I am a wife and mother of two girls, Cassie and Allie. I live in Minnesota and, yes, our winters are legendary! I believe this has a lot to do with my passion for reading and writing, which is something I'd like to make a full time career of sometime in the future. Right now my days are filled with chasing after children in my daycare but at night I chase after my dreams of becoming a popular writer. Most of my books are written with young adults in mind but I am ecstatic when I hear that readers of all ages enjoy them. It's a great motivator and pushes me to keep writing, even when I'm exhausted from wiping noses all day long!

Also writes YA books as Kristen Middleton.

Ugh, I hate giving less than three stars. But this was painful. I didn’t DNF, but I doubt I’ll bother with the next book.

I like high school bully books. Wait, let me correct myself. I like good high school bully books. I’ll even go one lower and say okay ones. Sadly, this book didn’t make the cut.

It’s extremely tropey with a million cliches. Now, I don’t necessarily mind that…. if it’s done well. This book needs some serious editing help, and maybe a major overhaul on the plot/characters.

The two main characters were basic, generic, and I had zero connection to either. The side characters were cliche and boring. I didn’t really feel like anyone had much depth, even though there were tiny hints of it now and then.

The writing was extremely juvenile, and if someone actually edited this, they should look for a new job. If the author edited it, they need to hire someone.

One of the friends starts out as Kara. Then becomes Kala for a chapter, with one Tara thrown in for kicks.

Grandma Rae is either Grandma Rae, Grandma, or Grams. Usually people stick to one name when addressing their grandparents.

We sometimes get a chapter from the mean girl POV. They are extra drama… fillers? I might care more if the mean girl, Mattie, had any substance. And then there is this oopsie from one of her chapters:

“You’d better be man. You’re the one who kept us up late anyway,” I said. “I’m just glad we don’t have football practice tonight.”

I guess Mattie is a football player? (spoiler alert - she’s not. That was supposed to be Chase talking).

Then there are the cringy, dumb mistakes that seriously have no excuse being there, such as:

“So is Bruce and Mitch, who I think might be in the back”

“Of course, you were pretty hammered may not remember much.”

“I’ll borrow you the money and you can pay me back with monthly installments.”
You mean lend , right?

“If you want to drink, be my guess.”

The dialogue was mundane and/or awkwardly dramatic. Even for teenagers. The best line, though, was this:

“His hands moved to my buttocks and I moaned as he rubbed his pelvis against mine.”

All those other dirty words mentioned and a horny 18 year old girl uses buttocks. It made me giggle, though I’m sure it wasn’t meant to be intentional.

This book had potential... but there was just too much drama. I didn't get the attraction between the main characters, like the lust/passion/romance just showed up towards the end. 90%Drama 10% Romance. Will not be reading the next book.

So this book was recommended on Facebook so I gave it a go. Let me start by saying this was my first time reading a book by these authors and I think they have a lot of potential...

First things first tho...When I read the blurb on goodreads and then read the book, the MMC wasn’t anything as described in this book. He wasn’t this arrogant, rich, hell-raiser, a**hole prick.. I actually thought he was more on the wimpy side, definitely not your usual alpha male that are in these type of books. Also where was the street racing? Would like to see more of that.
I really think this could have been better if Chase was what was described as in the blurb and that Mackenzie was also bullied by Chase and his crew rather it all being more of Mattie and her little click. I really didn’t have an issue with Mackenzie being harassed by Mattie because it was entertaining, but was more of Chase didn’t do any bullying nor did he seem to have a mean bone whatsoever...which was a disappointment. Wheres the bad boy hell-raiser that likes to play games? Supposedly they’re all wealthy? I did not get that impression at all with Chase or the other MC’s. Which usually is the reason why they’re arrogant a**holes. Lol So I am hoping in the 2nd book we get a different Chase. There really wasn’t much hottest in this book, so I’m hoping that changes too. ;) wink
I felt more chemistry between Sonny and Kara then I did with the two MC’s, so I would like to see more chemistry between Chase and Mackenzie in the next book.

On a good note tho, I LOVE that the FMC was strong, so that was a bonus, because Mackenzie was definitely that! It kept my attention and has a good storyline. Also I’d like to point out how well the Authors captured there age group. You definitely could tell they were 17/18 years old. Most books out there with this genre sound more in there early 20’s then teenagers.

So will I continue on to the next book? The answer is yes, I will continue the series just because I want to see where the Authors takes us with this story and I want to see what happens with Mackenzie and Chase. I hope the Authors gives us some answers on who attacked Mackenzie? Will Chase find out who damaged his car? Will Mattie get what’s coming to her?

Mackenzie is definitely a rollercoaster type personality. I liked her with Chase but felt like her character is a bit underdeveloped. The novel starts off with the tragic event she faces, but that's about it. There is not much to her character, there's no clear background. Chase at least has some depth but still not fully developed. He definitely has a temper but doesn't seem to hang with a good crowd. His ex is a complete psychopath, and a lot of his friends are complete jerks. It wasn't the worst book; however, has a lot of work needed. Let's not talk about the ending hahah.

Ahm, I was excited to read the book however I was a bit disappointed. I didn't feel the chemistry between the two main characters. The story also had a childish vibe ... Just not my thing!

Too many errors. One character had 3 names Kara, Kala, and Tala. Other than that the story was ok.
