At first this book read like an infomercial, but after getting into the memory tips, it read a lot better. Most of the tips seemed to be the same (making a story) and it would be better to use this book as a reference, looking up which topic you need as you need it. Reading it from start to finish was a little overwhelming. There were a lot of great ideas and I look forward to trying some.

The book for review is “Mastering Memory: 75 Memory Hacks For Success In School, Work & Life” by Brad Zupp. It falls in the genre of self help.

Do you forget the mundane things? Do you forget things that are too important to forget? What if there were a book that had techniques that could help you have a better memory and a less stressful time in the process?

Inside this book are 75 techniques to help with it all. According to Zupp you can learn how to improve and build your memory skills with easy exercises.

The book covers quite a bit from your life, school and personal growth and work in the sections inside of it. It has a host a of methods to help you work on your memory. You don’t have to use every single exercise. Chose the activity where you are struggling and go from there.

I did enjoy going through this book. I saw how it covered quite a wide span of topics that pretty much fill up one’s life and the activity that makes it hectic.

While I have not tried the techniques I am aiming to go over the ones that apply to me.

A lot of people, including my parents, are concerned about age-related illnesses, in particular diseases such as dementia or other illnesses that affect cognitive functions. So my parents are avid fans of crossword puzzles to keep the mind fit. But when I told them about this book by memory coach Zupp, they were thrilled about the various exercises and tips that he includes to improve memory and keep the mind active. What I really like about the tips included in this book is the fact that a variety of approaches are included so that someone like my father who is better learning by listening versus someone like my mother who must read things to remember can both find the tips that work for them. All in all, a great book to keep the mind sharp and improve your memory for everyday use.

I received a free copy of the book from the publisher.

With 75 memory hacks, surely the reader can apply several of these for improved memory retention. This title intrigued me and the chapters are not disappointing. Though not finished, I have found this book offers a powerful punch probably because the author speaks of his own training and journey, starting where the majority of people are: not focusing. I received a copy complimentary from the publisher.

Seriously? If you want to memorize something use the CAR, FAR, SPEAR, BELL, FIT, CAST, ..., or WTF method. (I made that last one up)
Replace the numbers, words, letters, ... you want to memorize with colors, images, ...
I read this book with growing disbelief and decided to stick to rote learning and spaced repetition.

This book was included in the Health & Wellness Humble Bundle.

Note to self: Never buy a self-help or self-improvement Humble Bundle again.
