The Last Single Girl

Get a date for the big gala in four weeks when I thought I could go solo? Challenge, accepted.

Now to find a hot, interesting guy who will dress up for a gala. Last minute. Who doesn't already have plans on the busiest date night of the year.

But, so far the best part of the search for a great date has been the cute café I found and the geeky-hot owner who keeps rescuing me from these crazy eLove.com dates.

This should be easy-peasy. The internet is the home of all your hopes and needs, right?

Spoiler Alert: it isn't.

Between the bromance date and the crazed single dad who needs to hire a nanny and housekeeper, not get a date, I'm running out of options.

If only a certain cutey didn't have a phone call with "sweetheart" every day.

The weirder things get, the more I think just going solo is very I Am Woman, blah blah blah. Forget about the fact that my heart keeps bringing me back to a certain café even when I don't need to be there...I mean, my heart doesn't always get what it wants, does it?

This was light and predictable and very fun. I enjoyed the banter and the humor and the bit of character growth even in such a short story. It's only real fault is the predictability of the story, but I had a great time going with the flow.

A note about Chaste: Exactly the right number of very sweet kisses at the very end.

What happens when New Year’s Eve night that supposes to be girls’ night out turns into a couples’ night out? That’s fine, right? But what if you’re the last single girl who happens to have a very competitive friend that keeps rubbing on you how loser you are in the dating world? That’s outrageously frustrating and teeth-shatteringly infuriating.

Sarah only has a month to find the perfect date for New Year’s Eve. Her solution: eLove.com. But what she thought a solution turned out to be a disaster. From Date One to Date Five, she dated two guys at the same day that happened to be best of friends, encountered a divorced father with three annoying kids, met a married guy with despicable wife, and alas, was perfectly ditched via text by a guy even before she met him. Yup, total disaster.

But one guy, the one she never realized is perfect was just right in front of her.

The Last Single Girl is a chick lit and funny short read. Set in Brew Ha Ha café, Sarah embarks the dating world that starts as major disaster but ends up with her own version of happily ever after.

A solid 3 stars. Nothing wrong with it, but awkward sentences and typos pinged my McFussy radar and pulled me out of an already bland story. Am I out of the loop or is “walling decor” a thing?

While it wasn’t categorized as YA, it seemed like an escapee from that genre. It felt like a faintly disguised beginner’s guide to the ins and outs of eDating. The author does write YA books so… 🤷🏻‍♀️

A chain restaurant, I can’t remember which one, used to serve dessert in shot glasses - a fantastic idea that should be implemented at every restaurant. After a substantial meal you could have a tiny little bit of cheesecake or chocolate mousse or tiramisu. Quick, sweet, delicious, and familiar but you enjoyed it immensely, didn’t feel guilty about eating it, and would be happy to have more of it in the future.

The Last Single Girl is the literary equivalent of a shot glass full of tiramisu. You have read some variation of this novel before, you know exactly how it’s going to end, but it’s a quick read and you still enjoy it.

It was okay.

Cute, short, quick read. There were moments that I think the author was trying to be funny, but it fell flat.

{shrugging shoulders} I guess I’ll try the next one.

4 stars. This was suuuuch a cute novella. I don't normally read "clean" romance - because something always seems to be missing - but this one was just fine (the story ends right before there would have been time for any sexy stuff). This story is about a girl who wants to find a date to a new years party and so she sets up five dates through a dating website - all at the same location (the Brew Ha Ha). OFC, she starts getting to know the owner, and they become friends. The entire story is pretty light-hearted and low-angst. I really was pleasantly surprised.

Safe; no OW drama, slight OM drama, totally clean romance, no cheating.

The Last Single Girl de Caitie Quinn es una novela rapida de leer, corta y sencilla, no es la mas original o profunda pero es tierna y agradable, quizas le falto un poco mas de desarrollo ( sobre todo en los ultimos capitulos ) pero esta bien para pasar un rato entretenida.

Sarah finds herself in a bit of a pickle when the girl's night out on New Years Eve turns into a couple's night out. She does not want to be known as the loser of the group so she tells everyone that she's got a mystery man of her own and to still count her in!

The next month is filled with random dates in hopes of finding that special someone to take with her on New Years Eve. And let me tell you... she has some pretty hilarious dates! She decided to have all her dates at a little coffee shop called The Brew Ha Ha. While waiting on the different dates she's able to get to know the owner, John. She sees him as her sober bartender and discusses various things about her dates. They are able to get to know each other as friends and they have a really good relationship.

When all Sarah's dates fall threw she decides that she is going to just go as the last single girl for New Years Eve and pretty much put her frenemy, Claire, in her place. Little does she know that John was not going to let that happen and surprises her at the event. Of course they had a blast and she realizes that she is falling in love with him but doesn't know how to move forward from here. But don't worry... John knows exactly what he's doing! ;)

So while I REALLY enjoyed this book and I was able to laugh and escape this crazy thing called life I could only give it 4 stars. Why?! Because it just ENDED!! I HATE that!! If only there was just a little bit more I would have been a even happier camper but alas... I got nothing! :( But don't let that stop you from reading this book! It really is a cute book! I promise!

This was a quick fun read. I enjoy Bria's adult books. This Brew Ha ha series is a fun one. This was a cute story of online or blind dating. I love how it ended. I like this authors style of writing. This is clean. There is a little talk about sex, just what certain words mean when you are posting on a dating sight.

This was such a sweet and cute novella. Not too much story, just clean and simple. Sarah needs a NYE date and starts online dating. She has 5 hilarious dates at John’s tea shop. I immediately liked John. He wasn’t Sarah’s type, but it’s clear from the beginning that the other guys won’t do. I liked both MC’s and it was just so warming to spend two hours curled up with this book. Will definitely read the others in this series.

Safety: safe with exception, because Sarah does go on dates with OM. Hero just a few months single after a long-term relationship. Not a manwhore. No OW drama or cheating. Clean romance, no sex scenes at all.

Fun, quirky and cute quick read

This was a really sweet romance that had me smiling and laughing, even feeling a little sad for Sarah and her emotions and struggle being the last single girl in her group of friends.

All of Sarah's close friends have gotten married and many of her acquaintance type friends have recently found boyfriends. All of her friends are scheduled to have a big girl's night on New Year's Eve. But because of all of them finding boyfriends they decide to turn it into a group date. Unfortunately Sarah is the odd one out who hasn't dated anyone in quite a while and has no prospects. Sarah assures Claire, the sort of ringleader and snotty character of the group, that she has a guy she's been seeing and is happy to go along with the group date. When in all actuality Sarah is terrified! What was she thinking? What were her friends thinking changing their plans just because they all found boyfriends?

Sarah turns to her best friend, who is married, for advice. What advice does her friend give? Online dating...

Sarah isn't sure if she likes the idea but feels pressured to find a date whom she can pass off as her boyfriend. So thus starts her e-dating experience. She finds a cute little coffee shop close to her home where she can meet up with her potential boyfriends and chat with them.

When she first comes to The Brew Ha Ha(coffee shop name) she meets the owner, John. He realizes right away that she is having a first date when guy #1 arrives.

The dates are all pretty humorous to read about and watch progressing into whatever they progress to(I don't want to spoil the fun for you). John steps in and saves the day or sits and talks to Sarah after each date and gives her advice for all the guys she sees.

Sarah continues to feel the pressure from her friends and her mom for finding the perfect guy but she is not sure what she should do or who she should choose.

When New Year's Eve arrives will Sarah finally have a date or will she show up single to the party?

It was a really cute read. There were a couple swear words and a very mild innuendo. But overall very clean. I downloaded a free copy from Amazon.

Happy Reading!!!

You could see how this story would end, from a mile away.  But, the obviousness didn't make the story, or the characters, any less enjoyable.  This was an extremely quick read.  I love how it left out mundane, unnecessary details.  The story jumped right into the meat of what was taking place, and moved briskly along.  No surprises, no excessive drama, and nothing too sappy.  This was just a sweet down-to-earth romance about a woman trying to find love, and I really enjoyed it.

Super cute!

I actually read the second one in the series a while back and loved it. Happened to find this one on a BookBub offer and was so excited because it’s been on my TBR forever. Totally worth shuffling the list to read it this week. Super cute, quirky, and witty without being over the top. Just a perfect balance of mishaps and adorkableness. Great characters, perfect length and pacing. Loved it! Totally worth 4.5 stars, I’m just stingy with the 5s.

This book was one hilarious and tantalizing read! The author's writing style is amazing and captivating. The best way to deal with unwanted singleness is to laugh it out!

So Sarah and the girls are supposed to have a single girls' night out on New Year's Eve. But competitive Claire changes it all in a heartbeat by having the girls bring in their dates, switching the theme to couples' hangout. The girls except for Sarah, that is. Sarah has no date. Isn't that precious, Claire must have thought; it shouldn't be that hard for her to find one by then. Poor Sarah! Would she be sitting alone at the table, watching the others cosying up to their sweethearts?

Well, that's why we have the Internet! Seek an eligible bachelor online and hold on to him until it's time to meet the girls. It's that easy, isn't it? Uhh, no, actually. Read on to find out what happens!

I laughed on almost every page; the author's humour is the best! As a single girl, I also related well with Sarah and understood her plight. The Last Single Girl made for one very delightful read with tons of lessons learned. Highly recommended! The Last Single Girl Bria Quinlan

Every girl dreads being the last girl. The last girl out of her friends to have boyfriend, marriage or a child. Yes, I know it's silly, but it's so true. Anyways, we follow the adventure of Sarah Gable to finding a date for New Years Eve, since her friends decided to change plans when they all found boyfriends over Thanksgiving. I know doesn't give her enough time to find a guy, but she decides to go through the process of finding a guy through the wonderful world of online dating.

Along the way she has brought us some Dating Truths which are:

1. Just when you've comfortably established a group of single girlfriend, disasters strikes. (Yes, this does happen. Horrible thing when it happens).

2. No man will ever understand and love you like your best friend does (another fact that is true).

3. My mama always told me, dating was like a box of Crayons. Wait. What? (I know my mother never said anything like this, someone must have after all it's in the book).

4. There's always another another fish in the sea... it's just that we keep dumping toxic waste in the water so who knows what you'll catch next (I have never thought of it like that, but that's kind of funny).

5. The best way to put a bad date behind you is doing something you love... unless the something you love is just more dating. Don't do that.

6. When you can't get any lower, there's always a smug girl with a boyfriend there to knock the emotional step out from under you (she's always there no matter what).

7. Wine. Lots of wine (I think more like whatever your vice is, personally Ben & Jerry works too).

8. When faced with the man of your dreams, the only thing to do is play it cool. Or at least play dumb (playing dumb works better, because it never works playing cool).

9. I am woman, hear me roar. That's right, do not tick me off.

10. Not every Happily Ever After looks the same.

These Dating Truths are hilarious, some of them can apply to real life situations. Sarah applied these truths as she went on her five online potentials which were:

Downtown Doc- Trey
Rock guy- Adam
Suit & Tie Plus-Malcolm
Funny Guy looking for Fun Girl for casual dating- Hank
Love again- Dave

We can't forget John who happens to be the owner of Brew Ha Ha where these dates happen.

Oh my gosh, what a disaster of a good time. I was cracking up throughout the whole story. I mean the dates were horrible, whicmakes you wonder if online dating is even worth it. I know it works for others, but as your read Sarah's adventure you see it doesn't work for her.

I would honestly say I loved this story. It had me laughing throughout the adventure and was worth the read. I love as I got to the end Sarah had a Clueless moment (yes, that is a movie reference). So, if you are looking for some light quick reading you might want to checkout The Last Single Girl, it was a lot of fun to read.

I hope you are all having a wonderful New Years Day!

Actual Stars: 2.0

Reminded me of:
"Turn on the tea & let it brew
I like six cups not one or two
Break out the cups & the honey too
And turn on the tea & let it brew"

3 words to describe it: Bland, sweet and short.
Favorite part: Abby the waitress.

description

I've just read the 3rd installment in the Brew Ha Ha stories and it made this one pale in comparison. I found both characters in this boring, plain and felt no tension or fizzle between them at all. It was all very -sweet- yet the whole online dating thing came off like a parody and the only part of the book that made me smile was Abby.

After reading "The catching kind" I really had high expectations for Caitie Quinn's work so this was a let down for me. The story felt very short and like her previous novel I didn't feel any depth to the supporting characters.

If you are looking for a romantic novel to read, I highly suggest "The catching kind" over "The last single girl."
