It's hard to believe it's almost over. After three years of living in the wildest apartment in the craziest neighborhood, the clock is ticking down. College is ending. My friends and I, known around Violent Circle as the Frat Hell Guys, have managed to make it to graduation without a major injury or arrest record. It was a close call. My career path as a video game designer is laid out clearly before me, but I have one more objective to achieve before the school year is over; show the beautiful, stubborn, infuriating woman I’m in love with that she’s mine. She just doesn’t know it yet.
S.M. Shade writes spicy romantic comedies and steamy contemporary romances with relatable characters. Whether it's a good laugh or a good cry, she likes to grab you by your emotions and make you feel. An unashamed Croc enthusiast and poetry nerd, she can usually be found listening to Indie Rock on repeat and watching birds.
GAH! I am not entirely sure what I was expecting with this story, but what I got blew me away. Level Up was a hilarious romcom that was so much fun to read. S.M. Shade brings us characters with real issues that not only can you relate to, but she makes you fall completely in love with them. After reading this, I am confident that no man can ever steal my heart the way that Trey did. He was perfection, and I was mesmerized from the moment that I met him.
Now while it is easy for me to love a good book boyfriend, falling in love with a female heroine is not as easy of a task. I tend to pick them apart, so when I tell you that I loved Sasha, you know that is saying a lot. She was zany and fun, but more than that she was real. She had an incredibly fun personality, and the ability to light up the room. She was so easy to relate to and for that I loved her completely.
Level Up gave me all of the feels. Anticipation, excitement, desire, lust, anger, disappointment and love. I felt them all at one point or another while reading this book, and it was a direct result from the author's fantastic writing here. I loved the spark of attraction between Trey and Sasha, and the way they bantered and bickered, and how even through all of that, the chemistry between them still crackled and popped. While it may have started with an understanding-sex, not love-they were always so much more than that.
Level Up was wonderfully written, memorable and an absolute stand-out from page one. This friends-to-lovers story is sure to be a hit, and definitely not one to be missed. Bravo Ms. Shade! 5 stars from me!
Boy oh boy—I enjoyed this one! This is the fifth and final book in the, “Violent Circle” Series. I’ve gotten pretty attached to all the frat guys and gals part of “Frat Hell,” and the antics in Violent Circle! I couldn’t be more thrilled that there will be a spin-off series, called “Slumming It!”
Trey, was always a good fun loving guy in the previous book, but he totally brought it in this one! He was so beyond funny and sweet; I think I’ve had a favorite male character with each new book, but Trey wins!
Sasha was a cool chick, that seemed like an unlikely match for Trey, but they worked and worked well! This was an easy breezy, sweet, hilarious story that wrapped this series off perfectly! I need more books like this in my life; SO glad I stumbled across this series and read it all the way through!
Level Up is another hilarious romcom in the Violent Circle series! These books are so much fun to read. If you are in need of a good laugh then I highly recommend picking up this book (and any of the other ones in this series). S.M. Shade has a knack for writing humorous stories and I know readers are going to go crazy for these books! If you aren't familiar with the series don't fret. Each book can be read as a complete standalone. Characters from previous books do make appearances in later books but it does NOT take away from your overall enjoyment. I can promise this as I have read each and every one of them. So feel free to read in any order you like. Just note, once you start you will have a really hard time stopping because of how fun they are! I'm obsessed with them and can't wait for the spin-off!
That being said, I won't go into the plot because it is a shorter book and I don't want to give all the major plot points in twists away from readers. But it does encompass a few of my favorite tropes and I was so glad with how everything turned out! Level Up is LOW on drama, sexy as hell (Sasha and Trey OOZE love), and heartwarming. I was surprised as to how much I fell in love with their unconventional love story.
If all that makes you smile READ this book! I promise, you can't go wrong with an S.M. Shade book and this one is just as PERFECT as the others!
Level Up - Violent Circle Series - S. M. Shade 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It’s bittersweet to be writing the review for the last book in the Violent Circle series but S. M. Shade has delivered so much reading pleasure, I can’t thank her enough.
Level Up is Trey’s swan song, where we finally see the real man behind the goofball, prankster, Frat Hell dweller that he’s been throughout the series. To say that Trey has met his match in Sasha would be the ultimate understatement but Sasha gives as good as she gets and leads Trey on a merry chase.
All your favourite Violent Circle friends make appearances in this story and there’s lots of memories and wonderful reminders of the fun these guys have had as they have negotiated their futures as not only friends, but as an extended family, even with all their dysfunctional relationships.
Sad to see these guys go, great to finally see Trey get his finale and even more pleased to see there will be a spin off series coming our way.
Thanks for the Violent Circle memories Shannon Shade. Great story but an excellent addition to a brilliantly funny and thoroughly entertaining series.
I honestly don't know why I put off reading this book...maybe because it's the last in the series and I wasn't ready for it to end!?
Honestly, the why doesn't really matter. The book was awesome. It had me laughing throughout the book. This author is definitely one of my all time favorites when it comes to rom coms.
It's been a while since I've read the books from this series, so I didn't really remember Trey or Sasha that well, but I ended up really loving them. This is a stand alone book, but the first chapter does drop you into the aftermath of their one night stand.
One of my favorite things is that they didn't let their hookup change their friendship. They carried on like normal...until things got heated again, leading to another hook up *wiggling eyebrows*
I thought Trey and Sasha had great chemistry. I loved how they were there for each other even when they weren't together. It just showed the type of friendship that they had.
there is one moment when both accept dates with other people...and under other circumstances, it might bother me, but with Sasha's "date" it was a platonic date to a wedding (although there was a kiss) but it didn't mean anything. And Trey's date...well, that was his attempt to move on from Sasha. In both cases, they were not a couple. Yes, they had hooked up multiple times, but it was stated more than once, they were NOT a couple. So I didn't blame Trey for trying to move on from Sasha.
Another part I loved was Trey's success. His parents were awful (ok, his dad was awful) and I was really gad that Trey was able to make a success out of the games he was creating.
Even though this was the end of the Violent Circle series, it's not going to be the end of the books about the Violent Circle. I'm looking forward to the future books about the new people moving into the neighborhood.
There isn't any other author, dead or alive, who fills my heart with as much fluffiness as SM Shade does. From the very first time I see the cover until days after I've finished the book, I have a smile on my face, a warmth in my heart and a weight off my shoulders. These Rom-Com books are just perfection. I adore everything about them, they're down to earth, fun, well written. The characters feel like your mates, or maybe even you. The story lines, even when they are important, are written with a sense of light heartedness that I wish the real world could embrace. In this episode of Violent Circle, we read the story of Trey and Sasha. As always there are ups and downs, mostly ups this time though and plenty of happy tears!
I'm super excited to read about the new Frat Hell inmates and am really looking forward to new tales of mischief and mayhem!
Level Up surprised me in a way I didn't expect, Trey sort of stole my freaking heart and I can honestly say I didn't see it coming.
I knew I would like him but I didn't know that I would love him as much as I did. This story was just an adorable feel good romantic comedy. Where the good guy gets the girl, gets the success and everything else that he deserved. I couldn't help but root for these two from beginning to end.
This is a fantastic ending to a series, that had me giggle snorting and smiling all throughout.
I mean even the ending was absolutely perfect that I found myself a little bit verklempt.
Perfect ending to an amazing series. This book had me dying, hilarious I'm sad to see the crew go but S.M. Shade did it again. Seriously, put this on your wish list, preorder whatever. You won't be sorry. Trey is so swoon.
Soul stealing ginger.. or big teddy bear? Trey is one of those two things. And Sasha, she’s a feisty little one isn’t she? Guess you’ll have to read to find out.
The Violent Circle gang is all present in this one. And you will not be disappointed. The humour and fun loving attitude the characters of the circle bring with them is for sure present and accounted for in this book.
I loved how light hearted and fun this read was. Don’t get me wrong there’s conflict and challenges and well the Frat Hell Boys.. but Trey.. you just want to root for him. Something about the red hair and freckles really makes me want him to succeed throughout this book.
Plus there was a lot of stuff I related to or have seen happen in my day to day life in this book and that made it even more fun for me to read. Haha. It’s really cool to know what the characters are dealing with.
It also gave me some ideas of things to do when my co workers aggravate me.
I will for sure be putting this one on my shelf. And also be encouraging my soon to be graduating son to read it (yeah I’m that parent).
I can’t believe that the time is finally here! Violent Circle has been one of my absolute favorite neighborhoods to spend time in! I don’t think I’ve laughed or swooned so much! You have got to read this book and the rest of the series now!
Still just as cute and funny as the previous books.
General gist with spoilers:
🔵Rating - 2.5 stars - it's funny, but not as steamy as I like my books to be. But I had to finish the series off. 🔵Steam - 2 stars - ::insert shoulder shrug here:: 🔵Storyline - 3 stars - we knew Trey was going to have some hurdles to get over, but these two seem to get into the funniest things 🔵Plot Twists - 3 stars - they sure did shake up the story 🔵Emotional Pull - 3 stars - I actually was a bit sad in a few scenarios, but no tears here. And lots of giggling 🔵Writing - 3 stars - easy to follow and comfortable to read, but a bit boring in my opinion and I started speed reading 🔵Denouement - 4 stars - well wrapped up. Glad all the character's stories converged at the end. It was nice to get to see how they were doing and I was super happy to see that the gang keeps in touch. 🔵Cliffhanger? - no 🔵HEA? - yes
Trey Bryant lives in "Frat Hell" on Violent Circle and works at the local Tasty Tacos but has a dream of designing video games once he finishes school. Trey also has a crush on a girl named Sasha whom he knows will never take him serious enough for a relationship.
Sasha Baker is a tattoo artist and when her place is unlivable she comes to stay at Trey's until she can move back to hers.
But when Sasha and Trey begin a "no-strings" relationship lines begin to get blurred and they both need to figure out what they want before it's too late and they lose each other.
This is another great book in the series and I am definitely sad it is coming to an end.
I thought of Trey as almost a diamond in the rough. He worked down at Tasty Tacos but he had such a knowledge of creating video games. I loved how he really wanted Sasha but didn't think he was good enough for her but still tried the best he could. I loved the incident that injured the tailbone and what happens in the hospital. Then the scene with Diana was even more awesome!!
I really liked Sasha and I was laughing about the bats! I understood why she went with Elijah and I did understand why Trey was upset/jealous after. I loved that she was so happy at her job and that she had great friends to work with.
I really liked everything with Christmas and I thought the whole thing was sweet and fun!
One thing that ran through the book was how Trey had such bad luck with certain things! Made me laugh so many times and I really felt bad for him! Yet at one point everything turns around and I definitely did a happy dance for him!
The end was so awesome and I absolutely loved the way it ended and that it will lead to more!!
Hero's millionaire status- This came out of left field. Hero in the beginning was essentially slumming it and had a passion for coding or something which btw was never explored or explained other than he liked doing it. He made a really popular game that he sold to a big company and he's rich, which again came out of nowhere. When heroine got prego, he had to figure out how he was going to take care of his child and he was falling back on his game which isn't very realistic especially with a baby in the mix. He got rich and all is well.
Their relationship- moved weirdly. I still have no idea when exactly the heroine got pregnant, it again came out of no where. Hero and heroine were also in 'love' at one point but I have no clue when it happened because I just didn't see a real bond set in stone.
Pacing of the story was shit and hero and heroine's relationship should've been explored more. This book was a bit funny, I laughed a little and I did enjoy it at times but damn it, I was bored. I was legit close to tears of frustration because of how bored I was. I wanted to stick with the story though, only 16 chapters + an epilogue. (btw epilogue was so darn cute.)
- also the smut was pretty bad. It was like he stick it in and then she came, they were written in a way where I'm just like.. how could she stay with someone when the sex is bad. (maybe it wasn't but it was written bad.) This story needed to be longer and fleshed out more, especially with heroine's reluctant to get into a relationship based on getting cheated on by a long term ex. Hero's family problem's should've been explored more too. Those external problems came way to late in the book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
5 straight to the favorites list stars!! Omg I am in tears over here. This is a hilarious book and straight to number three of my all time favorite rom coms. And FYI the two above this book are written by the same author. She is a damn genius!!
This is the 5th and final book of the “Violent Circle” series. This can be read as a stand alone but if you want to read the funniest series of your life then read them ALL!! My heart is broken. I don’t want this to be over. I actually got teary eyed at the end and my heart hurt for these guys to be moving on from “Frat Hell”. I’m glad she is going to have a spin-off called “Slumming It” but these OG’s will always have a special place in my heart.
This is Trey and Sasha’s book. And I am super excited for this. I have always wondered about Trey and what lucky lady would get him. Sasha is his complete opposite and I fucking love it!! I love this entire book and their story.
I wish I could tell you about some of the funny parts but I won’t ruin it. Let’s just say this book is laugh out loud funny. Even my husband said “it can’t be that funny”! Umm yes it can. Fucking hilarious!!
Once again this author provided a story full of laughs, and heart felt moments along with lessons to be learned. This book was perfection. It is written flawlessly. Not one thing I could even thing to change. This book is a MUST read. This series is a MUST read. And when you do drop a comment let me know what you think because I am in love. I don’t think I will ever even find a series that will compare.
**I received this book as an arc and in return gave my honest review**
A Giggle Fest That's Full Of Romance & Steam!!😂💘🔥 4.5 Stars 🌟
Oh what a joy this book was to read.🎉
The Frat Hell boys continue their hilarious insults, pranks & childish stunts, all with their usual aplomb 😂 Denton's unlucky streak is still in effect 🙈 Trey falls hard for Sasha but she's fearful of relationships & giving her trust away!!😔 Trey is a loveable guy though with a tonne of patience so it's safe to say his arse may get broken but not his heart!!🙈👀😂💘
This book is very much centred around 'VioleNt Circle' & the couple's friendships. Of course the guys are going to graduate this year so they're all getting a bit nostalgic!💙🙏💕 They'll have to move out of the Circle & start Adulting properly, some sooner than others!!😍 We meet Trey parent's, he's nothing like them - thankfully 🙌 I need to say Sasha & Trey are so cute together.💘🔥💘
This book is hilarious, romantic, steamy, inspiring & full of so much heart.😍 The world building in this series has been outstanding, as has the characterizations. I include VioleNt Circle itself as a character, because the personality of the place leaps off of the page - the writing has been phenomenal 🌟 I'm so sad this is the final book in this series 😭 I was really happy to read that there will be a spin-off series in the future though 🙏🎉
This is another lovable, heart warming, giggle fest & unmissable rom-com from this Author - You'll laugh out loud & love it!!🌟
OMG such a great book! I laughed til I cried (for real, I'm teary eyed right now). This whole series was great, and I'm so sad that we're saying goodbye to Violent Circle. I want to live there! Seriously, with all the pranks and hi-jinx it seems like it would be so much fun, and they are all such cool and loyal people, like a close knit family. My kind of place. I just love this author's sense of humor, and her delivery just vibes so much with my own sarcastic self that she could probably write a horror book and I'd read it (thats saying alot since I'm a big wuss!) For comedic balance, she's one of my top two go to authors when I need a laugh. Trey and Sasha are a match made in Heaven! I've loved Trey since day one and was chomping at the bit to get a satisfying story for him, and this author delivered and made it worth the wait. I can't wait to read about Kelly (Trey's sister who we meet in this book, gets her own book at some point) and maybe the author will fill us in on how the others are doing along the way. This book is a MUST for rom com lovers, it can be read as a stand alone but you will want the series trust me!
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual content and a lot of hilarity Trey is an easy going, hard working, game loving, college man that's about to graduate. Trey has had a thing for Sasha for awhile, but she is not a relationship type of girl. Sasha loves her job at the tattoo parlor and she like looking at the frat hell guys. Sasha knows Trey is interested, but after her last relationship ended with a cheating boyfriend, she's just not ready to try again. I've read this series from book 1, but they can be read as a stand alone. Reading this series in order let's you get to know the reoccurring characters better. All of these characters are amazing, with the exception of Trey's parents. This book is quite as funny as the others, but has more feeling, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of hilarious scenes. Trey's character has a more emotional story than the others. The story is well written with great characters and silly antics. This was a beautiful ending for this group of characters. Even though the Frat Hell guys are done, it looks like Trey's sister is picking up where he left off and renting a room at the frat house. I wonder what kind of havoc she makes?
This book was bitter-sweet. It was funny, as all the other violent circle books are- but it's the last in the series closing out on all the crazy chaotic characters (but don't worry- there WILL be a spin off series Slumming It- so be on the look out for that in the future!) Level up follows Trey and Sasha. Trey is in his last year of collage, still living in First Hell with Denton and Becca, and Sasha- his hook up that he wants more with- takes the guest room when her apartment isn't livable for a month. Besides trying to make it to graduation without a major injury or an arrest record, Trey is trying to set up a career as a video game disigner- and get the girl. Will Trey be able to meet all his objectives and level up, or will he degenerate? This romcom is light and fun, and exactly what I needed. It brings on the college humor and crazy residents that you can expect from violent circle. I'm sad to see this story close out the crazy, fun series, but can't wait to check out Slumming It following all new characters! 4⭐ out of 5⭐.
Oh man, oh man, oh man. I love the whole Violent Circle gang but Trey just had a little somethin' somethin' that made him extra special. I loved how laid back and chill he was, most of the time. But I love how much he went all in when he finally realized his real feelings. I love the fact that he wasn't your typical "hot bod, college dude", he had a litte softness to snuggle up to, so even though he's a ginger and my hubby isn't, I was visualizing my hubby from time to time....(wiggle eyebrows here).
Sasha was just so much fun! I'm glad there wasn't this huge, dark, scary background for her cause sometimes, you just want a light, fun, sexy read and boy did Shanonn deliver that for us here! Don't get me wrong, there was a little angst, cause what's a love story with out some angst, but it didn't bring down the overall fun of the book. I have to say, I honest to God think the epilouge was my absolute favorite part of the whole book! Dying, laughing out loud, so thankful the hubby was working graveyards that night!!
Outstanding ending to the series and I look forward to seeing these guys down the road (hint hint). Once again the author has written a wonderful storyline that made me laugh, smile and remember the good old days when I was young, struggling and trying to make sense of adult life. The guys and gals from Violet (AKA: Violent) Circle know how to party and as they near college graduation are learning what it means to be grown up and responsible. But the storyline makes brings their struggles, fun times and romantic times to life. As I read along, I felt all the pain, fun, worry and wonderment that Sasha and Trey go through. Level Up and all the Violent Circle books made me feel like I was right their living with the gang.
Kudo’s Ms. Shade for a funny, romantic and heartfelt book / series. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest to start at the beginning to get the full effect, you won’t regret it. They are all quick reads with loads of laughs and romance. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars for another great addition to a 10+ star series.
No, I just can't except that this the last book in The Violent Circle Series. How am I suppose to move on with my life without the Frat Hell Guys and the rest of the residence of Violent Circle? At least I can say that this series ended with the perfect couples story.
Trey and Sasha really was the perfect couple to end this series. Their story was one that will have you swooning over Trey and his way of being the big cuddly teddy bear that he is. I already liked his character from what was shown of him from the previous books. And Sasha was the perfect girl for him, with her smart mouth. She fit right in with the life of the Frat Hell Guys. I can gladly say that Trey's character stole my soul and made me fall in love with him. Damn that soulless ginger.
Now onto the waiting game for the spin-off series. And one can hope that this will not be the last we will see of the Frat Hell Guys and the women that worked their way into their hearts.
What an absolutely perfect way to wrap up the Violent Circle series! Right down to the final line in the book. The story of Trey and Sasha was a joy to read! I laughed so many times I lost count. The feels were there! A time or 2 I felt a little prickle in my eye. The ending of this book really read like the series finales of some of our favorite comedies! Right down to them reminiscing about some of the funny things that happened throughout the 5 books! Sasha and Trey basically made the perfect couple with his complete laid back attitude and how she like to get a little bit uptight about some things. Be she didn't take herself too seriously that it would cause problems with them seeing as how him and the guys still like to act like children. I almost want to say that they are my favorite of the Violent Circle couples! Great book! Phenomenal series! I recommend every sing one of these books to anyone who is in the mood to laugh!
Level Up by S.M. Shade is book five in her Violent Circle Series. Reading Level Up was bittersweet. Sweet because it's a fantastic book and bitter because it's the conclusion to this series. Level Up is Trey and Sasha's story. Trey is the last single one of the Frat Hell boys on Violent Circle. He loves his pranks, works at Taco Bell - yummy, and is a lighthearted young man. Annnddd he falls hook, line and sinker for Sasha the stunning tattoo artist. Sasha is part of the tribe and when she becomes temporary roommates with Trey and co there's nothing in their way. Level Up gave me all the feels. It made me laugh, it made me a bit sad and it let me fall in love again with the characters from this and previous books. Frat Hell gets laid to rest, the end of an era and a witty, fun, hilarious lol read, a brilliant rom/com.
I absolutely loved this book. I laughed and laughed until I cried at all of the one liners. The horse scene had me snorting with laughter and tears to leak and my family wondering if I had finally lost it. The last book in the series about the lives of those who reside on Violet circle. It's been a good run and I loved each and every book. In this last one we have Trey, if you read some of the others he was in the frat house and was scared of a doll (it was creepy) we also get to read about Sasha the tattoo artist. They hit it off, stuff happens then you read The End at the end of the story but I really want to read more of the other characters, to laugh like a loon that's been possessed, to be smiling like a Cheshire cat for hours after reading. An amazing author, amazing read and can't wait to see what's next.
This was another fun book in the series. A secret relationship filled with silly nicknames and drunken episodes. I laughed so hard at some of Trey's horrible accidents. This guy. He's ridiculous and so accident prone, but still an amazing guy. I loved that he wasn't a hard body with abs for days, he had love handles and he was still hot. It's nice having a hero whom feels like a guy I would actually date, you know? I just like a man who has a little extra.
Anyway, now I feel like I'm objectifying men and that's not cool, so I'll end this by saying that I loved this book and it's kind of bittersweet since it's the end, but this whole thing was really funny and sweet and it gave me some good reasons to smile. These are my kind of people. Loved this. Will definitely spend some time reading the author's other work.
Well, after 10 days, I've finally read all 5. I still think I've read them before but I do t care, I can't get enough. I absolutely loved Trey and Sashas story, it was the one that moved me the most. It's a shame Cassie and Wyatt weren't in more of the book in this series. I felt they'd been forgotten. I've followed authors and over time purchased a whole series or 2. Never have I ever read a series back to back like I have this one. Often I find a character or 2 I'm not so keen on and will skip a book. This is the first series I've read in such a way and loved every single character.
I'm looking forward to Kelly's story. Can't wait for the next series. I'd highly recommend Violent Circle Series.
I am so sad to see the end of this series. It's like saying goodbye to close friends you have had so many great memories with. Fondly recalling all the funny moments and outrageous shenanigans that can't help but to always bring a smile to your face. These characters have woven themselves into our lives and won't let go.
Sasha and Trey are just the cutest couple. They deserve all the happiness. I really never paid too much attention to Trey in the previous books focusing on the main characters, and boy did I miss out!! I need to go back and re-read them. This is an instance of the good guy getting the girl he deserves!!
I truly have loved this series by SMS and this was the perfect conclusion that has been building up over the other books. Sasha has a wonderful character with a funny personality and Trey is the perfect gentleman (but a lot funnier). The friendship they’ve developed over the years is prevalent whilst they navigate going from friends to lovers and what a story it is.
Personally, I loved most that Trey’s feelings were obvious the whole time from the dual POV and his tactics to pursuing her were funny as hell. Sasha on the other hand was hesitant to become more than friends and is very real and straight about it and Trey is understanding in he takes it slow.
I presume if you’re on the fifth book that you’ve read the others and trust me when I say that this is just as funny! I can’t wait to read the spin off series as I have no doubt it’ll be just as good.
I recommend this for anyone looking for a book to laugh out loud.
I very much enjoyed the Violent Circle series and reading about the Frat guys, especially. They know how to take hilarity to the next level (no pun intended). Yet, with as much fun these guys have, and their more than occasional immaturity, these guys are no dummies. It's fun to take a tour through their lives. I'm happy that Trey got to share his not easy, but inspiring story. With school coming to an end, he's really grasping the adult concept, and he has a chance to get the girl and his HEA in ways he never imagined. Sasha was a lot of fun to get to know about too. It takes a strong women to put up with a Frat boy. I always love getting an up close look at a Circle party!
