I picked this up in a charity shop along with a couple of other books from Journeys into the Past series. It's beautifully put together and is well written.
I get a sense that this book was thoroughly researched, though no references are given; then again it is not an academic text. This book is ideal for the casual curious reader who wants to find out more about the lifestyles of people across the social spectrum in medieval Europe.
