Tehzeeb Hasan lives in the quaint Jasmine Villa in Bangalore with her father Yusuf and her sisters Ana and Athiya. Their rundown little house is no villa but Tehzeeb loves it dearly. Not too keen on marriage, she hopes to work for a few more years in an NGO before her father succumbs to one of the many inevitable proposals sent by nosy aunties. A chance meeting with an old friend Yusuf brings home, results in a marriage proposal for Tehzeeb who is reluctant and wary. Young, handsome architect Ayub Ahmed is one of the most eligible bachelors of the city and he is not interested in getting married either, until he meets beautiful Tehzeeb. Their vastly different backgrounds do not matter until after they get married and Tehzeeb realises that she’s expected to be a perfect bahu, dressed in flowy ghagras, and wearing jewellery at all times. Stifled by the numerous vapid parties she attends with her mother-in-law, she yearns to break free. Will Tehzeeb go too far in her quest for her own identity amidst the well-coiffed ladies who lunch? Will her love be enough to overcome the sense of betrayal Ayub feels over her actions? Tehzeeb and Ayub’s story, One Way to Love is the first in the Jasmine Villa series, a romance novel series by Andaleeb Wajid.

This is the first book in the series but the last one that I read in the series. I messed up the order but that just shows how well these books function as standalone romances as well. coming back to the book, this has become my favourite one in the series. In Tehzeeb and Ayub's love story, Andaleeb has created a believable world of love which I was very reluctant to leave when the story ended. :)
The book focused on the eldest Hasan sister, Tehzeeb and her marriage to Ayub Ahmed.
Tehzeeb was an ordinary girl living with her sisters and father in her home, the Jasmine Villa. That is when she receives the marriage proposal to marry Ayub Ahmed. The Ahmed family was rich compared to that of the Hasans. She would have to adjust to her rich life style to have a good marital life.
The story was interesting from the start to the end. From reading about the love shared by the sisters in the Jasmine Villa to that of Tehzeeb's interactions with Ayub; each moment in the story was special. The characters were well developed and the writing style helped in the smooth flow of the story.
Just like the cover, the entire book was so good. The conflict in the story occured and solved smoothly. I loved the ending too. The story is special as it had started and ended on a good note. It filled me with love and warmth, even after the book ended.
A very enjoyable interesting and entertaining story
This is the first book that I am reading by this author and now I want to read all of her stories.
Simple and elegant cover photo, a precuse blurb and a very engrossing story. It may seem to be filled with many so called Cliches but it still kept me hooked on to it. A simple well written story with all the emotions of love, friendship, heartbreak and also a saga of relationships. If you like well written romance with quite a bit of drama and written in a good writing style then pick this one up
Tehzeeb and Ayub’s marriage starts off being an arranged match: his very wealthy father approaches her relatively down-at-heel Abbu (a former classmate from college), asking for Tehzeeb’s hand in marriage for Ayub. Fortunately for Tehzeeb and Ayub, sparks fly the very first time they meet, so by the time they actually get married, they’re already halfway to being in love, if not more… and then stuff begins to happen.
Andaleeb Wajid is one of my favourite Indian writers: one of those rare people whose books I’ll read simply because they’ve been written by this person, and I can look forward to a good story and solid writing. One Way to Love was no different in that sense from the earlier books of Andaleeb’s that I’ve read (this, I will point out, is my first Andaleeb Wajid romance, though she’s quite the romance queen!). It was well-crafted, the characters were interesting. Besides the two protagonists, I especially liked the way Andaleeb etched the women surrounding them: Ana, Athiya, Aafreen and Maira are all, in their way, intriguing and very real. There was humour, just enough tension to up the drama, and just the right amount of sizzle.
The first book in The Jasmine Villa Series, "One Way to Love" is a story focussing on the eldest daughter of Jasmine Villa, Tehzeeb Hasan and her marriage to Ayub Ahmed.
Tehzeeb and Ayub belongs to different financial strata, their marriage an arranged one conspired by both their fathers who were long lost friends. Though it was an arranged nuptial, for Tehzeeb and Ayub it was love at first sight. After marriage Tehzeeb struggles to blend in her new life where adjusting into the rich lifestyle of her husband and inlaws becomes a challenge for her.
The book beautifully captures the essence of both siblings love and romantic love. It deals with the fact that how a girl had to adjust into a new lifestyle after marriage and the responsibilities that come with it. The language of the book is easy to understand and is very well narrated. I loved how the author focuses on each relationship be it father-daughter, siblings or husband -wife. The transformation of a daughter to a daughter-in-law is vividly narrated.
The story also narrates how successful marriage is an equal effort from two parties and trust, understanding and communication are important elements. An irresistible romance along with some drama and twists and turns makes the book a very nice read.
Usually, a book on romance finishes when the lead pair confesses their love to each other and then everything ends happily ever after with an epilogue in some book. But this love story is different. Her, a girl and boy meet, they fall in love, they get married and the love story and family life move in parallel. I loved the characters, Tehzeeb, for her independence and Ayub, for his understanding. They are realistic and we meet people like them often. The bond between the sisters and their conversations have been depicted well. I loved Ana’s practicality and Athiya’s boldness. The feelings of both the characters have been described and I loved it when Ayub realises his love for Tehzeeb before she realises it herself. The scenes have been described in detail and the chemistry between the lead characters sizzles. The author’s writing style is simple and the story moves at a fast pace. The story has everything, family, friendship, love, drama, misunderstanding. This the first book in the Jasmine Villa series. The best part is that we can read them as standalone as well. I binge read the three books of the series and was not a bit disappointed.
I really liked this story. I felt like I was watching one of my Netflix dramas. The story takes place in Bangalore. The heroine, Tehzeeb, is the eldest of three daughters (each of the daughters will have a book in this series). Tehzeeb’s father, who is poor, and a wealthy friend from his school days arrange for Tehzeeb to marry the friends’ son, Ayub. Only Ayub is unaware of their intentions. There are a few twists and turns that involve the other characters in the story including Ayub’s social media influencer sister Maira. Tehzeeb’s sisters are introduced and are part of the story as well. What I really liked is how the rich people were not the villains. Tehzeeb and Ayub hit a major obstacle because of something Tehzeeb does--which is a pretty funny mistake. Also, there is a situation with Ayub and Tehzeeb’s father’s that creates conflict in the story. Overall this was an engaging entertaining read.
Week 35 Book 34 One way to love by Andaleeb Wajid Rating 2.5/5
Nothing like a chick-lit to bring you out of your reading lull. A usual Wajid, One way to love is about 2 families - one ultra rich and one somehow scraping by, and their union by virtue of marriage. Obviously, when two people from completely different backgrounds come together, there are bound to be fireworks. A decently engaging book, concentrating on the love story between Tehzeeb, the eldest daughter of Yusuf, and her husband Ayub. This is the first installment in the series. Two more books have come out, that elaborate the love stories of the other two daughters of Yusuf. Quick reads, good for palette cleansing or passing time.
Just finished One way to love by @andaleebwajid ... The first book in the Jasmine Villa series, a quick read, but just like others from the author. I loved the story, the charecters and the narrative. Since Ana was one of my favourite charecters, can't wait for the 2nd book to come out.... .
The author has taken the concept of arranged marriage and given a new twist to it. A great mix of traditional and modern values. The narration is fluent and crisp. I finished the entire story in one sitting and am looking forward to read Ana'a story.
