German New Medicine-Experiences in Practice Dr. Katherine Willow, N.D. After losing her beloved husband Mickey to brain cancer in 2002, Dr. Katherine Willow, N.D. went on to research German New Medicine (GNM) to understand why his autopsy results were exactly what GNM experts had told her to expect. A year later she incorporated GNM principles into her practice of naturopathic medicine. This book is an anecdotal report of the results she has seen with patients who presented with many types of cancer as well as arthritis, digestive disorders, skin conditions, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease. Overall, German New Medicine saved the provincial health insurance (OHIP) over two million dollars in treatments no longer needed. For people wondering if they could use GNM for their illnesses, this book is also a reader-friendly summary of the basic principles as well as a list of resources to find more information. Ultimately, German New Medicine will move forward in our medical system when researchers confirm its principles. Hopefully an influential reader can make that happen! Dr. Katherine Willow, N.D. is a fourth-generation naturopathic doctor with German roots. She has been practicing naturopathic medicine since 1983 and currently directs Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre in rural Ottawa, Canada. Here patients can stay in an “organic” bed and breakfast to access a combination of German New Medicine, naturopathy, Ayurveda, chiropractic, massage and energy healing. www.ecowellness.com
I found this on KU and since I’ve been curious about GNM I decided to give it a try. I thought it was a good introduction to the GNM philosophies. Some of the philosophies, like the author says, aren’t difficult to accept because those of us in the natural health community have already accepted that disease is more than a physical experience. GNM just takes this concept further. Very intriguing philosophy, and something I’m definitely mulling over as far as how to incorporate it into my own views. I appreciated Dr. Willow’s approach because she is quite balanced and incorporated many different health and wellness perspectives cohesively rather than pitting them against each other.
Thank you for all your work! This confirms what I have observed in my 30 years of practicing "holistic health." But you have explained it in a way that is clear and understandable.
I loved this book! There are some things I didn’t agree with, but as a whole I think there’s a lot of valuable information. I think it makes perfect sense that our physical ailments are connected to our emotional conflicts, traumas, and thoughts. It’s really reframed how I think and react when my body has symptoms.
Wonderful introductory information. I’m looking forward to get to know more about it. As the author says, still needs to be done a lot of research, though everything makes a lot of sense for me, and I resonate with the information. I’m grateful for this opportunity of knowledge.
I am sorry that I have to rate this book in this way, I used to believe in German New Medicine myself, but after I found out from Hamer's books that he was strongly anti-Jewish, I focused more on the negatives of this practice. From what I have found, the biggest problem is the lack of verifiable evidence of the effectiveness of this practise and the many cases of people who have died following its principles (see the case of Olivia Pilhar, Sören Wechselbaum and others). By all accounts the basic principles are probably not completely wrong, some of his theories were studied and confirmed. The problem is that this practice can give a desperate person a false sense of security and safety and lead them away from other and possibly more effective treatments. Please do your research on GNM before purchasing this book and approach it with caution.
I love this book because it shifted my perspective on what causes disease. This book explains how emotional trauma sets in motion a series of events that are resolved once there is a period of calm in a persons life. How even cancer can be considered a healing event. And how diseases of the reproductive tracts are due to conflicts with children. So fascinating. This book was just a primer and a plea for others to take her observations and do more research studies.
A nice concise overview of German New Medicine. I recommend this to anyone who is curious about enabling the body to heal itself (or, at least, getting the body to participate in a prescribed treatment).
This information is revolutionary and deeply fascinating. As a holistic practitioner who has autoimmune issues this book has given me hope into a new pathway to healing. Thank you!
Great intro into the world of German New Medicine. Kind of a misnomer as it's been around for decades. While the book doesn't go into great detail, it does give you a nice glimpse into the practise and the possibilities. If you're into GNM, this is a good starting point.
This was a well thought out introduction to an amazing new idea. The universe sent me a video on GNM, which blew my mind. After which I discovered this book. Thank you for writing it and for practicing the art. You are a true healer.
A really nice breakdown of the German new medicine model that is easy to follow along, and I appreciate the examples of cases where German new medicine was applied.
Eye-opening description of a non-invasive and intuitive alternative healing approach. How shock can lead to illness and how acceptance and calm can lead to healing.
