We have read 2-3 books on Yoga previously. Books like them may (or may not) help you directly, but indirectly they make you aware of wrong habits, rituals, schedules that you follow every day. Your conscious/subconscious mind make changes with/without you noticing it. I have observed it, like the way I to sit on the chair during office hours, the timing of meals and much more. So when I saw "Yoga & Stress Management" by Acharya Yatendra, I thought of reading it, before age and stress make me visit doctors/consultants for the same.

You know the first thing I did once I started the book, I filled the stress test. I am glad my score is below 50 which means I am not stressed. But the book changed the way I nurture thoughts. My point is book starts with a stress test and then explain to you what is stress, what are different types of stress are there. Following that comes minerals, vitamins, and food intake section. The gem of the book is 14 advises, I loved them. That section follows the actual Yoga Asana & Pranayama.

Those who are thinking that the book is full of Asana & Pranayama are wrong. The book is written with full Yoga as subject to help our stress levels. And if you are aware that you must be knowing yoga is not just Asana & Pranayam. The book has done justice to both stress management & yoga.

Good points
- Easy language & narrative
- Good illustrations/pictures
- Informative and practical
- Dept of subject

Improvement - Could have given more examples in some places.

Overall a nice book. I will give 3.5/5 to it.

Yoga & Stress Management by Acharya Yatendra is a guide to inculcating the habit of practicing yoga in our daily lives. It emphatically talks about the importance of incorporating yogic techniques in our routine to cope with the stress that has been taking a huge toll on our wellness.

With the modern lifestyle attracting us with its set of fancies and we giving in to its charm, our lives are increasingly getting faster, fuller, and surprisingly, dull! Stress is taking us under its clutches, sucking vibrancy out of us, only to leave us despaired. No wonder why our present age is also referred to as ‘Age of Anxiety.’ It is high time that we realize the importance of setting ourselves free of stress. According to the author, “The powerful antidote to the stresses of modern-day life can only be a unique technique which unites body, mind, and spirit.” And that technique is Yoga which has its roots in India.

The book contains steps to remove stress from our lives choking on the modern lifestyle. It briefly talks about categories of stress and also emphasizes the value of positive stress. It presents us with steps for gracious living, explanations behind different yogic techniques for conditioning of the mind, and including the necessary diet for sustainable living. The writing style has been kept quite simple, practical, and to the point. There are a few examples quoted to stress the points but I found them inadequate.

In all, it is a light read. If one wishes to read about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, one may pick it up.

I have read a few books on stress, life and yoga as these books always give the motivation to improve my life. The cover page of this book has a calm aura and I picked this book, in the hope to learn some new things to avoid the stress in my life. This book doesn’t exactly provide what I wanted but it does provide many sutras which are helpful to me. So, let’s know more about this book further.

Summary:

You can find more such reviews on https://www.haloofbooks.com/

Runs to 185 pages this book talks about stress and yoga. the first half of the book talks about stress and how people are becoming its slaves in today’s busy life. He has extensively talked about stress and how it is harmful to us. In the first chapter, you will find an easy activity which will help you to know how much stressed you are.

The author has written how positive stress is necessary for our life and how we embrace negativity, which leads to stress. However, we can fight with stress effectively. With few quotes from Gita and our ancient texts, the author has tried to explain, how one can remove stress from their life.

The next section is dedicated to the introduction of yoga and how yoga makes our life healthy. The author has elaborately written about the benefits of yoga and how it can change one’s life. He has also introduced some easy asanas for the beginners.

In between all this, I appreciate that the author has not forgotten to emphasize the importance of good and nutritional food.

Overall, this book is quite good to introduce someone to yoga and leading a better life.

My perception:

This book has not met my expectation, but I loved every part of it as it reminded me to concentrate on mental and physical health. As stated above, this is a good book to someone, who is struggling and wanting to have a positive light in their life. The author of this book is an experienced Naturopath, Ayurveda, and a counselor, I wish to read a book from him on Ayurveda and how can we follow it in our daily life.

This book is a great way to redefine our life and live it with full of happiness and stress-free. Don’t miss, if you are struggling with stress and wanting to change your life positively.

Yoga & Stress Management by Acharya Yatendra is one of the best non-fictions I have read this year. It is a therapeutic guide for those dealing with mental and physical. Not only that, this book can be considered as a reference book for healthy living.

As is quite evident from the title of this book, it is a short and easy book on the philosophy of yoga and how to manage stress. Most of us these days suffer from stress and that makes our life very difficult. It feels really great to be able to manage the stress in one's life. And this book has really been helpful in the process of stress reduction in my life.

The very first chapter in this book is about 'stress and yoga philosophy'. At the end of this chapter, there is a section called 'rating stress'. It has a chart where the reader can assess how much stress he/she is going through. This, I personally felt, was very helpful. Each reader can assess the amount of stress one is under. That is a great way of self-assessment and reflection. There are nine chapters in the book in all. Each chapter is equally well-written and really interesting. The author has done extensive research which has made the book all the more interesting.
The illustrations and numbered pieces of information have made it very easy to understand.

Altogether, Acharya Yatendra's Yoga & Stress Management is a great read and I really liked reading it. Definitely recommending this wonderful book!

My rating: 4.5 out of 5.

It may seem that there’s nothing you can do about your stress level. The bills aren’t going to stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day for all your errands, and your career or family responsibilities will always be demanding. But you have a lot more control than you might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your life is the foundation of stress management.

Managing stress is all about taking charge: taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun – plus the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

Yoga and stress management by Acharya Yatendra is a yoga and stress management guide.

This modern and fancy lifestyle is very lethal for a healthy lifestyle, everyone wants to get a chance run faster in daily life. Don't know why but everyone is in a wierd precocity. This book is a collection of perfect remedies to get over of the problem of stress and mental retardation. Formatting of this book is so unique which has some tables as well to establish checks and balances. Writing style is very engaging, informative and simple at the same time.

The LazyScoop Review:

It is said that body is like a temple. It should be worshipped as we worship the gods. And how true that is. Taking care of our body and mind is of utmost importance for our overall development and growth- both physically as well as mentally. And this is what is taken into consideration in the latest book 'Yoga and Stress Management' by Acharya Yatendra.I was astound at the level of knowledge shared in this book addressing almost every doubt we have about stress and how to deal with it.What I liked about the book the most is how it gives details about which diet is ideal to follow. How eating variety of food and fruits affects our body. How they contribute in maintaining the ideal weight.

Normal people who aren't much health conscious don't necessarily filter their consumption based on calories, protein, carbs, fats, etc. This book let's you dive deep into this topic. The sources for various nutrients are also being shared and also their importance and disadvantages in case of deficiency is explored well.

I liked how the printed pictures before starting of any important topic gives the context, and also develops interest.Quotes by famous people and also from scriptures, about the relevant topic is also added for more impact and authenticity.

As the water of different rivers enters ocean, which is full at all sides remains undisturbed; likewise he in whom all enjoyments merge themselves peace, not he who hankers after such enjoyment. - III Gita

The writing is simple and feels scientific. There are some paragraphs in the beginning about stress which are written in point format, which I could've been a bit informal to strike more connect with the reader. However, once you go with the flow, you start enjoying that. The writer has laid emphasis on mental health as well, and takes you to many holy scriptures and quotes to make you understand his point. I loved that. For me personally, time management was the most helpful topic. It helped me understand the ways in which time can be managed and benefits of it.

The LazyScoop Verdict:

Yoga and Stress Management is an absolute must read book in today's times of hectic work life. No matter who you are and from which walk of life- An employee, an employer, student, teacher, parents or anyone, this book can prove beneficial to you personally as well as professionally.

I was really impressed with this little book.

My friend has been encouraging me to try yoga for some time and I have never taken that plunge. Through reading this book I found that there is so much more to the practice of Yoga than I ever imagined!

This little book shows how in just a few minutes (or less) every day you can improve your mood, stop feeling stress, relive pain, sleep better at night, and, overall, just lead a happier, healthier life.

Yoga and Stress Management by Acharya Yatendra is well written with easy to follow steps, explaining the purpose and root of each practice. Throughout the book I felt that I was being educated on the amazing and ancient art of Yoga. It was written in an easy to understand matter without "dumping it down." I felt enlightened and never belittled for my lack of previous knowledge on the subject.

There was plenty of interesting information, anecdotes, and god forbid, some actual research about the usefulness of paying attention to your own body and mind. The author did a great job of presenting his view in such a way as to not shut down a sceptical reader.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to regain control of a hectic life, or who have been interested in developing a mediation practice but didn't know where to start. It would also be an interesting read for those who do practice meditation on a daily basis.

Yoga and stress management by acharya yatendra is a book that's written with yoga as its base subject and stress management as its topic.

The book helps one extensively in the very first chapter by helping them taking a domestic stress test and evaluating it themselves.

The book then proceeds ahead with information on managing stress through diet, lifestyle changes and various yoga aasanas explaining each in detail with a few examples.

This book is a bit different from other yoga books, and hence I would recommend this.

There are various diagrams and figures that help you understand each topic better.

Overall, a good book that'll help you stay healthy and fit if its ideas are implemented.

This book just scratched the surface of Yoga with a focus on stress management, and I believe that is the intent of this book to keep it simple for readers who would like to get started. A chapter dedicated to "25 worthy tips for gracious living" recollected the good advice to follow. And there was an assessment consisting of 20 questions to measure and score the stress level (none, moderate and severe) to find where one stands. The book ends with a short explanation about what and which part of the body is controlled by the left and right brain, and how both exchange information.
