A dark plot against the king threatens Lily, her family, and everything she holds dear. Yet Lilian Earton is not the one to wait for divine intervention. Once again, she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work on saving her husband from being accused of an assassination attempt and rescuing her friends in Virma from a death sentence, all the while carving out a place for herself in the harsh reality of medieval society. Call it inspiration, the voice of a Muse, or plain obsession… Lina J. Potter has been dreaming up stories for as long as she can remember. She has a light-hearted approach to writing. Whenever she is not writing, you can find her practicing karate and lace-making. Nowadays, she lives in the quite town of Tambov with her husband, daughter and two cats.
I was really looking forward to this book. The fact that Ms. Potter was continuing the series was great news, but I found myself somewhat disaffected. The first 5 books were pretty coherent, except for some glaring translation problems. In spite of those I loved the story, the characters and most everything about the books. Book 6 starts by changing the ending of book 5. I found this quite jarring. Lily, Jess and the rest of the characters are back which is the good news. It also takes us to the home island of the Virman's and gives a more detailed account of their way of life, their God's and families. The book sets up the upcoming stories, but ends abruptly, right when things are getting interesting. I'll read the next book and hope things work out and the story smoothes out.
Let me start off by saying i looooove this series. It started off rocky with the grammar but i passed it off because of the translation to english. The plot kept me interested all the way until the last book. Now the author gave it the perfect closing with glimpses into the future so i was quite suprised when amazon sent me a notice there was a new book to the series.
Spoiler alert!! This new book backtracks to right after the conspiracy is discovered. Lillian is in fact not pregnant, Leif has to go back to Virma to answer for the feud between himself and Ingrids family, and lily and jerrison have to travel to Welster to pick up Richards new fiance. Lily and jerrison don't know they are walking into a trap. There is a conspiracy happening in Welster where they will be blamed as the traitors. The story again was very intriguing but i was very dissapointed with half of this book. Lily wants to travel with Leif to Virma to help him with his troubles but instead has to go to Welster. In her place the princess and richard travel to Virma. This is where i was displeased:Richard and princess Angeline both fall in love at first sight with Virmans. Which i think is completely unrealistic. Richard is already engaged and is following his fathers footsteps into throwing the country is disaray because he saw a girl so beautiful he had to be with her. Completely stupid, especially since hes all about his duty to his country but one glimpse at the girl and he forgets both country and duty. His sister falls in love with with one of the clan leaders which i find more reasonable since she was supposed to be on the lookout for a husband. But again i was disappointed in her love interest. Even though he is smart and seems kind to her he is already married with children and has his affairs with servants. So she is in love with a player. I gotta give her points though because even though he is handicapped she still loves him.(Not that i have a problem with him being handicapped but in the previous books she is written as a little arrogant, spoiled and a little oblivious. In this book shes trying to change for the better after meeting lily and miranda.)
So i did not enjoy the plot with richard and the princess. The best parts were the traveling to Welster. Lily again comes up with new inventions while on the road. Since it seems to be that lily literally knows how to make everything from scratch i was hoping she would bring more to the entertainment industry then just stories.(i figured the author should have gave her photographic memory to explain how she knows so much random things) It is previously described as she didnt bring back anything from her previous life besides her knowledge and memories and she is stuck with some of the real lilys memories and habbits. For example she was now scared of heights and she felt at peace in church. So if Aliya has a horrible voice it doesnt really matter because she is now Lily and has lilys voice. So i found it weird when she refused to sing because she knew she was horrible as aliya. She is now in lilys body it wouldnt matter she was a bad singer in aliyas body. I was hoping she could invent like the violin or a guitar or something in this new world of hers for the entertainment industry but maybe she will in the next books. I liked the culinary creations though since it was mentioned she wanted to open a restaurant. So in short i loved lily and jerrisons part of the book and hated richard and the princess plot. It wont stop me from continuing the series as the next book comes out in october. 😁

I have been a fan of this series since I read the first book!
I love Lina’s writing style. She took a strong, savvy and smart female character from current times threw in some time travel to a medieval land that exists in a different world and created an addictive series! I am not huge into romance but Lina manages to write the romance without it being ”too” much. She throws in humor and realism and one relates to the characters in a very common way. I highly suggest these novels if you're craving a GOT fix!
I found this a real challenge to get through. I completely enjoyed the other books, but this felt very different in style and flow. Lots of internal monologue and sidebars. I found it ruined the flow of character development and sometimes I had to flip back a couple of pages to remind myself who was actually “speaking”. I may read the next book, but I kind of wish the series had ended at the last book.
While the story followed the previous books the poor editing was a distraction
It was obviously edited by a different, less precise, person who didn't seem to have read the previous books. The style ended up being different enough to be a distraction and the numerous errors were frustrating. I found myself re reading too many sections just to understand the meaning of a sentence.
Countess Lillian Earton and her husband Jess are back with many of their supporting characters plus additional ones. Two plots run parallel to each other. Lillian wants to go to Virma, Lief's homeland, to defend him against accusations of murder. The King has other ideas and sends her to accompany her husband on an ambassadorial assignment to another Kingdom. However, he sends his son and Princess Angelina to Virma to stand up for Lief and seal ties between the two countries. I like the action, humor, and romance. Lust and love arise have bad timing for royals, nobles, and common people alike. I look forward to the next book.
Mrs Potter has a great gift off creating wonderful & complex characters and revealing them to us in such an exciting way. Good guys and bad - they are all here and come alive in her telling of their story. Such passion, love and honor - such evil and unholy actors of the unkind. They are all here. The good, the bad, the ugly,,,, the beautiful , the loving, the loyal, the coward and the brave. I've never read anything nearly so enthralling except one - Outlander by Gabalden. Bravo Ms Potter. You are my hero...... Michael
I have been a fan from the first book. I love her writing style, and all the characters too. There is something exciting always happening and you never w what Lily will come up with next or how she will help Jerrison and Miranda.
There were some areas that I found a little bit off. However, once you get into reading, you start to understand why and how each character has to go through what they are going through, in order to grow.
JESS and Lillian are chosen by King Edward to go to Welster and bring back princess Marie to be Richards wife. While on the way, a creep tries to molest Lillian and gets a most interesting end. That account was worth paying for the book. In the meantime, Richard and his sister go to Virma to work on a treaty between the two nations. The book ends with a mysterious murder.
I’m a fan. The medieval like world the author has created is the perfect setting for Lily’s creativity and inventiveness. The story is filled with interesting characters and settings. I didn’t care for the author notes. I felt they could have been worked into the story. But, I enjoyed the read.
I enjoyed this book but I thought it moved a bit slower than the ones before. There seemed to be a lot of new characters introduced and having to wait until October for book VII will be a long wait. Think I will keep this one and re-read it before October...might make the newer characters more clear.
This was the sixth book in the series. It is Jerisson and Lilian’s Chance to connect as husband and wife. It is also the story of the virmans. It is interesting to watch all the characters and what happens to them this was a continuing story that has kept mt total interest.
This series would have been better if it stopped at book 5. I don't like the male lead, Jerrison or Jess. He comes across as entitled, borderline abusive, vain and pompous. I can't help the feeling that Aliya is better off with out him though she seems to fall for his looks, title and the security it offers her.
Obviously only part of the story, ends with murder in Viking type island and an a planned coup in a nearby nation. If you can stand to wait for next one, so both together.
I love this series. I look forward to the next book, my only comp!ain't is that it is a cliffhanger. I really enjoy the Russian perspective when Lily is thinking. Write fast please?
Great! Loved every page of this book. Great writer!
Best book collection I have read in a long time. Can't wait until the next book to come out. Loved the characters and the plot of the books. Love the story!
I liked the first five in the series a bit better. It was very good, but I think I had too long of a gap between the first 5 installments and these next 2, and so it was hard to remember and juggle all the characters. So read them all in a row!
I like this series although the first two books were more interesting to me. I am interested to see how all the parts in this book turn out in the final book which is supposed to be out in October.
While I have enjoyed this series of books...I had some challenge following this book. Then to be left hanging at the end. Looking forward to the next book.
