About the author

Octavia Grant found her passion for Creative Writing in 2002, while a Junior in high school. She began writing professionally in 2016, two years later she decided to take the reins of her literary career and became an Independent Author. As an Independent Author, Octavia has penned over 30 novels. She’s spoken on the Thriller Author Panel at ESSENCE Fest, been interviewed by Narrator iiKane, interviewed by Literary Reviewer and Movie Commentator Tamara Walker of Tam Telling Tales, featured in magazines WYB Lifestyle, VoyageJacksonville, Canvas Rebel, named in 160 Black Women In Horror. Octavia is one of those authors that you come to expect a certain type of storyline from and every so often you find a book tucked snugly within her catalog that really shocks you with the ending. This was one of those books!

This book starts out with Ms. Taniya Patterson waking up from a coma after being shot in the head twice. Thanks to her weave install, she gets a second chance at life! 😆

When the detectives come to question her to see who would have motive to harm her, she takes these detectives and us readers on a soap ride we won’t soon forget!!

This 👏🏽 was 👏🏽 so 👏🏽 good!!! Read the book! That is all!!

Wheww Taniya definitely had some secrets to reveal! When someone shoots her & leaves her for dead, the suspect list grows as she reveals secrets of some of the most powerful people in the city. She’s leaving everyone’s mouth agape, including the investigators leaving them shocked and speechless!

Crazy in love

Chilllllle Ms. Grant does not disappoint. I knew what it was for Ms. Sunshine out the gate because of the cover. However, all the tea that was spilled was woooow. I didn't call that plot twist at the end 😳. I love how she always gives us a crazy spin on these stories.

Miss Sunshine was a whole vibe, and the stories of the men who could be responsible for her incident, were 🔥. The who and the why blew my damn head wide open, cause what??? 👀 Our girl don't miss, and this one took me around the world in 53 pages! 😂

Although short, this 💎💎💎💎💎story by @otaneka packed a powerful punch. That plot twist was one I didn't see coming!

As with all of the other Octavia Grant books that I’ve read so far, I wish “Confessions of a Divo” was longer. I really enjoyed it. It’s a whodunit story told from the POV of Taniya.

Given the cover and title, I could assume what this book was about, but I wasn’t expecting the ending. Like, I figured out who did it pretty early on but I couldn’t figure out the “why”. When I say my mouth dropped at the revelation, that hoe was damn near on the floor.

If the book were longer, I would’ve liked to read about the dynamic between Taniya, Pam, and Clyde. I just *know* it would be messy for a bit, and I love me some good mess in a book lol.

This was a horrible book..like really? I just feel like a wasted a while 2 days of life. I had to force myself to finish it. So your a tranny that mess with high profile men and they all kinda crazy and threatens you at one point but the real suspect is the best friend who had 2 kids for you? Like that was ridiculous and she been jealous of you messing w. All these men and got tired and tried to kill you? Then you in love w. Her and only want her to yourself it was just to much and not enough at the same time

This is my first book by this author Octavia Grant and this will not be my last. Had me hooked from start to finish I could not put this book down. I love the way the storyline flowed. The way Sunshine told every story was like watching a movie. I would have never thought it would have ended like this. I wanted more... This is a must read 10 stars for me great job!!

This was a short ride but baabbyyy it was a wild one 🤣 I did not see that ending coming at allll. Like literally even when we were getting little pieces I still didn’t expect that 🫢 When she was name dropping my mouth was literally on the floor 😱 Also if someone shot & attempted to kill me intentionally, I’m not giving them a pass on that! I genuinely would have loved if this was a full length confessional diary of sorts but I still enjoyed it for what it was!

Another short story by Ms. Grant that left my mouth hanging open. These were nothing like Usher’s Confessions in his song! LOL. 53 pages of WOW! Octavia writes the hell out of some short stories. My question is: where are all these inches coming from??? In my Juvenile voice “your short stories be taking over for the ‘99 and 2000s!”

I figured it was Pam when the twins came into the room and she panicked. I did not in any way see Taniya as being Tanya's and Taneesha's father!!! That revelation blew me away, solidifying the 5 star rating! I am very pleased with this short story and eagerly look forward to reading more books from this amazing author!!!!

This is my first book by Octavia Grant and this will not be my last. I was hooked from the Title. I love the way the story-line flowed. The way Sunshine told each story had me like damn. Wasn't ready for the ending, it was like say what now. I can't wait to read another book from this Author 5 stars all the way around. Awesome job!!

Intriguing read

I enjoyed the story line it kept me interested in reading. Was surprised with sexuality twist. This occurs so much today but everyone must recieve individual judgements for their actions in life. I would recommend friends and individuals with non-judgmental minds to read this book.

Octavia you sure know how to take a person on a spin. The ending was twisty as hell. WTH did Sushine expect was going to happen going around slangin danggalang like that.
The culprit had me clutching my pearls Chile. Although, I peeped the kids names and figured something kinky had went down between them two. But dam! What a great short read. I love it!

It’s Not What You Know But Who

I suspected the “who” just not the “why” 🥴😮🤦🏾‍♀️‼️ Nevertheless, in classic Octavia Grant style “Confessions Of A Divo” was/is skillfully delivered, masterfully creative & yet still selfishly sadistic. …but a darn good read 🤷🏾‍♀️with great personal & professional connections🤭‼️Clearly, it’s not what you know but who👨🏾‍⚖️‼️

When I say Octavia doesn't miss...This book had my attention the whole time. I kind of predicted the outcome though. It was still worth the read. This book even had some funny bits in it, but mostly jaw dropping lol.
When you read one of Octavia's books you will be forever hooked.

4 🌟 Ahhhhh!!! I wanted more from this story! But what I did read was thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. And surprisingly, the MC in this one wasn't unreliable, deranged and actually likeable! Kudos.

Octavia Grant never misses imo. I will most definitely make it my mission to read through her entire catalog of books before the end of 2025. The way her mind works never ceases to amaze me!

A Crazy Thriller!

This thriller is absolutely insane! The plot twist has my mind blown 🤯. Sunshine is made for high dollar type dudes and the men she get under have a lot to lose if she's ever found out. Using it to her advantage get her some perks, but she gotta find out who wanna off her for those advantages.

Twisted

So why am I just realizing this author is truly twisted??? I've read enough of her books. I should've known. Shaking my head and picking up my jaw. I swear I didn't see this coming...Loved it. BUT I would be rating her books all 5 stars if she would get a better editor.
