“Fine. Whatever.”
Two words that you never want to hear come from a woman’s mouth during an argument, and he’d managed both.
“Hey, Steph,” Adam called out. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about this problem I’ve got.”
Without missing a beat, she replied, “I don’t handle mental health issues, Adam.” A small smile played at the corners of her lips.(Adam to Stephanie)
“Yeah, well, not everyone gets a happily-ever-after. Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives some lucky couple a fairytale. For the rest of us, there’s always Ben & Jerry’s. And let me tell you ladies something, those are two guys who haven’t let me down yet.”
“This is insane, and I know it, because I’ve only known her about a week, but I’m falling in love with Lacy. I can’t help it.
She’s perfect for me. She’s sweet, funny, intelligent, athletic and beautiful. Right now though, I’m so close to shifting it’s crazy, and I’m not sure if I have enough control to keep that from happening.”
That would not happen. He would never make this woman do more than ask for anything she wanted. Hell, he would do his best to anticipate her needs and see that each and every one was met for the rest of her life.
She was his.
Ethan knew that if Lacy should ever feel love toward another man, he would likely seek his own end to spare her from enduring his agony.
