June 3, 2019Every man should be forced to read Only, Not Only, to learn the patient and disappointed wisdom of women. I open to (at random):
She turns her eyes away.
He won’t miss them
or else
he’ll understand
all this brightness
pressing them shut.
The title suggests that loneliness is not entire; we all have friends and strangers within us. (That’s who populates our poems.) For example:
But I’m stuck
with this creep who says
it’s time to switch to Cokes.
