“The Fall and the Fallen” part three! Is this the end of Gotham City? Bane’s army of villains is taking over the city, and Batman’s back is against the wall. With all the things Bane has done to him over the last year—from breaking up his wedding to trying to assassinate Nightwing, and then invading Batman’s mind to expose his most terrible fears—could this be the worst hate the Caped Crusader has ever encountered?

The plan finally revealed. All the little intricacies. All the emotional and mental bullseye. Building him up to take a wrecking ball to it. Now it is the time for the final physical breaking.

I still strongly disagree with the idea that Bruce wouldn't be Batman with Selina, that his family isn't enough for him to feel happy, that he's so selfish he wouldn't be able to be both comfortable and a caped crusader. But I have to admit, King's explanations in this issue have some logic. It makes sense if you agree with this first idea. And it means that Thomas Wayne's involvement could very well be the last straw for Bruce's sanity.

One major flaw though: the more issues we get, the more it becomes a graphic novel. I have nothing against that, I for one love King's writing. But I'm not sure it should have been the main Batman title for so long, and I'm starting to really understand why so many readers are frustrated with his run. It's gonna be a dream to read them all at once, though.

Good in the way it put all those pieces together, but again... it look a bit like a filler, they have been stretching this plot for so long now I just can't see how an amazing ending would be enough to close it all. I still hope and I still enjoying it, but at the same time it has to end or bring us somewhere new soon!

Freaking weird to see thomas wayne turn against his son and declare Bane as someone that is beyond "The Batman" and who is "still here" after each damn day. But yea, you gotta see the next issue to understand why.

5 stars to finally bringing an end to the twisted tale that felt like will never end!!
5 stars to not blowing it up!!
5 stars to myself for continuing to read even after all those 2 stars, 3 stars i had to endure before this one.
5 stars to the effort that takes to keeping batman sane even with an insane crew of villains and crazier writers.

I wanted to share a few thoughts on why I enjoyed this book, despite it getting a lot of negative backlash. The art is gorgeous. And while this is kind of a recap episode, it does make some interesting connections to King's overall run. The way those connections are made is not perfect, and often with errors. I cringed when there was a typo where Mortality was written as Morality. However, it does not stop me from thinking that yes, Batman is indeed thinking about his legacy, his mortality. Frankly, this could be the darkest timeline ever. What many critique is the disembodied and meandering plot that seems to go nowhere. But there is a sense of sorrow conveyed that really delves into the psyche of Batman. King's writing is not perfect, but it continues to be ambitious.

It's actually hard to identify the point of this issue. This one recaps Tom King's run on 'Batman', while not really adding much for the readers or anyone following the run neither is really a good starting point for anyone jumping into the bandwagon. And the twist at the end was also something that isn't actually a surprise.

The prose is quite engaging as expected from King delving further into the psyche of both Bruce Wayne and Bane, and the atmospheric drawing by Mikel Janin is dark and foreboding and altogether something to savor on its own.

But readers can thoughtlessly skip this issue, jumping into the next arc knowing they never actually missed anything as nothing much happened here.

All in one all must for any die hard fan of Tom King or Batman, but skip-able for anyone else.

2024 - Year of The Bat (366 Days of Batman)

Day 34: Another 2.5⭐️ read. Felt like padding/filler for issue count. The only interesting thing was the juxtaposition of single pages for “classic” Batman and double page spreads for the modern version.

Libro de transición, no pasa nada, solo recapitula lo pasado. Buen arte.

While it lays out what has happened so far it removes the stakes, contradicts what’s actually happened and rather than move the story forward, it continues to just be filler. Very disappointing.

It's coming together (some elements more plausible than others)
