if you're going to kick out three of these books in a row and give us a binge read. make sure to actually put some fucking plot and real character development into all of them and not just one!
sylor is one of my fave smol babies and his arc could have been fucking fantastic. but nooooo he was luke warm at best. and that just pisses me off.
and don't get me started on nesta. i mean did you really write about a girl with some claustrophobia and then NOT GIVE SOME CLOSURE ON IT?! like the fuck was that character development?! she was basically a shy/young/skittish thing and you make her pop out a badass in a chapter?!?
Sylor Conquered World Book 9 by Elin Wyn Nesta lives underground, she is so hungry she stole a few apples from an older woman. Sylor catches her and puts her in jail. Sylor os trying to find a way out of the dome city. It is covered in vines from top to bottom. Nesta can help him but she wants her freedom. This is a great story about overcoming to the first feelings they had for each other and starting to have different feelings. This book can be read alone from the other books in this series but I highly recommend all the books of this series. They all have a different story to tell and I truly enjoyed them all. I received an advanced reader copy from bookfunnel and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
Sylor is a genius inventor, and a Valorni alien. When he runs across the thief Nesta, stealing food, it proves to be an advantageous meeting. Nesta normally lives and works in the underground world beneath the city of Nyeheim. A city which is currently surrounded by vines, with no obvious way out, and no way to destroy the vines. Thing is, Nesta thinks she knows a way out, underground. Sylor is tasked with getting the one thing that might destroy the vines, and he’s going to need Nesta’s help.
This ninth trip to Ankau, with its population of humans and aliens, brings us back to the mysterious vine creature affecting the planet. As with the other books in the series, this doesn’t stand alone, but is one of an ongoing storyline in which you need to have read the previous books first. The romance is swift and sweet, but the background story, the ongoing plot, actually takes up more space as the romance fits into it, like a parts of a whole.
It’s an enjoyable series, and I recommend it for lovers of sci-fi romance.
Valorni warrior Sylor is not typical of his species as he craves discipline and order. But a certain human female criminal makes him forget everything that he believes in. Human Nesta hates the world on the surface as there are far too many rules which do not fit into her only way to survive which required her to take what she needed. After meeting Sylor she wonders when her needs changed to include a green-skinned and possessive alien? Can they work together to find a way outside of the trapped city?
I enjoyed this story but not quite as much as some of the other ones as I found Nessa to be a very strange person. I loved the quest they went on as well as the discovery of the underground world with its own economy, rules and management hierarchy. Sylor might have started out as an alien with a stick up his backside but he soon changed into a more reasonable and considered alien. I love the way that these aliens become more rounded people after they find love with a human. Well written and easy to read. Contains explicit sexual content.
Book 9 in the Conquered world series and still going strong.. I absolutely adore this series and look forward to more adventures to come. In this book we meet Sylor a Valorni warrior whos duty is to find a way to get rid of the vines surrounding the city....so many experiments and tests failing that the weapons designer and expert is going out of his mind...he has tried everything reasonable and Unreasonable but the vines are not budging...that is until the thief Nesta .....another pain in his a$$ .....tells him that she knows a way out of the city and where to find the toxin that could destroy the vines... Sylor is shocked to discover that underneath each city there is a thriving community of humans that have hidden themselves from the rest if the planet. Will the sassy outspoken thief come through and help or is she looking for a way to escape the enclosed city?
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
Again I was entertained with another aspect of the saga. This was a completely different story. The h was a tough one and her story was so different from all the other heroines. Sylor was such a matter of fact H and pretty intense as well. Together the 2 were a complete parody. Her tale was a tortured one which pulled a sad emotion from me. Her dilemma acted as a catalyst for the H to change his mind about her. And there the romance starts. Even the steamy scenes are, if one can imagine, slightly different. The world Elin builds in this book is brilliant. Where one's imagination can go, it virtually does. Everything seemed possible In the most unusual of places. Just loved the unfolding of this magnificent, imaginative story. There is the everpresent angst and suspense as the H and h went on their adventure to save the day..or this novel. Again it was a great listen, especially Piers, as he added yet another accent.
Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?
- 1 to 8 + Book 9, 10, 11, 12 - book 13, 14 +15 +- book 16, 17 + book 18
What begins as a rocky start for Nesta and Sylor soon turns to something else all together different.
Sylor is a take action kind of alien. He's strong and capable. What he wasn't expecting was a tiny woman that when angered would test the nerves of a saint.
Nesta is my soul sister for sure. I laughed so much at her throughout the entire story. She's snarky, rough around the edges, stubborn and won't take crap from anyone.
Together they are on an important mission. They might start off as enemies but that doesn't last long. The story is exciting, dangerous, vividly described, and quite humorous at times. Definitely would recommend reading. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.
The story itself had a good pacing and flow, but I just didn't find the MCs all that interesting. I never really felt the romance between them, it felt more like they were antagonistic and then found themselves together. Nesta is young and at times it comes across a bit too much through the story (she does show some maturity as the story progresses, but she still came across as young). Sylor was okay, but he just seemed a bit bland, especially compared to some of the previous heroes from this series. I'm glad we're seeing some progress with the Puppet Master story-line, but the overall story just didn't have the same drama I've seen in the previous books.
Ohhh where to start? Ok I really like this series, I love the excitement of it and the anticipation of each staggering obstacle in the characters path. I like how the romance plays out and I adore how each character brings something new to the story. I just didn’t like Nesta, she is completely lacking in any moral fiber, not a hint of decency or empathy for anyone not directly connected to her and even then it’s fickle. She was all about helping Sylor only because it would help her people but when things come to a head she didn’t think about „her people“ when she decided to stay and let Sylor return alone, without knowing if what he carried would help with the dome at all. At the end I was really wishing he’d find someone better.

Each of the conquered world books takes us deeper Into the struggles of the alienating unwittingly brought war to this new planet, the human s who live here and the active plant and animal !I've trying to kill everyone. Each book seamlessly picks up where the last one leaves off weaving a sense of tension , actor and lots of passion and love. In this story Sylor who is an alien weapons expert catches a thief who changes his life forever. 💖 Nesta a young woman raised in an under ground world who struggled with day to day needs but never gives up a d is a survivor. Together these two find away to save their home, learn to trust and to d an acceptance that neither one ever expected. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Much better then the previous book. Liked the wrap up. Still think the couples need more getting to know each other before stating they are in love vs. in lust. Still love planet, but get stuck about logic of tech, etc. one thing is the tunnel. Logic would have the General have teams widen it and shore it up while they worked on toxin i As back up. 1) in case it didn’t work and they had to evacuate. 2) for food, supplies for residents while waiting
At first I didn't like the woman in this story. She was not a very nice lady and very rough around the edges. Yet, as I read more into hers and Sylor's story, things developed and she grew. I wondered way she was only 19 but now it makes sense as we see her mature in the novel.
This was pretty good. Sylor and Nesta didn’t hold my interest in the story as well as with other books. I felt more elaboration on things were missing. Or certain areas were just rushed. I couldn’t get a real sense of anything. It was a good read though
Sylor and Nesta is awesome story and like most of these stories I see love, teamwork, dedication, family and determination to always make things better.
I enjoyed this book. Both characters were likable and not at all cookie cutter. I thought the ending was a little odd, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I would recommend.
I've really been enjoying this series. I wasn't sure that I was going to enjoy this one because of the description of the main female lead. As it turned out, it is another good story that progresses the story arc of the series. It wasn't one of my favorites, but it was worth reading.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of SYLOR . This is a very interesting story . This is book nine and I could never get tired of this series . While each story is different characters the story should be read one after the other to get the complete story . It's well written . This is SYLOR a Valorni warrior and a human female Nesta the thief . They set out on a journey to find a toxin that may help save the village from the giant plant creature . They never thought Love was possible because they didn't even think they liked each other . I really enjoyed reading this story . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy .
Prim and proper Saylor catches Nessa a their in the act of stealing apples . The two come together while finding a toxin to beat the puppet master. It is a fun book to read.
