Cord is into shaving, finding it an intimate act, especially how a sub really needs to trust him to let him near his face and neck with a very sharp straight razor. Some years ago, Cord’s sub, Liam, left him, not willing to even try a full-body shave. Ever since, Cord’s been spending his Friday nights at the club, shaving subs for their Masters. It isn’t the same as having a boy of his own, but at least he gets to work his magic with the straight razor.

One evening, Liam unexpectedly sends Cord a drink, and Cord finds himself drawn to the back booth where his former sub is sitting. Cord never stopped caring for Liam, and now there’s something different about Liam, something intriguing.

Could this be a new beginning for Cord and Liam?

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Personal Overview

Lacy is an undercover cop working as a model, she is strong minded, gorgeous, very independent and general kick-ass.
Ethan is a forest ranger / volunteer firefighter, and so handsome that he is being stalked by the photographer of the session he is securing, for a long time. He always shuts down the idea until he got a glimpse of one the models, Lacy, and from that moment he wants to take her as his. But Lacy is more than meets the eye...
I really like like the build up of they relationship, and Ethan new exactly what to say to attract Lacy. And sometimes what not to say...
“Fine. Whatever.”
Two words that you never want to hear come from a woman’s mouth during an argument, and he’d managed both.

The interactions with the other characters added also the humor element,
“Hey, Steph,” Adam called out. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about this problem I’ve got.”
Without missing a beat, she replied, “I don’t handle mental health issues, Adam.” A small smile played at the corners of her lips.(Adam to Stephanie)

But Lacy could never forget her mission, finding the models' killer. There was a constant battle between her heart and her head, because when she was near Ethan since their chemistry was so strong, she couldn't think about anything else but him, and her fear for their future.
“Yeah, well, not everyone gets a happily-ever-after. Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives some lucky couple a fairytale. For the rest of us, there’s always Ben & Jerry’s. And let me tell you ladies something, those are two guys who haven’t let me down yet.”

But she isn't alone in this sea of emotions...
“This is insane, and I know it, because I’ve only known her about a week, but I’m falling in love with Lacy. I can’t help it.
She’s perfect for me. She’s sweet, funny, intelligent, athletic and beautiful. Right now though, I’m so close to shifting it’s crazy, and I’m not sure if I have enough control to keep that from happening.”

That would not happen. He would never make this woman do more than ask for anything she wanted. Hell, he would do his best to anticipate her needs and see that each and every one was met for the rest of her life.
She was his.

He was so sweet, and hurt so bad when he had to reveal his secret to her. Ethan was so afraid she didn't want him any more, that he was preparing himself for the worst.
Ethan knew that if Lacy should ever feel love toward another man, he would likely seek his own end to spare her from enduring his agony.

But he didn't need to fear, she was needed a sho time to think, and then she was full speed ahead, even , LOL!
I look forward to the last Wolfe brother, am sure he is a dreamy as the rest of them! ;)

A Hearts On Fire Review

2.75 STARS--Reunited! And it feels sorta good! Reunited! Shaving kinks, I never understood! *waves lighter in the air* Don't breathe too deep, 'cause baby he's got a razor in hand! He's gonna make you look like a cue ball, hey, hey, heeeyyyyy!!

Those aren't the lyrics? *shrugs* Well those are mine for this second chance romance where a needy sub and needier Dom reunite (*grimaces*) and bathe in shaving kink delight.

This book...it felt shallow. Sometimes kink and fluff works and sometimes it just doesn't. "Shaving" is going to be closer to the latter category. A ginger sub leaves his Master over three years ago because he had big bad secrets to conquer. He finds his way back to his Dom once his demons are exorcised and he is clean.

The Dom doesn't hesitate to take him back (it is less than 50 pages, so don't expect any protestations). But poor redheaded sub has been having a bit of a tough life - he's homeless and a day laborer. C'mon, all together now, awwwww! *eye rolls* The sad story was a bit heavy handed.

The sex was hot but the shaving kink...I just couldn't get it. How is shaving off your eyebrows sexy? True love does not equal looking "alien" and having no eyebrows. Why didn't the Dom shave his too, huh? My eyebrows felt violated for the sub's eyebrows. To each their own and all that jazz, and if walking around looking like bruised bald fruit is your thing, do you.

But me and my eyebrows were not that enthused nor amused.

Go ahead go ask that special someone in your life if they'd shave off their eyebrows for you to prove their love... you might get a few who'd do it. But I'm sure there'd be more on my team where eyebrows are free to be who they are.

But I digress.

The story is sort of hot, sort of not...PWP. The D/s dynamics were okay-ish. I love possessive heroes but I did not buy the Dom's "mine" grunting. It was actually annoying. (OMG I never thought I'd say that) The ending just felt thrown together. *shrugs* I'm taking my judgy eyebrows to someplace safe.

Oooookey! So, shaving definitely isn't my kink but... But that bathroom full body shave scene, which took up most of the plot actually, was extremely erotic, sensual, intimate and reassuring.

You see, the sub, Liam, had some serious problems (alcoholism) and he left. He simply left his Dom, Cord behind without telling him what's wrong. Without acknowledging his weaknesses :(

Now, after a few years, Liam is back. He watches Cord shaving different people, subs and Doms, in a BDSM club and he NEEDS... He needs Cord so much that he's willing to lay himself bare - his body and soul - just to be Cord's boy again. He reveals it all: the alcoholic problem, the rehab, the temporary homelessness, the minimum wage day labour. He's ashamed, so very much, but he's also strong enough to come back and try again.
I must admit I liked Liam a lot ;)
And Cord is wonderful too, he takes Liam back, risks his heart again and is determined to this time never let Liam go - whatever the odds.

Again, I liked this read because Cord and Liam were, maybe not an established couple after those few years of separation, but at least they had a long history together, and a D/s relationship before Liam left.
I think only in circumstances like those is such an intense and intimate ritual like full body shave really good: reassuring and cleansing.
I'm still comparing the short reads in this series and still favouring the ones with couples who have known each other for a longer time.

As I said before, erotic shaving is not my thing but I can understand its cleansing factor and a Dom's need to strip their sub naked, so naked that there's nowhere to hide their feelings, not even under a dusting of body hair.

And though the purpose of this scene is slightly different, Shaving reminded me of the cleansing body shave scene in one of my first and favourite BDSM books - Trusting Thomas by K.C. Wells :)

(Sorry for no direct links :( I think GR is not working properly again)

Shaving, when used in BDSM play, is one of the kinks I find more difficult to understand. I can see the appeal of the intimacy during the act itself, and the trust needed for a guy to let another man close to him with a sharp razor. I get the idea of shaved skin feeling very different from hairy bits, especially in more intimate areas, but I have real trouble understanding how shaving someone's head or, much worse for me, the eyebrows, can be attractive! Yes, it will all grow back, but (like the sub in this story says) even babies have eyebrows, and the change in someone's face without this little bit of hair is huge. So yeah, I get why Liam, the sub in this story, ran the first time his Dom mentioned all-over shaving. I am not at all sure it was just due to the secret he wanted to hide from Cord, said Dom. After all, how much can you really "hide" behind eyebrows?

Cord and Liam. Hmmm...I liked this, but the no eyebrows thing was kind of freaky. I mean, have you ever seen anyone who purposely shaved off their eyebrows?

I wanted to know more about their history and why Liam left and how he hid from Cord.

Thinking about getting my husband a straight razor for x-mas now. Let's just hope I don't nick him ;)

Another first for me. Had no idea shaving could be turned into a kink. Mr. Michael proved me wrong.

This gets 3 stars for the simple fact that I was able to glimpse into Cord's mind and perceive shaving as an art form, something enticing and alluring, enough to cause even a physical reaction. It does nothing for me but it was an important part in Cord and Liam's lives. And I understood that, despite my personal preferences.

It seems that another Wolfe brother has fallen in love and in this case, it’s with an undercover human cop with a sexy model body and a no-nonsense attitude.

Lacy is searching for a murderer and stumbles upon a sexy forest ranger/volunteer fireman, Ethan. The attraction is instant and the chemistry is explosive between these two, on and off camera. Can the couple keep level heads and find the killer or will their combustible passion distract them, putting lives at risk…including their own?

When the synopsis mentioned that Ethan was going to be modeling, I was hoping for a sexy fireman calendar shoot. (Maybe in the next book, perhaps?) I enjoyed the mystery of who the murderer was, but when this person was revealed, there was no motivation explained, just a confession. Maybe this person was just crazy, but it felt a little incomplete not knowing the “why” of it.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I did the first two in the series, but I still enjoyed being drawn into the story and loved seeing other members of the Wolfe family. I love the banter between Adam and Stephanie, Abraham’s mate. They always have me laughing out loud. I am curious to know who will catch Adam’s heart. Could it be a certain bartender in town to help her ailing grandma? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I recommend this, and any of Serena’s books, to anyone looking for a quick, paranormal romance with a happily ever after.

I was given this book as a gift from the author and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock for an honest review, and let me tell you I’m all about honesty. I give these book 4 fangs. Lacy Anders is now a detective but back her in college days she was model, that’s why she was chosen to go undercover on a recently defrosted cold case, models are being murdered. Then walks in Ethan Wolfe the sexy park ranger and volunteer fireman who defrosts more than Lacys ready for while in the middle of the case. This book can be a stand-alone book but I personally would suggest reading the others just because there’re that good. One of my favorite things about this book is the complete mystery that’s going on, be it with the murdered models, or the sparks between Lacy and Ethan. Lacy has to be my favorite character and not just because we share a name hehe but because despite everything that’s going on she can still be herself.
But with all the good that comes with a book sometimes there is also some bad. While the story line is actually very well written and doesn’t drive you off course it does have what I think are a few errors, I will not post what they are because hey you never know I could be wrong, or maybe someone else will spot the errors and I won’t be completely insane. This book is totally for 18 + who are into paranormal romance with a little bit of sex.

Oh-freakin’-gosh!!
Ms. Serena nailed it AGAIN!!
This book rocks! From book 1 of the Wolfe Brothers Series up to book 3, it only keeps getting better and better!!

The characters, Ethan and Lacy are really great.
I love their personalities. They are easy to like and to love.
Lacy, a hot-bad-ass undercover cop is really cool.
She’s committed and dedicated to her work.
Ethan on the other hand, a kick-ass ranger and volunteer
fireman is hot and sweet when it comes to Lacy.
I love the chemistry of these characters, I can easily feel and get attached to them.

The story, it is really great and just like the previous books are awesome!! The suspense and the mystery of whoever is the killer was really piqued my interest. Everything is great!!
The way the story ended is great..
I mean REALLY great!! Loved it! I’m not disappointed with it!!

As I said, Ms. Serena really nailed it, from books 1 and 2 she made each book great and have their own unique story that you can’t get easily get bored!! <3

This is such a great series. None of the female leads are the damsel in distress type. Each one, can kick some butt. Lacy is no different. She is a cop, and is undercover trying to find a murderer that targets models. The job takes her to Hasting and that's when the adventure begins.

Ethan is a fireman and forest ranger. He is in charge of making sure that the models, photographer (and everyone else with them) don't mess anything up while shooting in the woods. He has been hounded by the photographer to model for the shoot. He is annoyed by it and refuses, until he sees Lacy. Then he jumps at the chance.

They need to catch this murderer though. I loved how Lacy was putting her job first (well, trying to at least. I couldn't put this book down and have already started the next one.

Once you got to the half way point and Lacy stop with all the 'I have a fast metabolism', 'I have a love-love relationship with food', 'I have to eat often' and all the 'I have such a great body of course men want me' comments & thoughts I liked it more. Baddie was obvious and there really wasn't any actual police work/investigating done but oh well. Not as good as the first two books in the series but nothing close to making me want to skip the next book.

Lacy is on an undercover assignment, meaning you don't want everyone to know you're a cop. Okay maybe not a bad idea to tell the local cops or your new back up.... but to tell his brothers, mother and sister-in-laws? And not even somewhere private, nooooo let's talk about it in a crowded bar! Or out in the open where the other models can hear. Very smart idea!

Ahhh, Sean Michael - he can do no wrong. Hot, hot, hot!!!

There are currently 7 books in this series and they are all stand-alone. Each one is a fairly short read and they are very different so they can be read one right after the other or interspersed between other books.

I get the idea of shaving as a kink. In fact I understand the fascination. But what this author is able to do in a short story is show off the different levels of human nature. I love that this is written in the dom's pov.
