This box set contains the first four books of the David Wolf Mystery Thriller Series.
FOREIGN DECEIT Sergeant David Wolf of the Sluice County SD headquartered in the ski resort town of Rocky Points, Colorado, receives word that his brother has committed suicide in the Alps of Italy.
Devastation and resentment over his only sibling's selfish act quickly gives way to a nagging suspicion that he isn't getting the whole truth. Conviction alone is enough to pull Wolf from pressing events in his Colorado Rockies home town to the entirely foreign land of Northern Italy, and into a deadlier situation than he could have imagined. With the help of a beautiful officer of the Carabinieri, Wolf must piece together the mystery of his brother's last fateful night without ruffling too many feathers, or paying the ultimate price.
THE SILVERSMITH Deputy Sergeant David Wolf has been waiting sixteen years for today's opportunity to follow in the footsteps of his late father and become Sheriff of the Sluice County SD, headquartered in the small ski resort town of Rocky Points, Colorado. What he's offered, however, isn't quite what he's expecting. And for Wolf, refusing turns out to be harder, and much deadlier, than he could have anticipated. When a rich and powerful enemy corrupts the SCSD from within, Wolf becomes hunted by his own department, along with a special forces killing machine whose psychotic lust for blood is never denied.
In this action-packed, suspense filled adventure -- the second installment in the David Wolf series -- Wolf must draw on all his skills in the high Rocky Mountain forest and solve a disturbing mystery involving an item from his past if he wants to live to see another day.
ALIVE AND KILLING Just for a day, Colorado Sheriff David Wolf trades slogging through murky meltwaters and even murkier small-town politics for an overnight camping trip in the wilderness with his son. But when a man with fresh burns turns up on their trail, falling from the heavy load in his backpack and running wild from something, Wolf suspects his father-son camping trip may have just taken a turn for the worse. Unfortunately his instincts are spot on, and Wolf is forced into action with the last person he wants by his side in a deadly battle — his only son. In this stomach-dropping, action and suspense packed third installment of the David Wolf Mystery Thriller series, Wolf partners with a beautiful FBI agent to bust an inter-continental conspiracy threatening anyone who has the bad enough luck to stumble on it.
DEADLY CONDITIONS The small town of Rocky Points, Colorado has just been hit with an epic snowstorm. When the snow removal process uncovers a dead body -- a young woman brutally murdered and clearly marked with some sort of cryptic message -- Sheriff David Wolf and his deputies are left scrambling to find a killer before he strikes again.
Jeff Carson is from the Front Range of Colorado where he lives with his wife and two sons. His David Wolf series of books takes place in the fictional ski town of Rocky Points, Colorado.
After going to Italy to look into his brother’s supposed suicide and bringing him home for burial, that was where most of this book’s excitement happened. I was surprised at who had actually killed his brother. And I really liked the female Italian cop, Lia, too. Then he came home and solved another death so I thought for sure he’d be given the Sheriff’s positon BUT that wasn’t to be. I guess we had to put up with Derek’s nonsense for a while. See how much trouble he can get himself into before the town council finds out what a mistake they made, or someone kills him.
There was no sex. Except fade-to-black. The F-bomb was used a TOTAL of 29 times in all FOUR books.
THE SILVERSMITH
OMG! David was in so much trouble in this story. The entire sheriff’s department was after him, with orders to shoot first and ask questions later AND Young, the ex-Navy SEAL killer, was trying his best to kill David, too. It was truly so exciting.
No sex, not even a kiss and the F-bomb was used a TOTAL of 29 times in all FOUR books.
ALIVE AND KILLING
WOW! This one was intense. If I remember correctly there were 4 murders, that all had to do with some stolen gold. AND, OMG. I don’t think I would want to be David’s 12 year old son, Jack. First they have to run for their lives through the woods then Jack has a gun battle with the bad guys while his injured dad does his best to get the truck started and not pass out THEN later on Jack is kidnapped and is only seconds from being killed. Whew!
No sex but there is a kiss and I think David has a new girlfriend. The F-bomb was used a TOTAL of 29 times in all FOUR books.
Okay, on to the last book.
DEADLY CONDITIONS
This was a great series. It’s not often that all the good guys seem so real. All the deputies, as well as Sheriff David Wolf, were all so brave and when they got shot they healed and went right back out there. And their love and respect for David was something else entirely. Everyone just knew that whatever happened David was going to have their backs.
I was soooo happy when David stopped dipping snuff, along with Rachett, by the second or third book. There’s nothing more disgusting than that.
OK, so Ash was part of the town council and he was someone you really liked to hate. The way he treated his ex-wife and his son was terrible. And for Ash it was all about money and how many bribes he could take.
There was another 3 or 4 murders and a suicide in this story. It was really exciting all the way through.
There was no sex and the F-bomb was used a TOTAL of 29 times in all FOUR books.
AS to the narrator: Sean Patrick Hopkins was 95% perfect. His male voices and emotions were awesome but his female voices need some work. BUT as I've said before, I can put up with a female with a deeper voice but NOT a man that sounds like a girl.
Fantastic series that becomes hard to put down and has some shocking twists. Beware reading out of order is not recommended in order to enjoy the full level of suspense
I Am So In. I read the first David Wolf novel, "Foreign Deceit," as a stand-alone. I liked it. A lot. But I just wasn't sure about the main character because he was operating outside of his element in the case of his brother's death that occurred in Italy. I wanted to see him on his own turf. I decided to pick up this collection rather than grabbing each book separately.
Having completed books 2-4 I feel I have a pretty firm grip on who David Wolf is and how he operates. Now I feel confident saying I really like this character. He's smart, savvy, cool under pressure, competent, and passionate about his work. He can't be bought by a politician and considers the impact of his decisions on others before he acts. In short, while he's pure alpha, he's not narcissistic. It's about others, not him. But, adding a little spice to this man, he does exhibit a touch of Dirty Harry.
Anyone who enjoys a good thriller/action read about a strong, moral lawman who privately struggles with his demons as he publicly fights criminals and politicians alike, will enjoy these reads. These stories manage to be gritty, yet clean. The antagonists are creepy, nasty, evil, and/or villainous (or any combination thereof). The characters are nicely developed and engaging, and the plots for each of these stories are well-paced. The narration is very well done.
I highly recommend this series and will pick up the rest of these books today.
Colorado Ski Resorts small town politics and a sprinkling of murder when one needs to be silenced. Either to hide an affair or a shady slice of corruption. This set of books can't be put down. I read the first and had to buy the whole box set! The town sheriff is doing his best to keep his job, family his department and town together. He has an off and on ex wife and a growing son. He is trying to live up to his fathers legacy as a sheriff. He finds that murder and small town politics are everywhere. The characters and story line is wonderful. The story flows smoothly from one book to The next. You won't be able to read just one. They are addictive! Excellent story!!!!! I'd give more than five stars if possible.
While running for Sheriff in the town of Rocky Points, CO Sergeant David Wolf finds that his opponent will go to any length to win the job, including murder. Having survived the attempt on his life Wolf finds himself going to Italy to look into the sudden suicide death of his brother and discovers it may not have been suicide after all. And, who is he to trust in a country he knows nothing about?
Meanwhile his opponent is badmouthing him every chance he gets and when David does not win the election he knows something is up.
As it so happens everything that Wolf gets himself into leads him to the reason his father, a former sheriff, died mysteriously.
This was a good series to read, or listen to. I would like to read more.
The David Wolf Mystery Thriller Series Book 1-4 is one of the best writers. Jeff Carson will keep you on pins and needles and can't wait to see what happens next. From the first book # 1 to #4 I tried to guess what was going to happen next, but this author was great,he keeps to wanting to turn the next, next page and never put it down. I wwould recommend this book to everyone, you won't be sorry. I will continue to read all of Jeff Carson books😊
Wolf mystery Thriller Series Books 1-4is one of the best writers. Jeff Carlson will keep you on pins and needles and can't wait to see what happens.
These were my first books from Jeff Carson and I used my free Audible credit last year to read on a 6 hour plane ride on our family vacation. Needless to say, that I didn’t get to read it back then and I’m glad I didn’t because I probably would’ve been bored.
The books were well written however, there was way too much politics for my liking. The first three books were all conspiracies against the MC and they all involved LEO corruption.
I think for the MC’s level of intelligence he should’ve been an FBI agent not a Sheriff Deputy with that being said the author does a great job with the twists and how the MC uncovers them.
However, I really disliked Sarah and the many times she kept on being brought up by the MC. Despite the fact that she lied and cheated and is with someone else the MC is so in love/lust over her. When she breaks up with the other guy everyone keeps telling him to date Sarah.
When they finally get together he’s jealous of any guy that comes near her to the point where he gets into a fight because of mistrust and miscommunication.
Jeff Carson’s writing style is very good, the descriptions are phenomenal, and I’m reading the next box set series.
I bought this series by complete accident. I didn't intend to hit the buy key and inadvertently did. I read the first couple of lines and didn't feel this was going to be worth reading but something kept me going (maybe because I am from Colorado...) and I kept reading until books 1-4 were read. I love this series!! The characters are given enough description to let my own mind fill in the blanks, there wasn't invasive sex scenes and not a many (if any) curse words. I really liked that about this series. The characters grew on me and I cheered for a few right off the bat. I will be purchasing the next books in the series.
These four books were available from Kindle Unlimited; and I needed something to read that would not make me think too much, but would draw me in and keep my interest. There were four books in this package, so it made for a longer read, and also had to deal with some things in my life. The stories are good, and the characters are believable; and I suppose the events are realistic enough (not that it matters to me too much), and I enjoyed reading them. There are better than some I have read, and not as good as other. But all in all, if you are a fan of C. J. Box (and his Joe Pickett series), you might find these enjoyable.
Jeff Carson has won me over. Having never read his books in the past the David Wolf police mysteries were a pleasant surprise to me. I'm now hooked on this character. As soon as I finished the four book set I purchased the next book. I could easily see this cast of characters becoming a TV series. The sheriff and his deputies, son, ex-wife, Colorado location and the various town's inhabitants make for good interaction and mystery. Mr. Carson writes with such skill that you get a clear picture of the scenery, people and location. Dave Wolf anyways gets his man!!
High praise for every one of the books in the series of David Wolf: Books 1-4! I can't wait to get started on the next series. It's challenging to get anything productive done when these books are just waiting to be read. There are no dull space-fillers, useless descriptions of surrounding terrain or atmosphere, or excessive use of adjectives - ploys used by many unimaginative authors to bulk up a story; every action has a reaction and the stories flow so well that it's a test to find a comfortable place to stop reading! Five plus stars! Keep them coming, Mr. Carson!
Well, at first I wasn't sure if I liked this guys writing, maybe because the books were free 😁🤔 but I eventually got into the story lines. One of the books was kinda hard to follow, so many characters, I used the "search in book" option alot. By the end of book 4 I was really hooked, found myself thinking about it during the day! The way the main character describes his ex-wife bugs me but I guess that's because the author is a man 😂 so now I've rolled right onto the next set, like binging on tv!

I really enjoyed these first four books. This man is just plain tough. David Wolf is a good man. He has an inherent sense of right and wrong and great instincts. He's not afraid to take any obstacle and he has ethics. All in all he's a great combination. I love the twists and turns of each book and they each have their own great villains. The books keep your interest and are a great read. Can't wait to read the rest!
I bought the four book set,if you're a fan of the sheriff Kerney series you'll enjoy these. Instead of the high desserts of New Mexico these take place in the mountains of Colorado. They're well written and hold your attention. For the price, you can't pass these up. If you enjoy law enforcement mystery/thrillers. I recommend these books, go ahead and give them a shot
My wife and I finished the first four David Wolf novels and they were very enjoyable. Small towns where nothing much happens except here in Sleuce,Colorado . I probably spelled the town incorrectly but who cares. The novels kept you interested and guessing as to who and why people were killed. We are looking forward to the next four in the series. Dr. C. 👍
Reading 4 book's at 1 time is. Usually hard not to get bored, but not with this
David Wolfe collection. It has all the action of a good detective read and all the characters and beauty of a small ski town with breathtaking views and snow and avalanches ,all described that I read these books when the temp.here in Fl. Was reading a 105. And I felt cold and deep into deep snow.the book's really well-written and I would tell all to start the series a.s.a.p. D'L.
. . . the second time around. After so many British/Scottish detective novels, I was looking for something that takes place in the U.S. I read just of this series and I remembered that I liked the main characters, but I couldn't recall the story lines clearly. Worth a second look. If you are stories that are fast paced, quick reads that you just about can't put down, the David Wolf series are for you.
Nearly every woman is perfect! The main character stares like a boy with mouth hanging open over each new woman.Nearly every female is tall slender and athletic so beautiful every man can’t take their eyes off her! She always smells of something good even when vigorously hiking in the mountains in the sun!
The main character and his best friends are unlikable in my opinion, shallow and some stupid. Nearly every man is over 6 ft and athletic and nice looking.
Who Knew That Colorado Was Full of Murderers & Crooks
The stories are engaging and the characters all come alive. The weather in the Colorado mountains plays a significant role. The only thing that requires a suspension of disbelief is the number of crimes taking place in the mountains. I enjoyed every one of the first four books. The first one jumps out of Colorado to Italy, but it was a fun trip.
This was a fantastic collection of stories, and a great beginning to the series. With terrific characters, humor, drama, angst, mystery, suspense, lots of action, and unexpected twists and turns, it's certainly not a series that you'll want to miss. I can't wait to see where it goes from here. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Read this set on Amazon Prime. My previous 2 reads from Prime (other authors) had left me unimpressed and annoyed, respectively. I say that to explain that my expectations were not particularly high for an author I had not heard of before.
However, all four books exceeded expectations. They were well-written, each with individual plots that were interesting and characters that continued to develop. I really enjoyed the books and look forward to reading more from this author.
This is a new author and series for me and I really enjoyed the pace of each story, not too long that one starts to lose interest or the story falls apart. With each book Sheriff David Wolf gets pulled into a new mystery with a series of twists and there is also a little bit of humor sprinkled in between all of the action and suspense.
New author does a great job of telling his stories
Not usually my favorite genre for reading, this set of books caught my interest in the first couple of pages. I am not a fan of cursing as I believe the story can be told just as well without including it, but this set of books was extremely well done, and the bonus of no typos or writing errors was a plus. I am going to find the next group and enjoy it over the next few days. Thanks for a lot of Goodreads, Mr.Carson!
Reading this series was the first time I've heard of the author Jeff Carson. His books are definitely attention getters. From the first page I was captured by the story. There were relationships with family, friends, and even enemies. Each crime was believable and full of "who done it" clues, but with a twist. I will continue to find more books written by Carson. I highly recommend if you love crime mysteries and exciting investigations.
Jeff Carson’s David Wolf series is a fantastic read. My wife recommended them to me and thought I’d really enjoy them because they are set in Western Colorado. I grew up in Colorado and found trying to place the events was very enjoyable, although Jeff told me in an email that it would “make my ears bleed” since the town names were fictional. The books will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting to read the next chapter immediately. I highly recommend this series.
I like the fact that guys/gals doing the right thing won in the end. Enjoyed while this is a crime drama, it offers a bit of romance. Shows how even doing the right thing can have an adverse effect on those around you. The only thing I need is Wolf to have a real partner. Either he and Sarah get back together or give him a genuine love interest. This Sheriff has been taken through the ringer.
I really enjoyed this starter series about a small town sheriff, David Wolf. His town is located just above Vail, Colorado. His world is his 12 year old son, Jack, his x-wife and all the crimes happening in and around his town.
I am definitely going to continue the series. I like the descriptions of the country side and how he deals with his community.
