Tengo que decir que me gustó como expandió esta historia Morgan Rice y lo que hizo con los viajes en el tiempo.
Es un libro muy fácil de leer, aunque hubo partes que no me convencieron del todo en general me gustó bastante.

I was given this book - lucky me - this is what I think of the second in this series...

A fast-paced, page-turner and imaginative, so makes this story a thrilling read. It may be for a younger readership but I loved it because it has heart, adventure, magic and that old favourite, good v evil.

Nevertheless, while powers are given to seers, it is what they do with them that matters...a strong theme in this tale. We all are capable of good or bad but it is our choices that make all the difference - a great lesson.

Great characters and plot and highly recommended.

My name is Esther, and Oliver's plans to save his mentor have been sidetracked since the Orb of Kandra was stolen from the School for Seers. The school will implode and be destroyed if the orb isn't returned in twenty-four hours. We have the only school for seers, or so we've been told, but it looks like seers may have taken the orb. Oliver's specialism is atomic, the most powerful specialty, and he's the only one who can get the orb back. I'm happy to help and Ralph has joined us too. It looks like we'll need to visit Sir Isaac Newton, so we'll be time-traveling back to the 1690's. The jumps through portals have been making me weaker, but I can't tell Oliver what's really going on. He has enough to worry about, especially now that his brother Chris has shown up helping the Obsidian students. How is that even possible? You can't make someone a seer, so what have they done to Chris?

You need to read this series from the beginning. The seers are able to manipulate their environments based on their specialties, although it comes across as almost magical. I like Oliver's character and his relationship with Esther. He comes from an abusive background, but this book introduces the probability that he hasn't been raised by his actual parents. Time travel is the backbone of the plot, as there are opposing groups battling to maintain and disrupt history. The Obsidian school is introduced as the antagonists, but the big surprise is the reappearance of Oliver's brother. He adds a personal twist to the overall conflict. The thing that most bugs me about the book is how quickly Oliver has mastered his atomic specialty. No one else has that power, so he isn't trained at all, but his body seems to have miraculously enabled him to easily transform things at their atomic level. There's been a minimal learning curve. Despite that, I've enjoyed the overall story of trying to preserve the integrity of historical events. It's easy to connect with Oliver, and he's a bit of a renegade like many middle grade heroes. I'm a little bummed my library system doesn't have the rest of the books in the series, and I can only find them offered for purchase through Kindle or Amazon.

This book "The Orb of Kandra" is as good as the 1st book if books make you feel like you are a part of it. It starts with Oliver Blue working on a quest for meeting his parents if he finds out who they are. He uses a compass, but not, is a seer thing. He goes from 1 place to another until his girlfriend shows up. His girlfriend is from the Seers school that Oliver Blue went to before leaving in the 1st book. So they travel together & find out the answers to clues that are hidden while they are on this quest. They go through so many twists and turns of good vs evil between having another friend from the Seers school showing up; it then has Oliver Blue's attention going to see a problem for the Seers school that makes these twists and turns happen, including his brother from the foster family he grew up with. This brother of his gets into the action by getting brought to the Obsidian school that makes him become really bad. It goes from fun, lonely, happy, sad, etc. through the book that you want to keep on reading like I did. I love mystery, action, drama, science fiction, fantasy, and justice in & throughout the book. Does Oliver Blue make it? What happens to the school? What is going on with the Orb of Kandra that this book is named after it? Do read it & get the answers as you explore with them!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I found myself letting responsibilities go in order to continue reading long after I had planned to stop. Luckily, it was the holidays, so I had a little time to spare. :) Oliver is such an easy character to like and root for. His relationships with the people around him, from Esther on one end to Chris on the other, brought a lot to the story, I think. I hope this doesn't give the wrong impression, but to take a story as simple as this one and give it the sense of suspense and anticipation that makes you want to keep reading is a testament to Rice's writing ability, in my opinion. I LOVE the short chapters. It's like eating potato chips; you find it so easy to just have just ONE more. The villains were mean and nasty, which makes you root for Oliver and company that much more strongly. I can't wait for the next installment!

A better story line than the 1st in this series. The action is high and this one does captivate you in a better way. The story is still a bit boring in the middle and does lull quite a bit but overall I enjoyed the story. The ending is meant to be a cliff hanger but it doesn’t exactly thrill you to go to the next one but does peak your interest enough to continue the series. The character development is quite rushed, now that I’ve completed the second book. I feel there could have been a bit more development with the main character and the supporting ones to understand their importance a bit more.

Love love love this one. It’s less like Harry Potter than the first one, so I spent way less time making comparisons. I love that we got to lean more into time travel than the first one. The pacing is a little too fast at times, but I think that that’s just because it’s middle grade. My biggest complaint is that we don’t get to see the whole friend group nearly as much, so I hope when I read the third one they’re in it more. I think people who hated this series might just hate fun because it’s just sweet and happy and fun!!! live laugh oliver blue

Morgan rice is an excellent writer. All her books are easy and fast to read. I like the story, but I'm a bit bothered by the villains.

Just as in the first book: there are so many bullies. The villains are evil just for the sake of being evil or a bully.

This book gives you an insight of the side of the villains too. But there are no real emotions/stories explaining why they go through all this effort (change their body, travel through time etc.) to hurt Oliver and the school.

But still: fun/easy read!

Awesome once again

Morgan Rice has once again created a series that pulls you in and doesn't let go. In this second book, Oliver goes through a lot and comes out the other side. I love that in this series great historical figures are weaved in. It's great for the younger generation to become interested in them

Bought this earlier today, could by wait to start it (even pausing my other read). Several more similarities to Harry Potter, his family, friends & teachers, aside from that (& them being for younger readers) I love these books. The story is fast paced & I love the concept of going back in time to meet a different historical figure. Ps don't miss Chris' Darth Vader moment 😁

This is a delightful book that is a nice weave of entertainment, action, historical fiction, and suspense all rolled into a nice book. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next in the series. This book is a great example of Morgan Rice's work which always includes interesting historical tidbits along with edge of your seat action scenes. Never a dull moment.

It kept me reading...

Enjoyed the fast moving plot. I had to find out what the characters (both good and evil) where going to do to get themselves out of some really sticky situations. Would recommend for young readers (preteen and teens) as well as adults who are young at heart. It’s a fun, fast read.

I give this book three stars. I like the plot (it does feel like Harry Potter). I have an issue with the fighting between Oliver and Chris. That went on every interactions the brothers have and it just gets to be a bit much. It started taking away from the value of the book. I didn’t hate it, just had brotherly fighting fatigue. I’ll be reading the rest of the series for sure!

I couldn't keep the book down. It's a fast paced novel. Literally makes one fall in love with Oliver blue and other characters as well. The writting is so apt that I literally could feel all the emotions the book was potraying. Excellent read:)

The characters are 12 year olds but have older knowledge. Oliver and his friends go through a time shift to find the Orb that will save the school. Strangely, none of the teachers move through time - just the kids. Lacks some logic.

I am disappointed with this series. I got as far a chapter twenty one and stopped reading. This work is not up to the works that have been written in the past.
