Being kidnapped by the Cameron Brothers was nothing short of chaos.
Hard, completely ruthless, and savage as hell, they’re one of the scariest, most dangerous group of criminals in New York.
I know this because I’ve seen them all over the news. Everyone is afraid of them, questioning their next move, wondering who their next target will be.
They never leave a witness, and no one has ever seen their faces…
Until me…
I’m not sure why they chose my house out of a million other ones but one look tells me they never expected me to be there and now that I’ve seen their faces, witnessed their crimes there won’t be any escaping them…
Taken. Owned. Possessed. They offer me pleasure in place of pain if I vow to be there’s, but escaping from their clutches has always been the plan.
Now that I’ve seen the men beneath the masks will I able to escape them? Or have I already fallen for my captors?
**This is a dark reverse harem novella, with some bad boy criminals. There is NO cheating, NO cliffhanger, and it has a nice sticky sweet HEA. Get ready, and hang onto your seat babes. This one hot as hell. No M/M action, these brothers are all about the leading lady."

The following ratings are out of 5: Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Romance: 💚🖤💙💜❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏 Character development: 😤😥😊🤩😘
The heroine:Jessa - a pampered daughter feeling lonely and secluded. She feels that her father wants to keep her a secret from the outside world. She is tired of her father’s over protectiveness when men break in to her home. She sees men that she knows are not part of her father’s security team, men that she knows are the ones she just saw on the news of break ins of wealthy homes, nobody ever seeing their faces, except her.
The Hero:Trey, Wes & Declan - they are the Cameron brothers and they are out for revenge against a man killed their parents and sister. That man is the father of Jessa. They are all tall, well muscled and ruthless and are determined to get vengeance.
The Story: The guys break in to Jessa’s father’s home and don’t expect to find her home, and when they do, they scare her by talking about the filthy things they want to do to her, they touch her and they abduct her. I couldn’t believe that she ended up feeling pleasure when she was scared like that. It was a bit too soon even for a romance novel.
The book was told in multiple points of view using dual narration, where the female narrator does all the voices within the chapters told from Jessa’s point of view and the male narrators do all the voices in their chapters as well. Narration was done by Melissa Schwairy, James McAdams, Aaron Shedlock and Rich Miller. I liked the fact that each of the main characters was narrated by a different person. Though I really didn’t like Melissa Schwairy’s voice, it was nasal and grated on my nerves a bit.
This one should definitely been done like a full cast audiobook where each person read their own parts no matter whose point of view the chapter was in. Doing it this way made it hard to tell which one of the guys were talking at any given moment.
I like captive romance and reverse harem and especially standalone romances, so I am predisposed to like this one from the start. It could only go down from there. It did get pretty steamy fairly early and Jessa didn’t fight back enough. Declan definitely wants to kill her, so I can’t see her not fighting when they touch her. Though I must say that this one took turns I really didn’t expect so it kept my interest throughout and I liked the action.
Perhaps I happen to be in a generous mood (& maybe later I will come to my senses and retract this high ass rating...)
But seriously, this was almost a 5-star, and let me tell you why.
Was the writing good? No, it was atrocious.
Was the plot good? Absolutely not. It was inept, at best.
Was the heroine good? Well, no, she could have been replaced with a withering tomato or a rock, and this book experience would have remained the same.
Was the smut good?
Well, yes. Spectacular indeed.
There's not a lot of time lately where smut has trumped everything, but this is one of those times.
Look, I don't make the rules.
The smut was masterpiece-level, and I shall stand by this rating... until I change my mind.
(By the way, I listened to this on audio, so I was lucky not to have experienced the punctuation errors my other fellow reviewers pointed out in their reviews, lol. See? This is why every reader should be like me! I avoid the bad stuff!)
Hot, dirty and uncompromising. It's 4 stars on that ground (or bed) alone. However, the writing is far from stellar, with lots of generic phrases and fillers.
OMG... That was a hit under the belt... Imagine reading a book that is pure smut and you only focus in the lack of spelling, punctuation and the non-existent flow in the story. I was so focued in the wrong use of "there", "they're" and "their" that I missed all the fan... At some point when I was reading this book, I wasn't even sure how many the main characters were... I wish we knew more about the characters involved, the action scenes reminded me a little "Mission Impossible". I'm still wondering if the main characters are spies or involved with the underworld... If you want to read it for the erotic aspect of the story, go ahead. Else, it's a waste of time.
So, this is pretty much just sex. Nonstop sex. You know I love sex in fics, but I don't know about this one. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood?? 🤷
Declan, Trey, and Drew (brothers) are trying to get revenge against the man that murdered their parents. They break into his house to steal a thumb drive that has some info on it and discover that the man's daughter is actually home. Jessa (virgin) decides to stay home instead of going to a party with her dad. When she surprises three men breaking into her home, they decide to take her with them instead of killing her then. There is noncon-ish and dubcon in this. The guys are crude and cruel. Except they also are highly sexually attracted to her and she's insanely attracted to them. Yada yada, they make videos of sexual "stuff" they're doing to her and send them to her dad. Instead of trying to save his daughter, the dad requests hitmen to kill everyone, even Jessa.
Trey is the sweet-ish brother that wants her forever. Drew is the middle brother that both wants her and is also concerned about getting revenge. Declan is the oldest brother, both cold and cruel, and he wants to kill her immediately. Eventually they all have sex. Lots and lots and LOTS of sex. All the holes, all at once. IYKYK.
There's some danger, some action, revenge, and secret parentage. They get a HEA.
I'm giving this a 4 because I love sex. It's not really that dark (to those who normally read dark fics).
Holy Shite this story had me in from the start till end. Trey, Wes & Declan kidnap Jessa. This one rollercoaster of a story, HOT HOT HOT, A must read, I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. Love J.L. Beck & Cassandra Hallman
The scenes between the 3 brothers and the heroine remind me of a two book story by Addison Cain called Wrens Song. Even the scene one of the brothers says if they we're going to keep using her like they had then they'd have to start taking better care of her, like ensuring the feed her. Believe it was published a year before this.
The writing is very amateur, with too many basic mistakes. The author doesn't spell things correctly, grammar is non-existent, has poor punctuation and doesn't even know the difference between 'There' & 'Their' or 'Too' & 'To' and many other basic homophones.
The story is too obvious. The reader can tell from the very first page exactly what is going to happen in this book because the female goes on and on about how lonely her life has always been, because of how strict her fsther is with her, she's so lonely, so it's very easy to tell that even before these brothers kidnap her, that she's going to fall for them and her father is really bad guy.
Then there are numerous other problems. Her father turning extremely protective of her her whole life, to so easily ordering her death is inane. It's contradictory. One second one of the brothers is claiming he hates her fear and hearing her scream because he can't stomach her afraid of him. But then he wants her afraid because he can handle her fear better and hearing her scream.
I know this is fantasy but it's extremely unlikely after being shot and loosing so much blood he would be horny, let alone capable of having sex. As for the s*x scenes themselves, the brothers have sex scenes with her separately and they all say exactly the same phrases. Their dirty talk is identical, which is boring and repetitive. I gave up without finishing because this didn't make me want to read anymore of it. The writing is just so very basic, and amateur. Not good.
So.... Yea this was supposed to be dark but I guess I'm just weird cause this was not my idea of dark at all. Almost immediately she was lusting after these guys and it was a sex scene after another. Small plot with no plot details at all. We never get into who any of these people really are . The boys had enemies?? Who and most importantly ...why. I'm assuming her dad was some kind of money bags or maybe mob ? Mafia ? We never know cause the plot here was sex or supposedly dark sex. I skipped most of this cause unless you are going to flesh out the plot I can't just read sex.. And my God man if you going to play off as dark ....go DARK!😒
Their Captive is the perfect read for readers who love why choose and dark stories! While I would say this one isn't that dark, it does contain certain scenes that will definitely make some people uncomfortable, so read the triggers beforehand. It seems like everything C. Hallman writes is a master piece and she seems to be getting better with each story. I really enjoyed reading this and will definitely be getting a paperback copy when I can!
I give this book 4 stars. The storyline between Jessa and these three brothers is a darkly written romance. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
So I starting reading this and immediately was confused because I’ve read this before. So apparently this is vow of revenge series by Darcy rose. So I guess Darcy rose is her pen name. So marking this off so that I don’t make this mistake again.
Of note, I’m a bit more disappointed knowing this author wrote this book, bc it just wasn’t that great. She is an amazing author and I love her writing typically. I honestly would’ve given this 2 stars but since I already rated it, I’m keeping it 3. But this makes it actually worse. The storyline had so many plot holes, didn’t make any type of sense and was a nonsensical mess is the best way I can put it.
If the original had atleast been good I would’ve kept reading it again but it wasn’t. :-(
This one was a mixed bag for me. I liked the dark, revenge-driven trope and the tension between the brothers and Jessa kept me reading. The spice in this case was too much and even a glimpse of plot had me excited to read something else.
Still, it had some twists and PLENTY of heat, so if you’re into dark romance with a captive twist, it’s worth a try.
Forget rollercoaster rides: this one is a JET FUELED ROCKET ride that takes control of you & there is NO ESCAPE! I've read & loved the 'Rossi Crime Family' series by this awesome team of writers but this one blew me out of the water. It has a sweetly deceptive early beginning & before the 1st chapter is done things get INTENSE & the intensity only continues to rise throughout the rest of the book. This is a reverse harem capture plot & although a familiar trope, this one is superbly elevated (IMO) head & shoulders above most others due to the deft & stellar writing talents of Ms Beck & Ms Hallman. They latched onto my attentions, emotions & interest immediately with the tense, suspenseful & emotional actions & interactions of, & between, the 4 main characters. The Cameron brothers (all anti-H), Declan, Wes & Trey, consumed by a bone deep need for revenge against the evil man who forever took everything of importance away from them. The brothers are firmly & completely united in their search for vengeance, in their love & commitment for each other & they work flawlessly together as a team. They are all ex-military, handsome, muscled & focused. And stone cold lethal killers. And Jessa/Princess (h) just happens to be the young daughter of the man the Cameron brothers want to kill. And she happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time . . . . I was compelled to finish reading this one in one sitting: between the sizzling steamy HOT HOT s*x, the suspense of what was ultimately in store for the innocent & unsuspecting Jessa, the mounting tension between the brothers as well the action sequences that were spaced perfectly throughout the story to inject octane into the plot there didn't EVER seem to be a good time to take a break. I give the authors HUGE KUDOS for being able to so smoothly entrap & enthrall me in this story, for making me CARE so deeply about all 4 characters, I found myself worried, concerned, angry, excited & oftentimes, smiling. I was completely intrigued by, & invested in, all 4 main characters. It is a wonderful testament that an author's written words are able to swirl a reader into their world, their story & allow the reader to experience such a wide array of emotions. Simply magical IMO! So grab a fan, an ice cold drink, a quiet spot to settle down & enjoy this excellent story. I will be rereading this one many, many times!!
It was almost too dark for me but I had a hard time putting it down. The characters kept dragging me back in needing to know what would happen. I loved the ending. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book, phew. 🔥 if you want to read into some dark and twisted fantasies, well then this is the read for you.
Three bothers kidnap and hold hostage a prestigious mans daughter. A man who they have been wronged by. These three bothers really get their fill, if you catch my drift. The erotic scenes depicted in this book were at some points hard to read, but still hot, hot, hot. Deep rooted somewhere these authors must have a wild fantasy. Three bothers at the same time? Well damn.
The only bad thing I have to say about this read is there is no winner. She doesn’t wind up with just one of the brothers after drinking all their koolaid. SHE WINDS UP A THRUPLE, MARRIED TO THEM. That part kind of made me cringe. I was 100000% rooting for Declan. I love a deep rooted bad boy. (I 100% thought she was going to get pregnant from the amount of seed dispensed in her.... I’m sure every other woman reading this must have thought the same)
This was a sexually filled fantasy read. I knocked it out quickly, as I didn’t want to put it down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Extremely dark and dirty. Many times tiptoeing a fine line between obnoxious and exciting. At times the sex becomes too much, leaving the suspenseful plot in the shadows. But you can count on Hallmann&Beck to get you hot and bothered.
3.5 Stars Listened to the audiobook. Heavy on the smut with some sprinkle of suspense. I wish there was a little more suspense to balance the story out, but it was still an entertaining and steamy read.
Their Captive is a mind-blowing phenomenon! I never expected to have my entire world completely demolished by this incredible story and its fantastic characters!!! There was nothing easy about this story, and every effort that went into loving each step was wonderfully rewarded. My heart was dashed to smithereens at the fierce and unrelenting journey that had to be walked by the precious characters within these beautiful pages. What a fantastic and intense experience that I have savored and enjoyed!
Jessa thought she had her life completely in control. She has just won a small battle with her dad that handed her a small amount of freedom. What she didn’t know is that it would bring her world crashing down. The Cameron brothers are on a mission. This one is special as it will exact some long-needed revenge and reclaim some peace for each of them. What they never anticipated could become the ultimate wrinkle in their carefully laid plans. Who knew a simple girl could waylay the plans of three grown men. Surely life couldn’t be that random, but then again nothing had ever made them waver from their course before. When the deadly storm passes will they each find themselves in a better place, or will they discover a life that they never could have imagined in their wildest of dreams?
My heart felt full to bursting as I wandered around in this new world. I could feel the intense connection that the brothers have cultivated over the years, and their single-minded determination and preparation for their plans was amazing. I never saw them coming, and they burnt my world down. Jessa might have been in a precarious situation, but she had more power then she ever could have imagined. The push and pull had my mind spinning with possibilities and wonder. All I could do was open my heart to whatever came down the road and hoped that it would be what they all needed. What a tremendous cast of characters! I don’t want to let them go. They are beyond surprising, and I love them each so much!
Beck and Hullman have outdone themselves with this brilliant dark romance! This story was nothing as I expected, and I am so thankful for that. It was so much better!! The amazing plot made each of the characters shine so bright that I truly hated to see it end. I read it slower then I normally would have in order to savor it for as long as I could. Ahh, what a book! What an fabulous experience! What a masterful creation! Do not miss this precious and bright shining jewel!
Eh… Not the worst book I’ve ever read, but… It took me a while to get through it and almost DNF. I listened to the audiobook so I can’t speak to the misspelling and other mistake I’ve seen people complain about, but the dialogue was a bit repetitive and amateurish. Especially during the smut. Some of it was downright cringey. I almost stopped at the words ‘sweet cream’. 😑
The consent is dubious which doesn’t really bother me in a book. It’s pretty minimal although it’s discussed more than it’s acted on. I think the virgin turned sex goddess having a foursome immediately is where I side eye it a bit.
There wasn’t much nuance between the three guys. One wants her dead, one is somewhat neutral, and the other is instantly in love, but outside of that there’s not much personality to each one. Only one of them is really likable, one is almost a background character, and the other is just a jerk. And our main girl, well… About what you’d expect. A vapid damsel in distress trying to be a badass. I think the nonchalance of her attitude is what bugs me the most. This woman is kidnapped more than once in this book, dubiously railed a couple times, and now she should kill her father for these guys and it’s all just… fine? I don’t mind suspending reality a bit when reading and have a pretty high threshold for the morally questionable behaviors of book characters, but good lord.. I love a good enemy to lovers story. This one comes off more like a bad case of Stockholm syndrome.
Also some problematic racial stereotypes towards the end, some seriously misogynistic discussions about birth control and periods. “Your pussy is bleeding but is your mouth?’’ “We’ll put her on birth control because I’m too selfish to wear a condom.” Jesus Christ.
Overall, not something I would read again or really recommend. It’s not the worst book I’ve ever come across, but I don’t know that I’d read something by this author again.
Their Captive: A Dark Reverse Harem by JL Beck and C Hallman is a dark, thrilling romance. Another great collaboration, these two just get better with each story they weave as they suck their readers into this roller coaster ride of emotions, passion and revenge. The Cameron brothers; Wes, Trey and Declan are sexy, ruthless, dangerous men who are on a mission to destory and gather information from the one man that has taken their family away. What they didn't count on when they broke into his mansion is that they would leave with a young scared beautiful women as a hostage. Jessa has been confined in her father's home growing up a virtual prisoner with no life experience or friends. Wes and Trey see something in her, but Declan wants her dead. Now she finds herself in the hands of these dangerous men as she develops feelings for them as barriers are broken and desires are revealed.
The journey these four characters take is amazingly raw and passionate as the brothers give into their desires for Jessa while still having to fulfill their quest to end her father. When things come to light as danger surrounds them, secrets and betrayals are revealed to Jessa, she is now faced with the truth and a decision that will change her life forever. Now they are taken on a path of awareness and love as these four enter a relationship that will never be broken as they work together to seek revenge and get the happiness they deserve. This dark edgy story has many twists and turns that will have you on edge until the end and is a must read, you will not be disappointed but you may need a cold shower!. I voluntairly reviewed an advance copy of this book
This book was such a surprise that I couldn’t put it down the high, lows, the twist and turns, the trauma and hatred and revenge that can consume the soul had me drawn in. Declan, Trey, Wes are brothers that lost they parents and sister to one evil barbaric man through raped and murdering them and now the time has come for revenge. They finally get the chance to break into to his house while they are gone out and get the information that’s on a USB stick that will prove he is the monster that they know he is, but while in the process they find his daughter Jessa home and now they have to change there plans and kidnap her and can now get there revenge by punishing her for all her fathers sins. But what starts out as revenge by using her and them hurting her on film to send to her father doesn’t work the first time but the next time its much worse on her and still her father does nothing but orders his men to kill them all including his own daughter. How can this man be so cold towards his daughter and that’s when they realise that she is as innocent as there family had been. Now they must find away to make it right because they are all developing feelings for her and must not take there hatred out against him out on her body. How does it all turn out, read this amazing book to find out the answers you won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily read an arc copy of this book for an honest review.

It's also tender, caring, loving and yes beautiful at times so get ready and buckle up for a hot steamy beautiful rollercoaster ride you won't want to end! Five scorching 🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The "story" was a bit of an empty shell, it's only purpose being to deliver a number of steamy bondage scenes. Which was fine, it did precisely what it came to do.
One of the phrases that the brothers utter throughout the story, I found myself repeating on multiple occasions: "Why did she have to be so sweet and innocent?" Yes, oh ponderous brothers, why indeed? Why must we always be denied the sweet pleasures of a feisty, attitude-ridden leading lady who earns, nay, begs for her punishment??? But alas! We get sweet, innocent Jessa, who doesn't have any of those pesky "personality traits" that might clash with potential readers trying to envision themselves in her erotic situation. To the author's credit, Jessa does get some agency towards the end of the story, which is not often seen with erotica like this.
As far as BDSM erotica goes, this is about the best we can hope for: the author makes a genuine effort to weave character building and relationship growth into an actual storyline, and does not hold back on delivering the kink. If you're looking for BDSM erotica, I do recommend Their Captive as a fun, lighthearted read.
Wow… that’s literally all I can say. This was such an emotional roller coaster and I honestly don’t even know where to begin. It was written so well to the point I could feel the fmc’s pain, even the narrator did an amazing job getting it right. So much action, anger and darkness all packed into one book. The reason I did end up removing one star, is because I feel like the men just blamed the FMC for too much… especially taking their anger out on her for her “father’s” actions. The ending was also not my favourite, as I feel like the characters aren’t fully free and there’s still a lot that’ll happen with the characters that us readers won’t get to experience for the characters future. I’m not much into the pregnancy trope, but I definitely would’ve loved the characters to talk about having kids or even just seeing the characters as parents. The men definitely had a big character development, and I love the fact that the FMC didn’t change into a complete badass near the end. I know lots of books make the FMC this changed person, but I think that the FMC staying the same is what made me love this book even more. Definitely hope to find another book like this soon!
