After his last assignment, Ryker is ready for a rest. And he gets it—but only a few hours …
That’s even too long for a geologist kidnapped by guerrillas in the Columbian jungle. Ryker has plenty of experience in jungles around the world but, keeping Manila safe—along with the two men she’s traveling with and their injured guide—exposes them for who they are. It quickly becomes apparent, under these most gruelling conditions, which of her party steps up and which plan to step out.
Manila’s life has become one of never-ending misery at the hands of her captors as they await word from their bosses, who decide her ultimate fate. That she’s hunting platinum doesn’t matter to them. Nor that she’s fighting against the invasive illegal gold mining taking over parts of the area. When Ryker rescues her from her prison tent, she places her trust in his ability to get her and her team safely away. Not yet realizing she’d be gifting him both her body and her heart too.
Ryker needs to keep them all alive and together long enough to get them out of this hellhole—hopefully alive …

I really liked this book. I love reading books where you see SEAL skills in practice. This book had all the drama of a mission and of course as is the case with all Dale Mayer books, ends with a happily ever after. The mission was to rescue a geologist and her team from the jungle in Columbia. Ryker and his friend pick up the trail at the last site and follow the trail to the camp where Manila and her two team members were being kept. The rescue was the easy part. Then they needed to trek through the jungle. Once they made it to a coastal village where they could get a ride back to the states. There was one thing that they needed to do before leaving. They needed to find out who was behind the kidnapping. The stakes were raised when Manila was shot. This led to a series of twists and turns and the surprise ending. If your looking for a good read, I recommend checking out this book.
Black ops, mystery, romance. Former Navy Seals are part of an elite organization that doesn't have restrictions like the Navy. They do the same thing but have more leeway to get the job done. Two-man teams get an assignment to rescue victims. Each story lead finds romance/partner.
Interesting story. The men all sound the same, with the same values in life, who want justice for the victims and to make the world a better place to live. There will always be evil people in the world. Their jobs will never end in the fight against evil.
Another favorite from one of my favorite series from Dale Mayer. The suspense hit me from the first chapter and it happens in the Columbian jungle with guerillas lurking every corner. Once I read there's no stopping until the end. Then add wonderful loveable characters and then the twist, yup this one has perfect balance between suspense and sweetness, therefore a perfect, a MUST-READ book for suspense romance lovers.
This is the 6th book in the fabulous Maverick series, I have loved them all and this one didn't disappoint. Ryker Landers , an ex navy SEAL, had just returned from a mission, he had been back up for Asher Tromblay who led the mission to rescue twins who had been kidnapped in China. They were members of a black opp team called The Mavericks, mainly ex navy SEALs who were disillusioned with the military and wanted more autonomy. As an initiation, each member had to lead a two man team on a mission, the next mission would be Ryker's. If Ryker thought that he was getting some well earned R & R he was mistaken, the call came..... His task was to track down and rescue a geologist who was searching for platinum in the Columbia Jungle, she along with her two co workers plus two guides had been kidnapped by Colombian Guerrillas......the guides had disappeared ! This mission didn't worry Ryker too much especially when he found that his back up was old friend Miles, ex British military, both had plenty of jungle experience. Manila Folgers was a geologist working for Global Industries along with Andy, a keen young trainee, Benjamin, a much older guy who Manilla had issues with and two guides, Pablo, young and inexperienced and Allejandro who appeared to be teaching him the ropes. The rescue was dangerous but fairly straight forward but the journey through the jungle was a different matter. The chemistry between Ryker and Manila soon became clear and he would do anything to keep her safe. There are so many red herrings and twists and turns in this story it is difficult to see who the suspects are, Who is out to kill Manila and why ? Could one or both of the guides be involved ? Manila got the job that Benjamin applied for, is he out for revenge ? Were the Guerrillas behind this or was that just another red herring ? Who in the little town they arrived at were guerrilla sympathisers ? This is a great story fraught with danger and suspense, it includes kidnapping, murder and jungle warfare, who was behind all this, who if anyone could Ryker trust ?. This is a standalone book but I now can't wait to read Miles story, keep then coming Dale.

Wow at times this seriously gave me the creeps, snakes not to bad buts it's all the creepy crawlies yuck! Lots of suspense and excitement in what is quite a nerve wracking journey for the heroine and not much in the way of fun for anyone. Looking over their shoulders all the time for fear of being shot in the back or being snatched or betrayed again. Ryker and Miles stay cool calm and collected for the most part and do what's needed to keep even those that don't deserve it safe, all the while trying to figure out who's the snake in the grass and how to get everyone home. Great but a little scary plot kept me interested and invested in turning pages even while holding my breath at times. Fabulous characters, a tense but thrilling plot and a budding romance all in one awesome story, I never get sick of reading these books.
After working with Asher, Riker is next for his own assignment. I really feel sorry for these guys, it seems that call comes before they have a change to recover from their last mission.
Riker had just arrived at his brother's when his call came, he has one night and he was leaving for the wilds of Columbia. On the Navy cruiser he was traveling on he was approached by Miles, a friend and now it seems his partner on this mission.
Manila was the team lead on this excursion to find possible platinum ore. She has a couple of promising stones, but she'd like more. Unfortunately as she was getting ready to unload her finds she and her team are captured by guerillas.
So far they've been left alone, although with very little food or water. With her is a grad student, Andy, who seems to be holding up well, and a colleague Benjamin who seems a bit pessimistic. She has no idea what became of their guides, but that's the least of their worries. Manila has faith that the company she works for will send someone in to get them, and prays that it's sooner rather than later.
Riker and Miles find them without too much difficulty and manage to get them out the back of their tent. Now they needed to put distance between them and the camp.
Manila stays close to Ryker throughout this dangerous trek. A the hours turn to days, Benjamin becomes more and more irritated with everything. He takes whining to an artform and places all the blame on Manila.
A wounded guide, slows them down as they do their best to get him help. They need to know what happened and what they find starts them investigating closer to the group they rescued.
In all of this Ryker finds himself a little more than attracted to Manila. She has courage and fortitude not seen in many who have been held captive.
Once again Dale Mayer has delivered a page-turning, action-packed tale that has romance in the form of banter and just the right amount of sizzle.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Another exciting Mavericks story with a new twist!
This story gets exciting right off the bat with Manila, a geologist, and her two team members getting kidnapped out of their remote camp in the jungles of Columbia by warring guerrillas. Nobody is safe, either from the four legged predators or from the terrorizing guerrillas fighting for their own cause.
I enjoyed Ryker and Miles’ liberation of Manila and her team from their guarded tent in the guerrilla camp and the subsequent trek threw the overgrown, hot, steamy jungle to get as far away from the rebels as possible! I love the intensity of the jungle and the team’s journey through the heat and danger and having to constantly watch for things that bite and slither!
Ryker and Miles seem very knowledgeable and even comfortable navigating the harsh terrain while their skills keep them hidden as they walk for miles in the humidity, bugs and heat is impressive.
I love the danger, twists, and turns that are always keeping your engaged in this suspenseful story. Fast-paced, energetic and a must-read for sure! I loved it!
Ryker is more than willing to help rescue Manila, a kidnapped geologist, and her team in the Colombian jungle. He has had a lot of experience in the jungle but this rescue has mystery as well. Once the geologist and her team are in the capable hands of Ryker and Miles, they realize the danger is far from over. Between the guerillas, the guides (one has disappeared and the other suffering from wounds, the team members who are not acting normally, and the ever present threats from the jungle itself, the journey has just begun. The jungle, the village then the beach all present challenges of their own. I really enjoyed this trip through the jungle, the danger, the interplay of the very interesting characters and the show of loyalty after so many betrayals. I have also decided I don't want to visit the jungle! Read about it? Yes, but no desire to check it out in person! The epilogue has Miles heading to London, a serial kidnapper and the involvement of Interpol and M16. Miles was definitely interested in the Mavericks and now is leading an op and going back to England, his home in the past, where he has not been for a long time. Can't wait to hear his story!
Ryker finishes the previous assignment and is looking forward to a rest, but in a few hours the next job has arrived on his plate - there is a female geologist called Manila who has been kidnapped together with her two male colleagues by guerillas in the Columbian jungle. Can Ryker and his ex-colleague Miles to help out keep her safe and get them all back safe and sound?
This was a dramatic story with dangers from the jungle as well as the guerillas. It became worse when it was apparent that everything was not as it appeared and there was also a subplot involving one of her colleagues - the problem was working it out, find who it was, and letting it play out so that it could all become clear. Then as the story progresses it because more like the other books in the series when Ryker and Manila became closer and built up a dependence on each other. Through it all, both Ryker and Miles were in control and able to keep everyone safe. The ending was very dramatic as we found out who was involved and why. Well written and very enjoyable.

Dale Mayer skillfully creates a plot that includes many “red herrings” to confuse her readers. This book is a page-turner that will grab you from page one, when Manila and her geologic team are captured and held as prisoners by guerillas in Columbia. The plot is so intricate that Ms. Ryder keeps the action and adventure going until the last chapter when she finally ties up the plot.
Ryker and his back up man, Miles, are from The Mavericks team and are sent to Columbia to rescue Manila and her team.
Manila is a strong and independent woman who lives her life her own way. Her extreme courage and stamina are shown when she, her team and her rescuers attempt to escape from their captors by walking through the jungle.
This book is the sixth in Dale Mayer’s “The Mavericks” series. It is not necessary to have read the first five books in order to enjoy this. However, I highly recommend all of them.
The thick foliage of the dangerous jungle is home to more than poisonous snakes!
Ryker has received his instructions from Mavericks, the Black Ops group he is currently working for after leaving the Navy SEALs. No matter how well trained one is, heading into the thick Colombian jungle with a wide variety of venomous snakes, insects and dangerous guerillas to rescue innocent civilians is a daunting task. Fortunately, his SEAL buddy Miles is backing him up on this mission.
Manila is a geologist who is sent to Colombia to locate Platinum deposits. Never did she imagine that she and her two teammates would be confronted, captured and then running from the unscrupulous rebel soldiers. Can they keep up through the deep jungle with the two men who were sent in to rescue them? Can they keep their injured guide alive in this place where survival is a struggle at best.
Ryker and Manila's story is impossible to put down as they conquer one obstacle only to face another and another. Keep the lights on!
(4.5) Loved the twists and turns, I was actually surprised with some of them. That just makes a book stand out of the norm. I appreciate that. Ryker is up for his mission, his "test" so to speak so he can join "The Mavericks" He is sent to rescue Manilia, a Geologists lost in the Columbian jungle. Lost or captured? His helper is Miles. I thought Ryker and Miles worked seamless together and I really enjoyed their partnership. Manilia has a brain!! Yes an intelligent geologists not afraid to speak up for herself, so take that Benjamin! Andy was an enjoyable asset to the Geologist Team. The secondary characters were needed and took the story out side of the norm. An enjoyable, mystery, romance, and suspense. The suspense had me hesitant to flip a page. The romance seemed genuine in the shor amount of time they had, and that adds another plus in my book. Thank you Dale Mayer and Booksprout for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
Ryker by Dale Mayer Mavericks Series Book Six Ryker Landers had been to China on a mission with Mavericks along with Asher. Now it's his turn to be in charge of a mission. The jungles of Columbia of all places. He was going there along with Miles to rescue a geologist and her team. Ryker knew there was a chance that they were already dead...and if not, between the two-legged and four-legged predators in the jungle, well...
Manila Folgers was excited about possibly finding platinum. So focused on rocks, she didn't think about the dangers around her. Until her and her team of two are captured and their two guides are nowhere to be found.
The guerrillas are one danger. The slithering snakes—both on the ground and in the trees—are another danger. And the only way to safety is through the jungle...where hidden dangers lurk everywhere. Another fast-paced, page-turning adventure with the Maverick team. **Sexual content https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Back from the Shanghai assignment via Geneva (Mavericks Book 5, Asher), Ryker heads to the Colombian jungle in Book 6 with Miles to rescue geologist Manila Folger, her two associates, and two guides who were captured by guerrillas as spies. Normally, Manila would make solo trips researching illegal gold mining for her university while looking for platinum for her Global Mining Company sponsors. This time, however, the university insisted that she bring two other faculty members. How did the guerrillas know where to find them, and will all the members of her team survive? Lots of questions to consider for the whos, hows, and whys of this trip’s challenges, as well as finding their way out of the jungle in one piece. My heart is still pounding.

Ryker is sent on a mission with Miles to rescue Manila, a geologist who has disappeared in the Columbian jungle along with her two team members Andy and Benjamin. Ryker and Miles find them in a guerrilla camp being held hostage and rescue them. They begin their race through the jungle with the guerrillas chasing them. Pablo, one of the guides was beaten, stabbed and left helpless in the jungle for the wild animals to feast on. Their other guide had disappeared. They rescue Pablo and carry him with them to a town for medical assistance. While there, someone shoots at Manila and she must have a bullet removed from her shoulder. The action continues and the mystery continues as to who is responsible for everything that has been happening to them. I would recommend this book.

Another great addition to the Maverick series. Ryker takes the lead in this assignment along with an old colleague Miles. Their task is to rescue Manila, a geologist searching the Columbian jungle for Platinum along with her two colleagues Andy and Benjamin. Their two guides have also disappeared and it is presumed they have all been captured by guerrillas. Nothing is as it seems, the story is full of adventure, suspense with many twists and turns that make it hard to determine who is behind it all. Tyler and Manila have chemistry as they trek through the jungle and Miles plays an excellent partner. This adventure keeps you guessing as you join them on an adrenaline packed journey. Great read as always.

This latest book in the Mavericks series takes us to the jungles of Columbia where geologist Manila Folgers and her team have been captured by guerillas. Ryker Landers' turn is up to lead a rescue and Miles joins him.
I must say that I shuddered a few times as the group were making their escape and ran across snakes and other creepy crawlers along the way. In addition, they had to avoid the different groups of guerillas that they came across as they were working their way through the jungle to the coast. But once they are in the small town and waiting for their extraction, odd things continue to happen.
The attraction between Manila and Ryker was grew as they all worked their way through the jungle. There were some surprises in the story as it unfolded toward the end as to who was involved in what was happening and why.
This time we are off to the Columbian jungle and boy does it get intense at times, not only is there snakes, scorpions, guerrillas (not the furry kind!) and people you don't know whether to trust or not. Manila just wants to do her job and I have to say she is one cool customer even after getting kidnapped but also shows her caring side for those with her while Ryker is all business to get them out of the jungle but doesn't mind having manila there and getting to know her more. You really don't know who to trust at all apart from Ryker and Miles and you also don't know what they will come up against as they make there way to safety and even then there is still tension and worry on what will happen next. I am loving this series and can not wait for thee next installment!!!

Ryker ends up getting his next mission and it’s to save a geologist, Manila, who was kidnapped by Guerrillas in the Colombian jungle, along with her co-workers. He is paired up with Miles and the two set out through the jungle to find and rescue Manila and her team. Rescuing them is easy but the hard part is navigating the jungle, avoiding both human and animal predators that would love to have them. Once they reach safety, they will need to figure out why the Guerrillas wanted Manila and if it was an inside job or not. A great read with a bit of steam and big adventure through a jungle with descriptions that felt like I was right there. I love these books by this author, the little to no drama between the couple, the action, the adventure, the characters, and the suspense make them a page turner. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
An Amazing Suspense Romance . I really enjoyed reading RYKER . This is book six in The Mavericks Series . This entire series is fantastic . RYKER is sent to the dangerous Columbian Jungle to find and rescue Manila and her crew that while searching for platinum were captured by guerrillas and are being held at the guerrillas camp . Tyler is assisted by Miles they have quit the time traveling through the dangerous jungle , keeping everyone safe and alive while avoiding more guerrillas . Danger keeps right on there heels .But danger could be closer than they realize . RYKER must protect Manila the woman he has fallen for . This story is fabulous . It is full of action and suspense, very intriguing . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
When geologist Manila and her team are captured by Colombian guerrillas, Ryker and Miles are sent to rescue them. From the moment that Ryker and Miles parachute into the jungle, there is almost non-stop action. With a jungle locale, Ryker can't depend on GPS and electronics, but instead utilize only their former SEAL skills. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Though I enjoyed reading how GPS is used in previous books, it is a nice change to see them doing well without it. This is an excellent suspenseful series, which every book can be enjoyed as a standalone. The romance between Manila and Ryker is very believable. The illegal gold mining, search for platinum, and guerrillas make this book more interesting. I loved this read.
This is an amazing addition to the Mavericks series with Ryker saving geologist Manila and falling in love in the jungles of Columbia with her. It was an action packed romance as they make their way to safety and then back to the States with the help of Miles, another Maverick as they encounter so many betrayals from Manila's workers, guides her company hired and the local guerillas. Miles and Ryker worked well together as they unraveled who was out to kill Manila and got everyone back safely with her guilty crew member. I cannot wait to read about Mile's adventure next as all the Mavericks are finding their soulmates. I highly recommend this fantastic series.
Ryker is my idea of a hero. All of Dale's men are drool worthy and made from honor and integrity. Ryker, however, is special to me. He is strong, intelligent and confident. His leadership technique has him standing back while watching and listening while subtly influencing his team.
Ryker's task is to rescue a geologist, two assistants and their guides who were abducted by gorilla fighters in Columbia. No one seems to know why this group has been taken and this story guides you through all the twists and turns while keeping you guessing about who the real bad guys are.

This book was awesome! Loved the interaction between the characters and how the story line was so easy to read. Loved that the story line twisted and turned and kept you on your toes so you had to keep guessing who was good and who was bad. Love how this series brings one person from the previous book and makes them one of the main characters in the current book. Love how the main characters get along. I do not think there is anything not to love in this book or any of the others in the series! Cannot wait for the next book in the series!

A fast-paced, action-packed, well written book with complex characters, danger, twists and turns and up and downs that kept me on the edge of my seat and unable to put the book down from start to finish. I loved the attraction and undeniable chemistry between Maverick Ryker Landers and geologist Dr. Manila Folgers who is kidnapped by guerrillas in the Colombian jungle and Ryder is sent to rescue her. Ms. Mayer blew me away with this book and I can hardly wait for book seven in this must-read series. I received an advance reader copy of "Ryder" from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I genuinely think that I must have read a completley different book to the one that everyone else has reviewed.
There was no 'amazing plot twist'. It was who we all thought it was from the start.
The characters were dull at best.
The female was, frankly, TSTL. She was selfish & self-centred from the get-go... and more than a little naive. I assume that she had travelled to other places that could potentially hold a threat? And, please... I mean, everyone but everyone knows that South America is a hot bed for guerillas and general shenanigans...
Ryker has one day off when he gets a text asking if he;s ready. Then he is being sent to the Colombian jungle to try an find a missing female geologist.na!ed Manila Folgers .this story has action, adventure, danger and the characters are captivating. There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and you can feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what;s next by this multi talented author.

Manila is a geologist, and she's been kidnapped while working in the jungle in Columbia. Threats to Manila and her team coming from the guerillas, snakes, and spiders/scorpions, not to mention guerilla sympathizers in the village. Who can they trust, and will they ever make it home. If Miles and Ryker are as good as Manila believes them to be, she feels pretty secure in their ability to protect her and her team, and get them home safe. Start to finish an exciting, page turning read. Danger, intrigue, betrayal, and even some romance.. what more could you ask for.
Manila is a geolist sent to Columbia to locate platinum with a two team members. Andy is student learning and is just a helper while Benjamin has worked for the company for a long time, but doesn't have a degree. They're kidnapped by guerrillas. Ryker and Miles are sent to rescue them. It's a dangerous mission with guerrillas everywhere, the jungle out to get them and twists everywhere. The sparks between Manila and Ryker ignite quickly and burn hot. It's an excellent read. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
Absolutely breathtaking, sinfully sexy, and thrillingly suspenseful! This book takes us on a ride that is exciting, heart-stopping, thrilling and everything in between. The suspense, action and drama that is woven in between the love story unfolding makes the book so fantastic. I just couldn't put it down. “Ryker” completely sucked me in and captured my attention from the very first page to the very last. From beginning to end this book is pure perfection! So grab your copy today! Bring on the next one please!! Happy reading everyone!!
