Since her father died, Deborah Jannvier has been living under the provision of her callous uncle. So when a handsome stranger named Matthew Pascoe appears bearing a summons from a long-lost wealthy relative, Deborah agrees to return to Marymoor House with Matthew. On arrival, Deborah is told she shall inherit the estate on one condition: that she immediately marry Matthew. With no hope of a future otherwise, Deborah consents and soon after becomes owner of the estate when her benefactor dies. Despite the unconventional circumstances of their marriage, Deborah and Matthew are surprised at the degree of affection that develops between them. But trouble soon befalls the couple in the form of Anthony Elkin, who claims that the Marymoor estate rightly belongs to him. The marriage of Deborah and Matthew secures their ownership, but they don't anticipate just how far Elkin will go to see the pair parted. Chicken soup for the soul! A heart-warming yet exciting story that's well crafted and easy reading. I'm hooked! And already onto my next by this talented author. :)
Deborah Jannvier is rescued from a miserable existence when she inherits Marymoor from her dying Great Uncle Ralph. But in order to inherit she must marry the rather delightful Matthew Pascoe and stop the estate from falling into unsavoury hands. The premise of this story was interesting, if unrealistic (but its a romance novels so that comes with the territory). Where the plot falls short is the actual follow through. I didn't really feel for any of these characters, they were so concerned with making sure the 'bad guy' didn't get the house, they never actually communicated.
Another great read from Anna again this book has mystery drama suspense and romance .when Deborah inherits Marymoor on condition she married Mathew she didn't realize what her cousin was capable of abduction murder this book has it all 5 STARS .
An exciting tale of love , betrayal and greed . Deborah Jannvier and her mother have been forced to live with her unfeeling uncle since her father died . When a handsome stranger , Matthew Pascoe appears with an urgent summons from an unknown relative , Deborah agrees to go with him . On arrival she meets a dying man who tells her that she is to inherit his estate as long as she is willing to marry Matthew . His will is changed to that effect . Deborah knows that if she agrees she can save her mother and her elderly maid from the clutches of her uncle , but this is an huge step to take . Is it one she can take ?
One of the best books I have read for a while. It was recommended by my wife. Very well written with engaging characters. The plotline was excellent. I have always enjoyed historical books and this was better than most. Would recommend this author to anyone who enjoys a thrilling and satisfactory finish.
Nothing drags in this story. Yes, it's been told before in many versions, but it's still exciting to read again. What's not to love - a handsome man, a pretty girl, danger, an evil villain, love, and a cast of supporting characters. Enjoy!
I throughly enjoyed this book it has lots of twist’s and turns the story line was a bit different to what I usually read but I wish there was an epilogue a few years down the line.
A book hard to put down , captivating right from the start to the end. I loved the Perseverance of Deborah and her caring nature, the villains got their just desert in the end.
