It again was quite a heartwarming story and I just love all the illustrations.

This was fun and a perfect choice to read during our own heat-wave! I do recommend this and the first book in the series -- the British humor amuses me and there's a bit of an Animal Crossing vibe with the quirky cast of animal characters and the lone human protagonist ;-) so I recommend the series with the caution that we were not fans of the "Fabulous Feast" installment.

This book is awesome! My favourite character in this book is Madame Le Pig. She is the chef at Hotel Flamingo. My favourite part was how they set up a surprise for the king and queen penguins. I learnt to always work as a group and be kind to one another. I finished reading this book in two days! I love this book❤️

This was a fun chapter book to read aloud to my 5 year old. He has enjoyed this series.

My second visit to this amazing hotel and oh boy it was a hot and royal visit! Perfect for the weather here with hot weather, and while I do have a lake near me at the camping, I wouldn't mind an extra iceberg or two. I did feel sorry for Anna for all the things that happened but she sure was an inspiration. She tried her best to make everything perfect for everyone, royal or not. The whodunnit on the sabotage, oh boy that person was indeed on my suspicious people list. I loved the royal family they turned out way less snobby and more normal than I had expected based on the list of requirements. Fun illustrations, I just adore them. Also apparently a search for a bug however I was so emersed in the story that I didn't know I had to find them.

Anna und ihre Mitarbeiter:innen sind aufgeregt und haben ein wenig Sorge, es den Pinguinen nicht recht zu machen. Ständig geht etwas schief und langsam beschleicht Anna der Verdacht, das hier etwas nicht richtig ist – irgendjemand scheint sie zu sabotieren. Doch wer? Da steckt doch bestimmt der fiese Mr. Rüpel vom Hotel Glitz dahinter, oder? Seit Anna das Hotel Flamingo übernahm, lässt er nichts unversucht, ihr zu schaden und sie schlecht zu reden. Doch Anna weiß sich, mithilfe ihrer Freund:innen, zu behaupten.
Auch der 2. Band ist abenteuerlich & lustig & liebevoll illustriert. Großer Lesespaß ab 6 Jahren.

We finished Holiday Heatwave (book two of a four-book series) last night and we’re eager to start book three as our love for Anna and her animal friends continues to grow with each adventure at Hotel Flamingo!
This illustrated chapter book is perfect for summer and recommended for ages 5+ (though my three-year-old enjoyed it as much as her two older sisters). 😎🌴🦩

Comme je le disais sur ma chronique du premier tome, j’ai lu cette suite dans la foulée.
Les illustrations sont encore une fois un véritable régal pour les yeux, je trouve qu’elles donnent un réel plus au récit.
L’hôtel Flamingo est maintenant bien ré-ouvert et les clients s’enchaînent. mais la jeune Anna ne sait pas encore que des invités quelque peu exigeants vont faire de sa vie plus ou moins tranquille, un véritable défi de taille. Ces invités ne sont que le couple royal Pingouin ainsi que leurs bambins. Le couple est un habitué de l’hôtel rival du Flamingo, le propriétaire ne va d’ailleurs pas franchement apprécier que ses clients veulent se rendre dans un autre endroit que son hôtel. Le voilà bien furieux, il va tout mettre en oeuvre pour que ceux qu’il considère comme ses clients, veulent à tout prix quitter le Flamingo.
Heureusement, Anna peut toujours compter sur ses employés ainsi que sur ses nouveaux amis qu’elle a rencontré durant la ré-ouverture de son hôtel. Mais que faire lorsque tout ce que vous faite est presque aussitôt saboté ? Qui est cette personne qui aide le propriétaire du Clinquant ? Anna va-t-elle réussir à satisfaire ses clients exigeants tout en ne lésant pas les autres ?
Un défi de taille pour Anna cette fois, mais je suis partie confiante et j’avais entièrement confiance en elle pour la voir réussir.
Il faudra attendre le prochain été pour avoir la joie de retrouver Anna et l’hôtel Flamingo, mais je serai clairement au rendez-vous. J’ai été complètement conquise par ces deux premiers tomes.

First I thought I wouldn't write a review, since I didn't think this story would need more of a review from me than the first one got, but I think I do have to write this out just because this annoyed me a lot.
The story starts off promising, it's still all very cute, very heart-warming... The royal penguins are coming to visit, so the staff at Hotel Flamingo have to make all sorts of arrangements to accommodate them, at the expense of other guests. Not every animal likes the cold temperature or the huge iceberg in the swimming pool...
And this is where I thought that oh, this is going to provide us with internal conflict. The whole point of Hotel Flamingo was that everyone is welcome, and now everything looks like people are not welcome anymore as Hotel Flamingo gets fancier. I thought that Anna has to really think about her values and stuff, and I thought wow, this is a pretty heavy subject for kids: is sacrificing your values for work worth it?
But they didn't really go there, only in passing. It was easier to get an external conflict and a some kind of antagonist involved. Like I seriously was excited that maybe this book has an almost anti-capitalist message, that you don't need to sacrifice ethics and values for work and money, but I think the book went a safer route. Maybe that's good, IDK if the target audience is ready for such heavy themes, but also... This has been explored in children's movies such as Monsters Inc., so why not here? Maybe the author just didn't want to, I don't know. I just was kind of let down by this.

Nyt sitten kuninkaallisia pingviinejä on vailla majapaikkaa, ja he saapuvat tällä kertaa hotelli Flamingoon, vaikka aiemmin ovat yöpyneet hotelli Hohdossa, joka on Flamingon pahin kilpailija. Hotelli Hohtoa pyörittää juonitteleva ja röyhkeä leijona nimeltä Herra Villipeto. Herra Villipeto vannoo tekevänsä kaikkensa, jotta Hotelli Flamingon käy huonosti, kun hän kuulee menettäneensä kuninkaalliset asiakkaansa.

Julia en haar team zoeken het uit, want zoals altijd, wil ze dat haar gasten het perfect naar hun zin hebben!
Leuk vervolg op het eerste boek, opnieuw een tof en spannend avontuur met alle dieren van Hotel Flamingo.
Het verhaal is leuk geschreven, de illustraties in zwart-wit-roze zijn mooi gemaakt.
Dit boek is perfect om voor te lezen, maar ook jonge lezers zullen dit snel zelf kunnen lezen.
De hoofdstukken zijn niet te lang, het is een aangenaam lettertype en de prenten doorheen het verhaal maken het boek echt af.

I really enjoyed the summery feel of Holiday Heat Wave. It's quite amusing to have penguins showing up at a hotel in the middle of a heatwave expecting to have an iceberg in the pool. Anna is quite industrious and ultimately gets them what they want, with a few mishaps due to sabotage from someone trying to undermine the hotel and make them look bad in front of their first royal guests. I quite enjoy the illustrations by the author, Alex Milway. They're lively and the pink hues do match the theme of hotel flamingo. This would be a fun series for summer reading and especially for someone who enjoys animal stories. I'm excited to be able to donate it to my public library for kids to enjoy. A crazy heatwave takes over Animal Boulevard! Unfortunately for Anna, it strikes when royalty is visiting Hotel Flamingo!
Bad things may happen that you cannot control, but don't lose sight on why you're doing what you're doing. People may try to sabotage or undermine you, but your perseverance will help you through it all. Anna and her staff prove this time and time again. If you're having a tough time, having people you can trust and depend on can make a huge difference.
My favorite quote from this book. It is so accurate and relatable in life.
"Perhaps perfection doesn't always rest in things being perfectly tidy, or perfectly clean, or perfectly presented. Perhaps perfection is also about a feeling of happiness."

This was a cute follow-up to Hotel Flamingo and a fun read aloud with my six-year-old. In this story, Anna learns that the king and queen penguin have chosen her hotel for their stay over the Glitz where they usually stay. This leads to Mr. Ruffian, owner of the Glitz, being even more of a villain than usual. It also puts Anna in the unique position of catering to the special needs of the royal family. While she aims for perfection to impress the king and queen, she compromises what makes Hotel Flamingo special - its inclusion of animals of all kinds. This book has lots of unique characters with great personalities, a little bit of mystery and suspense, and some good moral lessons in the end.

We finished the second the Alex Milway’s Hotel Flamingo series, Holiday Heatwave.
There’s a bit of a mystery in the one as Anna and her animal employees try to figure out who is sabotaging the hotel. Hotel Flamingo is hosting a group of royal penguins and someone is determined to make sure their stay is miserable. Of course breaking the air conditioning and turning the heat up, which doesn’t really work for animals that want cold, also where the title is coming from.
These books are a lot of fun. It’s especially amusing to see how the characters are a mix of people but still act as animals as well. We’ll definitely be continuing the series!

In this book Anna the hotel manager has a task to create the perfect welcoming setting for the royal penguins!
However as a heatwave occurs, sabotage also does and their rival Glitz hotel is the suspect but a shock changes everything...
It was a great mystery throughout especially with the animal twist at the end, no spoilers here but it was clever and not a simple story the setting was a hotel suffering a heatwave while trying to accommodate penguins which in itself was intriguing to how it would work!
However as a heatwave occurs, sabotage also does and their rival Glitz hotel is the suspect but a shock changes everything...

A fun sequel in this enjoyable series.
I liked the plot with the King and Queen penguin coming. How creative Anna and staff had to be. How everything comes out right in the end.
Lots of fun characters -- the penguins, Ronnie Rathbone, Mr Camou, the warthogs, and all the favorit staff members from the first book.
Such a fun series to read aloud! So many characters that make for great voices. Love the pink tinted pictures and the short chapters. We all get invested in the story.

Other than a few “gollys” “Heavens no,” and “gee whiz’s” they are really clean and cute reads. No potty humor.
Hotel Flamingo Holiday Heatwave has one instance where the hotel owner Anna says “the flamingos can anything! Magic, theater, dance. They are sure to play instruments too. But other than that no actual magic. Mr. Ruffian and Madame Le Pig get in a little fight. There is another part where the chameleon gets taken by surprise and doesn’t have time to change colors and they joke by saying he is “nude”… someone mentions it’s not embarrassing because his skin is “like magic.”

This series is such fun! When the royal family comes to stay, Anna has to deal with someone trying to sabotage her lovely hotel. I love that everything Anna does, she does it with kindness. These books are so beautifully illustrated and have gorgeous little bits of science throughout!!

My son and I are really enjoying this series. Anna, Lemmy and T. Bear are charming and funny and really show you what team work can accomplish. My son also loved finding the hidden dragonflies throughout the story. We can’t wait to start book 3!

Another fun book in the ‘Hotel Flamingo’-series! I’ve read this at bedtime with my 8-year-old, and when we finished, she often wanted to read the next chapter on her own. For someone who is more into comicbooks, this is quite an accomplishment.
