Love this series.

Grave Promise
This was an interesting story. This was my first necromancer story and I really enjoyed it. Vexa is drawn to a candle that gives her powers she’s not sure exactly what they are. Now everyone wants the candle and is coming after Vexa. I really like Vexa and Ethan and can’t wait too read more.

Grave Debt
I am loving this series. Vexa & Ethan are trying to get the candle back with Cole’s help. The story is unfolding and I can’t wait too see more of Vexa, Ethan and Cole especially since something has been revealed. Can’t wait too read what will happen next since Greenwood is back.

Grave Mistake
I really want more of Gwydion & Vexa because damn they are hot or should I say cool together. 😜 Vexa, Cole, Ethan and Gwydion find themselves on an interesting task and in different realms. I absolutely am loving this series and the ending WOW. I need the next book ASAP.

Grave Magic
Loving this series. Vexa is trapped in her own mind and everyone is desperately trying to get her to come back. Vexa goes through her own trials and learns what Aethon’s plans are. I’m so excited for Cole & Vexa and the ending WOW. I can’t wait to read what will happen next.

Grave Chance
I absolutely love this series and will definitely miss these characters. It was a great ending to a great series and how it ended was great. I would have really loved an epilogue too see how they were all doing after everything they went down after Aethon. All and all a very great series that if you love paranormal reads then this is a must read series.

I wanted to like this series because I enjoyed the characters, enjoyed the depth of detail in the authors’ construction of rules of magic for all the magical races that were introduced, and was impressed with the philosophical concepts and thought experiments that were presented throughout the series (such as, imagining how the world would function in the total absence of death – from the lowest virus to the most complex life form).

Unfortunately, there were too many errors, the story sometimes dragged mercilessly (including an entire novel spent mainly inside the main heroine’s head) and, at times, there were no precipitating events to explain why the characters behaved as they did. Because of these faults, the novels felt a little disjointed to me – they seemed to jolt along on an unseen track, with little rhyme or reason.

I do have to give the authors credit for their amazing vocabularies. But, then I was left mystified that they were able to use words such as “susurrus” and “ungulate” (had to look *that* one up in my “Webster’s”), but couldn't avoid peppering their novels with misspellings, incorrect homonyms, incorrect pronouns, and consistency errors. (Also, there were a distressingly large number of unfinished sentences in the last book.)

So, while I thought the authors came up with a really imaginative concept, I didn’t believe their execution was up to par.

I was torn on the rating for this book series. At first it was a five-star read for me; I think it helped a lot to put all the books together, because they didn't stand as well on their own. Unfortunately, I think the plot ended up getting unnecessarily complex, several plot threads were left dangling, and things just really unraveled as it got closer to the end. I didn't particularly like the development of her relationships over time; I would have liked to see more true organic development between them, and Gwydion was kept separate the whole time. Some readers may feel beaten over the head with certain messaging as a heads up It's an important message, but it felt like the story would stop sometimes so the authors could explain its importance again. Maybe if those conversations had also come from other characters going through the blue door that would have helped - and why no one thought to use the door for anyone else was an ongoing question for me.

Fun and Different

So overall this was a really good series. The plot was different and intriguing and the characters mostly lovable. The world building was good and thorough. I felt like a little more time could have been devoted to relationship building as a whole group as opposed to individually however. Book 4 was took a surprising and refreshing look at themes of self-awareness, society, and governments. The book held sufficient steam as well. However like others have mentioned I would have loved an epilogue or at least another few chapters following the main event. There was editing errors that were noticeable but not too distracting. All in all definitely worth checking out though.

This was a well-written, interesting take on necromantic powers, fae courts and shifters to a lesser extent. I fell in love with the characters, the plotline was thrilling and kept up a good pace from beginning to end. Well done.

Necromancer, necromancer, werewolf

How in the wold could have been stuck together in a “relationship”, plus now a Fairy is involved. Face can sure throw a spanner into a story.
