Summer made a grave error, the type of error that could change her life forever. His name is Mason, and he touched her like nobody ever has, including her husband, Chris. Her sweet husband who suddenly wants things with her that he wasn’t interested in a few months ago. Caught between what her heart feels and what her body needs, Summer has to make a choice and she has to make it fast before her gnawing guilt clouds all sensible judgments. Or maybe it already has, maybe it’s all too late. She can’t trust herself. Bad decisions are what started all this, but was that bad decision Mason, or was the bad decision the husband she’s not sure she ever should have married.
A. E. Murphy is the Queen of sarcasm and satire, she likes long walks in the park, as much as ice cubes like to chill in a roasting oven. She’s effortlessly independent and so good at adulting it’s unfair on the rest of the world. She only napped twice today and has only avoided the dishes for three days before making the child slaves do them this morning. Winning! Her favourite hobby is writing, her worst hobby is reading through that writing. Also she has two cats that carry toys to the top of the stairs and drop them down so they can chase them. They do this repeatedly in the middle of the night. Who cares if she has work the next morning? Not the cats, that’s for sure. And if it’s not the cats doing the waking, it’s the toddler crawling into bed with her and pulling individual hairs from her scalp with pudgy little fingers for comfort. This is likely why she’s in a constant state of grump unless there’s chocolate and coffee. P.S. Please leave feedback, if not on the book then on this ridiculous bio she wrote herself. It’s the least you can do seeing as she’ll forever talk in the third person now. Alex loves her readers. Alex says thank you. Alex smiles.
I'm not really into writing reviews as English is not my native language and I feel really insecure about my ability to express my thoughts correctly, but... ARC provided so review must be delivered. So here it goes.
A Little Bit series happen to be the only books of Alex Murphy that I didn't read. To be honest I was scared that I wouldn't like it like her other books, and that makes me always sad about my fav authors. But following her FB I saw she is writing book no 5 of the series so I thought - why not try it now? So I did... first two books were crazy. I could see how it was her debut, and you know what? I still liked it. Not all was perfect, some things I didn't feel were... mature? I think that's the word I'm thinking about... but then I saw... that it's exactly how people behave. They're are crazy sometimes, doing stupid things and that books were really REAL for me, and that's why I liked them. Book 3 didn't work for me. I don't know why, but didn't feel connection at all. Book 4... it was good. Really good. A little bit too much sex for me but still good. And now no. 5... I won't be lying... after Little Bit of Truth I was really excited about Summers story. First half book was fantastic. 4,5 stars for me. I really liked how Summers actions affected everybody. And how Mason wasn't so... perfect when situation got complicated. That fetl again REAL for me. The other half got a little too sweet sometimes, mixed with dramma, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I love interactions between Summer and other ladies, dialogues were funny and unique, not something you find everywhere, and their personalities... I don't know how Alex Murphy can do it, but she can keep them separately. They're not blending together so there is no chance you don't know who is talking right now and I love it. Also I really appreciate that Alex didn't bother to bring up the past into the picture. She mentioned it, but didn't start describing how Chris and Summer met... I like it that she is focused on present and doesn't cloud my mind with visuals that are not necessary to know. She actually can get you to feel everything that you need to feel not knowing so many sweet and detailed moments of hero ins life, and I appreciate it a lot. Still my fav series of hers is Broken, and can't get it out of my top list so... I'm still comparing her other books to that... 4 stars are really good stars. Thank you Alex for writing so many good books, not all of them are my type, but in every single one I can find something for myself. Loads of Love.
Again Murphy has perfect timing releasing her book. When hot topics show up in her stories that coincide with major present day headlines, you get to see the coin from both sides.
This was Summers perfect story. I'm glad Murphy waited till the timing was right, till these characters were ready to tell their story. What a story they told too!
The writing as always is remarkable and the way the story's told is sublime. Everyday events that normal everyday people go through are poured onto the pages in a way you get everyone's account. Every part, the funny happy parts to the ugly raw emotional parts. Nothing is left out.
I'm a huge fan of the Little Bits series and I highly suggest you start at the beginning to get all the info you'd need to understand this tale.
Awe-inspiring work as always!

I was lucky to receive an ARC copy and I have to admit - I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It is a deep dive into the topic of not appreciating what you have until it's gone but not in a depressing key. Relationships are not weeds, they do not exist just on their own. They need to be cherished and a lot of TLC. If you do not know how, then this is a good guide book for you greenhorns. On top of it lots and lots of sharp wit, just the way I love it. I have not read other books in the series but this did not make me enjoy the book any less. It can be read as a stand alone. However, now I have appetite to read the rest of them as well. For me it is a time well invested. Thank you A.E. :)
This book is amazing!!! I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. The storyline is one full of emotion, it will make you laugh, cry, cry with laughter, and cry some more. AE Murphy has done an amazing job with this book, and the rollercoaster she takes you on is full of everything you want in a romance novel. I LOVE these character so hard, and it shows the ugly in relationships as well as the sugary sweet stuff we all love to read about
Yet another of Miss Murphy’s work I just couldn’t put down till I’d finished it. I loved this book, it’s definitely up there in my favorite of the little bit series. You get drawn in and completely immersed in summers situation and the mature way they handled it. One thing that stood out for me was the dynamic of the girls, unlike most books that have stereotypes and are littered with bitchy fighting, the girls here are awesome. Completely bonded, they are done with the petty and ready to kick ass for each other. Now Mason - where can I get me some of that?! Hunky, handsome, military, slightly romantic (loved the bracelet btw 😉) and isn’t a mummy’s boy.... I would have loved to get his side of this story how he was a player but slowly fell for summer while he was away. I can totally imagine him beating the crap out of Chris though.
Summer is at a cross roads, does she stay in her safety net or just she take the risky leap of faith? Does she changer everything with a divorce or work it out despite the problems they had?
I enjoyed this story. Though I would have loved Mason's pov too. I don't really understand the cover- that one doesn't fit the story. It should be more of a women with two men in a tug a war of something of the like.
This plot dives into such a tough territory but you get to really understand someone's feelings in it. Why does a women cheat? It's very different then for a man- on average- usually when she's tired of a long time of not getting her needs met and has tried to fix before she makes rash decisions. Cheating I hate, but I especially hate when it's done because you just want a warm body or a younger model or such... This story makes me understand her decision and it makes her the exception. Not a scarlett letter.
They way Chris acted- was incredibly offputting and all but glad things worked out in the end. Enjoyed the epilogue.
This was the first book I read in the series as I hadn't realized it prior. Now I need to go back and read the other stories. The final update about Chris is sweet- glad it turned around.
So it's no secret that I've not only fallen in love with Ae Murphys words but also in this series too after devouring book 3 -5 in days and right now I'm gutted the series is over! So we could see that Summer and Chris were having problems from a few books back but who would have thought it would go the way it did?? The journey that Summer and Mason went on was brilliant with some omg moments thrown in! I felt bad for every single one of them at one point while reading but unfortunately these things happen in life and I truly believe what she did was right but wrong too. I smiled through Mason and his antics... I melted with his words I swooned over his army body I fell for him hard in this book I can admit that but reading about him and Summer just made my heart so happy! Ae Murphy you little genius I'm off to see what of yours to read next! *Read as part of Ku*
