academy. There's heaps of questions that you'll want the answers to and atlas loves to keep us readers guessing. Some scenes were brutal, some were hot! This book leaves you wanting more and you'll sit gripped to the pages NEEDING more. Loved the characters and the world building. The emotions this book will make this read one you won't forget! I need book two so badly but I loved every second of reading about evie and her kings!
Wow wow wow This is my first time reading the author Atlas Rose, so I wasn't really sure what to expect diving into bully. Well let me tell you I was not disappointed!! I'm usually not one to read reverse harem books but I'm so glad I dived I to bully. Bully is the first book in the Academy of lies series, the main character is Evie and her harem ( the kings) Orphic, Nathair, Maxton and Acyn. Evie ends up at Katalyst after getting into some trouble with her friends. The school ends up being more of a prison than anything else Most of book one navigates how Evie deals with being thrust into her own personal hell and how the kings try to help her deal with the bullying and the " mean girl ". The last 30% of the book had me guessing what was going to happen next and kept me on the edge the entire time. There is a cliff hanger ending but boy did it ever make me want book Two RIGHT NOW. Atlas Rose is now officially on my one click list.
*******I received a copy of this ARC from the author**********
I am new to this author, Atlas Rose and wasn't sure what to expect. The blurb for Bully had me wanting to read it after it came out. I was very fortunate to get an advance copy from the Atlas Rose and extremely glad I did. Bully was very well written and got to meet some extremely hot males. I love Orphic and he is my favorite! There is such a big cliffhanger, that has me wanting to start reading book 2. Looking forward to learning more about the school and students and can't wait to read book 2. I highly recommend this book that loves the bully genre.
Evie, like every teenagers with broken families have their issues and teen angst when they get to high school, not easy being the new kid. I have this book 4 cups of steaming java. Easy read with lots of angst and something almost sinister around the reform school. However, Evie falls for the leader, Orphic, and the 3 others of the Katalyst Kings but event happening leading up to that point to when hell breaks lose and things changes that she runs away, she tries to go back but it isn't how she hoped to perceive, seem there much more sinister going on?? .... Find out more in book 2.
This book has promise and I hope the next books in the series improve as the story develops.
As the audience, we are told more than shown what Evie goes through at the Academy, or really Institute. The Academy theme is weak here and not enough is done to plant seeds around a possible paranormal aspect.
Moreover, I have no connection with Evie and the relationship between Evie and the harem, especially Orphic (the only guy we’re really introduced to) is underdeveloped. The sex scene was cringey (and I could not tell if that was the point), there is sex with zero intimacy being portrayed and Evie’s internal monologue made her sound less than enthusiastic about going through with it. Personally, unless I’m reading dubcon, I want enthusiastic consent.
In some areas the writing is confusing and I was still none the wiser after rereading the sentence /paragraph.
Don’t let this review put you off reading the book, as what may tickle my fancy, may not appeal to you and vice versa.
*i received an arc in return for an honest review

I don’t know what is going on, but I guess Evie doesn’t either so it really puts you into her world. Though it’s a fragmented world. A lot of things don’t makes sense, but I’m going to continue on to book 2 because it’s free with KU and I want to see if I can figure out what the heck is going on. I honestly wished I hadn’t started this book, because I’m one of those people who has to finish what they start. But since I did start it, I’ll finish the series and hope some clarity comes.
Wow. This book had me so blown away! I’m new to Atlas Rose and didn’t know what to expect with her writing. But after reading Bully, I can say I’m impressed. The storyline and characters are very intriguing, and there is still a lot of mystery surrounding the school and its residents. I finished this book in a little over 2 hours because it was too good to put down. It is worth the read and I’m looking forward to book 2!
This book was quite the intense ride!! I devoured this book, start to finish.. I couldnt stop til I finished. And after that, I CRAVE the next book!
Evie was a strong character, well written. I felt for her, having acted out and stolen my own mother's car back in my teens.. LoL! I haven't decided how I feel about the guys yet..
The end left me with questions unanswered.. But consider me hooked! I cant wait to read the next book.
Omg wow, this book just about ticked every box for me. Definitely a must read for any bully rh fan. Some dark moments and some steamy ones, what more could you want? The main character felt real and i cannot wait to see her development in the next books. Only down side is now having to wait for the next book...
Omg!!! What a story!! Was not expecting that ending!!$
Wish there was more than 5 stars....could not put this book down...evie is a troubled woman who is sent away to an adventure not of her choosing ...wont post too much more because of spoiler...but lets just say ..YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!!! CANT WAIT FOR CRAVE
I have no words ... ok maybe I have a few. I have been struggling the last few days to find something that really totally captured my attention and this book totally did.
It was ok. I would not continue the series. Too much like every other bully academy series. New girl gets bullied by queen bee because the boy she likes is interested in the new girl. The new boy and his friends take new girl under their wings and she falls for them. Fast forward and she finds out everything is a lie. Plus story was way too fast paced for the relationship. It all felt forced.

Ohh ok so I read this one, and I totally need the next one. Damn what a book. I was so engrossed I didn't realise it was 2am. I need to know what happens next. What a way to end the book .... Throughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommend to those who like Bully RH's ohh yeah.
Wow..if you like Bully books, this one is for you. It will grip you from the beginning and keep you guessing and wanting to know more about what is going on. The end had me screaming at the MC and left me wanting the next book.
I love the characters and the storyline. I love how Atlas just pulls you in and you can’t stop reading till you realize it’s done and you’ve got a book hangover wanting more.
