I love this comic with my whole best heart. It’s warm, sweet, and enveloping as a hug. A story based on the premise that love can be stored in something as simple as the cooking and sharing of a meal, and as quiet as the presence of someone who eases the sting of loneliness—that we can be such small unexpected gifts to each other. If you’re looking for a respite from the rest of the world, this comic is just the place to be.

6th April, 2023: THE ADAPTATION IS HERE!!!!

✨Loving someone is also about carrying the pain of losing them✨

I just cannot unlove this series... because I am so into it now, I just cannot go back.

The characters are so damn honest and pure that you just want to know them in real. The relationship is so pure between the characters that you start to analyse your life all of a sudden while reading this that if you really have someone like this in your life. If not, your life has been living a lie. Because you know we all need this kind of relationship in our life to be fulfilling.
Seriously, this manga has so much to offer to the readers. It talks about grief, the emptiness of just living on, dead, family, love and...at the most, what we deserve and what matters in real.

I love the main characters the most. Their relationship is so pure that you would want to protect it like your life depends on it.
The father looks so damn clueless but he is one of my most favourite fictional parents ever!
The kid is super cute and he plays a big role in the whole story.
Every character gives you a warm feeling, that fuzzy vibes just cannot go wrong.

The artstyle is really amazing and a treat to the eyes!

I feel like my soul has been thoroughly cleansed after reading this series.

Damn. I am so into it...

Are you freaking kidding me???? 🥹😭 This was so CUTE AND SOFT AND WHOLESOME. My heart!!!! This was the softest boy love manga I think I’ve ever read, I adore them. Tane, the younger brother is the sweetest little bean too. I love the way they open up to each other and share their burdens and all the things they’ve gone through and the way they help each other through it. And the way they use food to bond. This was everything, I’m emotional. 🥹😭🫶🏻

The sweetest fluffiest most adorable manga ever. Frankly this may be too cute for my fragile heart. It's basically about a lonely salary man who is adopted by a college age kid and his much younger brother. It's so cozy and sweet and all about food and I JUST LOVE IT so much. This book will not hurt you, it is like a graphic novel meets hot water bottle - nothing but warmth and comfort. (There is also a live action adaptation.)

"I think that... loving someone is also about... carrying the pain of losing them."

THIS IS SO GOTDAMN CUTE OMGOMG!

Tane is a precious cinnamon roll and I would leap in front of a moving train for him. Protect him at all costs.

This was just so sweet. It had the perfect amount of angst and fluff. I loved the backstories and the growth the characters showed in such a short story.

Mostly, I adore the depiction of two men falling in love and raising a small boy together. How cute is that?!

What a comfy read!!!

This one read like a warm hug, a hit chocolate on a rainy day, a finger of whisky in front of a warm fire on a cold night. This was just pure comfort.

I am not going to lie, today was a tiring day. I was functioning on just 3 hours of sleep and fighting hard to finish one of my reports in time for the deadline and came back to my accommodation quite frustrated. It did not help that my cousins were getting on my nerves too. I picked this up randomly (as I always do with my books) and boy I am glad I did. Today was the perfect day to read this kind of book. It really made my day feel so much better.

The romance aspect is really not that much but the story really flowed so comfortably. The only disadvantage I can say about the book is that it was too short. I wished we had more comfort reads like this. It was just simple story, not anything unique but the beauty of that simpleness is what makes it so good. It must be quite a house with four males living together now. Can we please have a side story with Tana all grown up? That little snippet really wasn’t enough.

Our Dining Table by Mita Ori is a super adorable manga about one young man who meets another young man because of his even cuter little brother.

It is a boys' love story which is a subgenre of manga and anime about male/male relationships that are written by women, for women. It's an oddly specific category that is usually more cute than sexy, more romantic than erotic.

As with almost any manga I read I borrowed it from my boyfriend because he reads far more of it (and of romance) than I do. He really introduced me to the whole concept of boys' love stories and I still haven't read many at all.

In Our Dining Table Yutaka is a lonely young man who doesn't fit in with his family or his coworkers. Being ostracized by these groups has caused him to have issues with eating with people. It makes him feel very uncomfortable.

Because of this he typically buys a ready made lunch at the convenience store and eats that and his homemade onigiri (rice balls) by himself.

One day a young child runs up to him at the park and ends up sharing his onigiri. The child, Tane, has an older brother Minoru who is hesitant to allow his young brother to take food from strangers but Tane seems to have loved it so much he gives in.

Minoru invites Yutaka over to help him learn to make the food his little brother loves so much and from there they build a relationship that is the envy of us all.

Minoru and Yutaka bond over shared losses, family, and food until they realize that they both love each other as far more than friends. From their first kiss to them forming a family with little Tane this book is as cute as it is loving.

I found myself enamored with these characters. Their dynamic together is touching and sweet and at times relatable. Their progression from strangers to lovers is organic and never forced. It makes sense the whole way which is impressive for so short a story.

Our Dining Table is a very simple, quick read. I finished it in under an hour. But it is a delightful way to spend an hour. I definitely recommend picking it up for one of those days when you need a simple escape on your lunch break that doesn't require much focus or stress.

If you love food and tenderness this one is right up your alley.

The first manga of 2020 was a wonderful discovery that I devoured in an afternoon.

Our Dining Table by Mita Ori is a tender look into family dynamics and a meditation on the joy brought on by sharing meals and time with those we love.

Shy salaryman Yutaka and university student Minoru meet by chance in a park through Tane, Minoru's younger and lively brother. Their encounter triggers a series of apparently small events that will change their lives.

I've really loved Mita Ori's gentle touch in portraying these fragile characters who can still, despite loss and heartache, learn or re-learn how to cherish the small joys of life. Their story is perfectly human, relatable and heartwarming.

The drawings are delicate and full of emotions.

Our Dining Table is a lovely example of BL, without stereotypical characters and repetitive plotlines, compelling in its simplicity. Really recommended!

₊˚ʚ 🌱 ₊˚✧ ゚. THE CUTEST, COZIEST MANGA EVERRRRR.

I can't believe I took so long in reading Our Dining Table? Oh my god. This story is spectacular from start to finish. It's only one volume so the story has a beginning and an ending in this sole volume. So, if you do not have a lot of time on reading 8-10 volumes to get to that happily ever after, this is the perfect manga for you.

This story follows a salaryman who has trouble eating with others because of a bad childhood experience. So, he prefers to eat alone... though that ends up making him very lonely. One day he meets a guy and his younger brother and they ask him to teach them how to cook! The way that they include Yutaka into their lives is wonderful and you will cry because of all the emotions. Yutaka is a very lonely man and just seeing him smile with Minoru and Tane IS SO PRECIOUS!!! ♡

It also has a romance and it's super sweet and adorable. The softest ever. I seriously see myself going back to reread this manga many times in the future just to feel everything once again. It's a story about food, companionship, loneliness, grief, and love! It's really soooo very good and I recommend it to everyone who adores those themes or just really, a good FCKING STORY.

the sweetest, the cutest BL (m/m) oneshot manga about family (both found and blood-related), it's about food and the joy of eating with your loved ones, it's beautifully drawn story featuring the sweetest kid and a lovely romance between a salaryman and a college student (both of them are 23 years old).

Highly recommend! Bring joyful energy into your 2020 reading life!

This was super cute and so wholesome, I love it so much. The characters are so pure and honest that you wish they were real. And the relationship was great, and the progression of it was done really well. Also, the father and brother were amazing because they were so amusing and provided a lot of relief to the sad moments. I wish that all of these characters were real because they all give you a warm feeling. This book talks about grief, feeling empty and not belonging, how to move on, death, family, and love. And the art was so amazing, I especially loved the art when Yutaka was telling Minoru his family story. Overall, a very sweet and heartwarming story that any romance and graphic novel lovers should read.

Sooooo adorable and sweet I am beaming like a doofus still

I wish there was more!! And my only complaint is that more female characters should have been in the narrative, this was kinda a sausagefest. Yeah it's a m/m manga but c'mon, only two (three if we include one panel) women are featured! And one of them is dead before the story begins.

That said, this was a delightful story of two men finding love and happiness after so much pain. I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

This is one of the sweetest and cutest manga out there. Yutaka is a lonely office worker; one afternoon while he's eating on his own in a park a little kid befriends him and has some of his onigiri. A few days later, they meet again, and this time the little boy, Tane, is accompanied by his big brother, Minoru. Tane tells him how much he loved Yutaka's onigiri and Minoru invites him to their house, to teach them how to make them.

This is the start of a beautiful friendship - Yutaka, Minoru and Tane all found each other at the perfect time. They all lost important things in their lives, but this tiny found family is just perfect for them.

A soft, sweet, single volume love story. Yutaka is a young office worker who eats store bought food alone in a park every day- until Tane, a boisterous little boy, runs up and cutely talks him out of half his lunch. His much older brother Minoru scolds Tane, but the pair end up inviting Yukata over to teach them how to make onigiri. This connection ending up being exactly the kind of nourishment all of these lonely boys desperately needed.
