Jackson Valley Shifters #3

Quarterback Werebear

Rate this book
Wesley Reed always regarded Chloe as a kid sister.
Until he didn’t.
That fateful night, he learned two terrifying facts—one, he is bear shifter, and two, Chloe is his mate.
Determined to conceal both revelations for fear of ruining her promising future, Wesley leaves Jackson Valley. For good.

Chloe Holt had a crush on her dad’s ranch hand, Wesley, since she was eight years old. No boy could compete with Wesley.
The dream she had that he’d one day see her as a woman, not a girl, was shattered the night he disappeared without so much as a goodbye. Now, all these years later, fate causes Chloe and Wesley to cross paths.
This could go very right or very wrong.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This book takes place 5 years after the events of the second book, Country Star Werebear.

a second chance with a little action

The relaxed pace of this character oriented story helps us understand them better. The series takes place in 5 year increments. So this is 10 years after book 1, where we meet both Chloe and Wesley. 5 years later and it's book 2, we find out why Wesley leaves, and watch Chloe grow up some. Now it is 10 years after book one, and we can see where they go next. Since this storyline is so character driven, I won't say any more. There is a little more action in this story than the others. Read these in order, for a nice quick escape. It was great to see these vibrant characters grow and develop. Enjoy!

This is an OK shifter romance, but I really wanted to knock some sense into Wesley a few times. The story was also just too short to have as much character development as I like. The author gave a little backstory on Chloe and Wesley, but not enough for me to really connect with them. As is typical in shifter romances, this story features instalove. It does have one sex scene, but it is not really explicit.

Wesley was OK, but had serious self-confidence issues. He didn't think he was good enough for Chloe, so he ran from her and hurt her badly. Chloe was fine, but I did wish she would stand up for herself a little more when her friend was pressuring her to date that jerk.

Overall, this one gets 3 stars from me. If it had more character development, or Wesley had more self-confidence, it might have gotten a higher rating.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

DNF 53%- her friends were annoying

I wasn't impressed with how the main characters were acting, but was willing to let it slide since there was room to grow. But Chloe's friends, mainly Mia, were far too annoying. She was so manipulative that I couldn't anymore. And Chloe had no issue with it and was just like 'yeah I'll date this guy who potentially has a crazy girlfriend just cause Mia said to cause she won't give up until I do'.
I don't think I've ever given up on a story because of side characters, but there is a first time for everything and Mia was too horrible with no redeeming qualities.

****spoiler alert*** bad editing, plot line fails

I was so excited to read this book. I felt let down. This book was poorly edited especially with the wording that it was distracting. Then there were what I felt like plot line fails. You know from the beginning that its a bad idea for a shifter being too public so your not really surprised when he ends up in the hospital. But to be a huge public figure andheal in front of a group of doctors who have you cut open? No one questions you getting up off the operating table and leaving? To big of a stretch for me.

Fated Forever

Wesley and Chloe grew up together on her Dad's ranch in the Jackson Valley of Wyoming. Wesley is an abandoned orphan taken in and mentored by Chloe's dad, Tanner. On her16th birthday he learns he's a bear shifter and that Chloe's his fated mate. What follows is heartbreaking, beguiling, real and, in the end, rewarding. Lovely third book in a sweet, tender trilogy.

I liked it.

The pro football was an excellent extra. It is a very good story. The rich boy getting his rear kicked was a very nice scene. Way earlier in life I was around a few of them a d the hit the nose on the head. Good stuff.

Sweet story

Very likable characters and a solid storyline. I enjoyed Tanner and Derek showing up. Editing errors...words omitted and punctuation were a distraction for me...maybe not others
