Well....I won't be going to any carnivals this summer, that's for sure! Cue the creepy music and maniacal laughter. Bwahahaha! Okay, it's not that super scary so don't be afraid to read Killer Exposure but it does have some alarming moments. And a bit of spine-tingling and gasp-out-louding ones. The kind of suspense where you think you know what's going to happen next but you're wrong half the time. And when you're right the other half it's really, really bad. :-) And the ending? I can't even...comfort chocolate recommended.

But what really bedazzled me was the raw and gritty sucker punch of the secret baby trope. I'm not a huge fan of the whole secret baby theme, though I know other readers love it. I find it hard to relate to a heroine who has deliberately hidden a child from its father so an author has to work some real magic to get me on board. All I can say is Jessica Patch must have a fairy wand because I totally lost myself in this aspect of the romance.

Locke is gutted when he finds out about the baby. He's running on fear and anger for a good portion to the story. And the emotions are palpable. I ached for him! And when he meets his child for the first time I just....tissue alert!

And just because I felt everything right along with Locke, Patch still managed to soften my heart towards Greer. Yes, what she did was wrong but I could see where she was coming from and how she messed things up in her mind and came up with the idea that Locke was better off not knowing. And when these two finally come together it's all fireworks and toe-curls and me cheering myself hoarse from rapturous delight!

Phew, reader conflict crisis averted. I gobbled this romantic suspense up in one sitting!

'He was pretty sure he didn't need a Post-it note to remind him a killer was coming. With a vengeance. With death on his mind. And he was laser-focused.'

Greer Montgomery is a crime scene photographer for a small town when she witnesses a murder at a carnival in her town. She fights with the murderer but he gets away. But he keeps coming back to finish the job. Greer is a single mother to a 9 month old baby girl. A daughter she never told the baby's father about. Now Locke Gallager is in town chasing a series of storms. He's never been afraid of the deadly storms, but he's afraid for Greer's life. Greer, her police department, and Locke are trying to solve this crime but are coming up empty handed at every turn. The killer could be anyone, but he's on a mission: take Greer out. Can Locke keep her safe?

Jessica Patch is in fine form here. Her characters are fine tuned and full of depth and the setting is super well done. A killer on the loose, trying at every turn to murder a woman and a batch of killer storms barreling toward them. Suspense galore! I loved every single minute. Her spiritual theme here is very well done, too. One that we all face from time to time. Well done! Highly recommended.

Great story that kept me wondering "who done it" the whole way. This author writes amazing, fast paced action stories and this is one that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Past relationships, mistakes and more are issues the main characters try to handle. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.

I am never disappointed by this author and this has been by far my favorite LIS. Motherhood, secrets, and forgiveness tangle into the web woven of murder and deception, as Greer and Locke have to face their past to have their brilliant futures.

This author does a wonderful job of pushing the suspense to the very last page and just when you think you know who the killer really is, she changed it up and shocks you completely, like seriously I finally thought I had it figured out and then BAM a storm. I love the research done for the Storm definition and descriptions that must have been done.

The reminder that truly we aren’t going to be our parents or have someone behave just like one is a reminder to all readers. The fear of boxing someone in was what was the undoing to agree but she faced her fears and found her faith to be stronger. Sometimes we don’t understand as humans but on a faith level it all makes sense. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one!!

A visiting carnival, spring storms that turn deadly, and a murder on the loose combine for an intense, don’t-wanna-put-it-down story from Jessica R. Patch. And I haven’t even mentioned the baby!

Killer Exposure manages to throw plenty of suspect guesses at readers (with the many carnival workers, questionable characters are aplenty). So much so, that when the identity of the person is revealed, it comes as a complete shock.

Patch weaves an intense nail biter with the more personal and spiritual issues that Greer and Locke are struggling with. You’ll be kicking yourself if you miss this book, folks.

Plus, I’m hoping we got a hint of what might be next from Patch (please let it be Hollister!).

This may be my favorite Jessica R. Patch book to date. It was jam packed with action throughout the entire book. I am worn out. I enjoyed the plot and all of the characters. Especially baby Lin. I never guessed the bad guy. The author always has an amazing inspirational message and this one was awesome. I highly recommend to all romantic suspense readers.

What a wild ride! Jessica's writing always keeps you guessing. I love the creepy scene of the carnival and all the secrets it keeps. The storm chasing is an adrenaline rush. I also enjoyed the tie-ins from characters in her previous series. This book is worth your time to read it.

I love a Jessica Patch book. They are always well written and this one proves true. Its a story about second chance love. I love that she makes Greer Montgomery have fears and a very strong personality. I love Locke Gallagher. He's ADHD but he has a strong sense of write & wrong. I love the pace that Jessica sets in the story. There is more than 1 mystery going on and its set with a carnival. There is also storm chasing tied into the story that adds to the action in the story. I like how Jessica uses Greer's fear as part of the story. For we all have fears and its good to see it. I found this story fast paced and fascinating. I found it hard to put down. But who the bad guy is will be the biggest surprise. I look forward to Jessica's next book.

KILLER EXPOSURE by Jessica R. Patch is a wonderful inspirational second chance for love romance full of suspense and edge of your seat action. The author has written a book you will not want to put down.

KILLER EXPOSURE is the story of Greer Montgomery, sheriff deputy and crime scene photographer for Goldenville, Alabama, and Locke Gallagher, photographer and storm chaser. They had been in love once. With different ideas on family life or the fact to have a family at all, Greer had called it off. She had came home to help her ailing Mother when she found out she was pregnant. Instead of saddling Locke with a child he never wanted, taking away his desire for adventure and having him only to leave both her and her daughter like her Father did, she kept both her pregnancy and the fact that Locke had a daughter a secret. That is until Locke showed up in town unannounced.

About the time Locke showed up in connection to his grant work on weather and storms, the carnival came to town. It was just prior to the opening when murders started. Because of those murders and her investigation, Greer started being attacked and threatened. Each time her life was in grave danger, it seems that Locke was the one to save her for certain death.

Were the murders and the attempts on Greer’s life connected? Can Greer get over the fear of abandonment created by the harsh and sudden departure of her Father from her life? Can Locke who feels that all he is good for is to disappoint those that he loves in his life come to realize that he has more good qualities than bad? Can one little girl wrap their hearts tightly together as a family as well as she brightened their day with her smile? Can Greer and Locke forgive, forget and love again? How many secrets will they find among the carnival folks during their investigation? Can they find out who the carnival serial killer is over the past few years? And before he succeeds in his threats on Greer?

Jessica R. Patch has written a wonderful story that shows that love can conquer and survive everything thrown at it if we allow God in the mixture. The author gives us insight into God’s love for all his children through references to the bible and by example. KILLER EXPOSED is an inspirational suspense book that will definitely leave you feeling good after reading it as well as heading to check out other books by this wonderful author. I highly recommend this book and this author!

I haven’t been reading a terrible lot of suspense lately, but I always have to make an exception for Jessica R. Patch’s newest books! I’m one of those people who spends the book trying to guess “whodunit” and Ms. Patch is one of the few authors that stumps me almost every time! I don’t know how she does it, but I rarely finish her books with the “I was right!” excitement. It’s always the “wait, how did I miss that?” question, instead. Which to me is one of the marks of a very well-written mystery.
I’m not typically a huge fan of “hidden children” stories, but she pulled it off really well. I had to laugh, at one point a character actually comments about how the story is seeming an awful lot like a daytime soap! Which was just perfect for that character and the story. There were so many red herrings and other things going on, sometimes my brain was racing a bit to keep up! I so enjoy how realistic her characters are, too! Like the soap opera comment, they say what I’m pretty sure I would be thinking, if I was in their shoes. It was really interesting to read the story from Locklin’s perspective, as he’s ADHD, and get a glimpse inside his brain. It helped me understand better what some of my friends might be feeling or going through, which is really cool. I love that her characters have quirks and flaws like the rest of us. I also really appreciate how she’s continuing to tie in people from previous books, though I sometimes have to wrack my brain to figure out which book they’re from.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy mysteries that leave you guessing and characters that grip your heart strings!

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Killer Exposure. I really enjoy Jessica's books. She has a special way with suspense. This story is well written, action packed, and is appropriate for this season of storms and tornadoes we are having. I know you are going to love it.

Deputy Greer Montgomery is a single mother of a baby girl. She works as a crime scene photographer but she also works as a photographer. She is out in the middle of a field taking pictures for the chamber of commerce. The Stellar Entertainment is setting up a week-long spring fest. She clicks a few photos before the storm starts to move in. She wanders through the employee's trailers when she witnesses a murder. The killer gets away but she chases him and ends in hand to hand combat. She is rescued by her ex, the father of her secret child. Can she keep him from finding out about the baby? He had told her he didn't want kids. Why should she worry?

Storm chaser Locklin Gallagher, Locke is out taking photos of the storm moving in when he sees a man chasing a woman. He steps in to help and finds the only woman he has ever loved. He's not sure why she broke his heart but figures it's his fault because he lost control one night. He's over her though, right? When he tries to protect her he finds that the reason she left him was a little girl named after him. Can he keep his two girls safe and find a way to make them his family?

A journey of restoration and forgiveness as they struggle to survive the killer. God has a plan for this little family; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life.

This was a novel that I had a hard time convincing myself to read after reading the author's "background." I thought, getting it in the "paperback, keep as long as you need to" pile at the library that it was simply a mystery. It wasn't till I read the "dear reader" section at the back of the book when I got it home that I realized that it is in the category of "Christian fiction".

Now that would usually turn me off, but I decided to try to read some of it anyway. I was expecting it too cloying in terms of preachiness, but on that I was wrong. It had some talk about "Jesus as one's personal savior" stuff but it was only a total of maybe 10 pages out of the whole 282-page book. The rest of it was about the struggles of a young woman with scars from an unfortunate childhood having lost her father from her life at a young age, and her fear and guilt and inability to trust anybody else, including the father of her own baby.

That, along with the fact that there is a murderer loose in her fairly small town, with her baby daddy reappearing, and working to find out who the murderer is makes up the bulk of the book Would I have preferred it not be quite so "Christian"...yes, kind of, but it was supposed to be the story of this young woman and that is who the woman was. And the religious was NOT the hell fire and damnation type that I was forced to deal with growing up but rather a picture of God as a loving entity that her and others and that allows her to have support in her life, so generally, it was far less irritating than I expected it to after just reading the "author's notes" at the end.

Jessica Patch knows how to spin a tale which will leave you dizzy and looking over your shoulder. This book is one of those stories. It is packed full of action, suspense, drama, frightening tornado storms with thunder and lightning, and a scary guy dressed in black! Plus, a little bit of wonderful romance to top it all off.
I used to love carnivals, the fun rides, and food, but this book has me rethinking if I want to step into those big tops.
Jessica Patch does such a wonderful job in putting twists and turns in this story, you never really know who the bad guy is until the very end. I love mystery and suspense, and solving crimes, but she has such a skill that I was totally thrown off and when I got to the “who done it” part I was taken by surprise. This to me, is what makes a fantastic author!
I also loved reading about the back story between Greer and Locke, it made this story have depth and conflict. I also adored reading about Lin and the love both Greer and Locke have for her, how they each want to protect her.
I was given this book by the author and all the opinions are my own!
I highly recommend picking up this book. However, I need to warn you, you might not want to read it at night, you could have bad dreams with creepy clowns!

5 stars or more!!
This story is full of adventure and action around every bend.
From storm chasing ( which I find very exciting) to everything else going on I felt like I was on the chase myself. I even wanted to look over my shoulder a time or two.
Do you ever feel like something is not right or someone is watching you? I have felt like this a time or two. It's this weird sensation that you have so I felt just like Greer at times.
I loved loved this story because it kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Greer would mind herself but alas not possible!!
I love Greer but you just can't do it all on your own!! I am like Greer in this way. Too proud to ask for help.
Sometimes we just need someone to lean on.
Locke was something else. I want his job! I think it would be exciting!!
But I also would be just a tad bit upset if I found out what he did!! Oh my!!
If you love an exciting adventures then this is the story for you.
These characters are just awesome!! I hated to say goodbye to them!!
I just love what if's! Sometimes it is fun to imagine if things were different than what they turn out to be!! My son and I love to play this game!

One thing I can say about this author is she never disappoints. Whenever I pick up one of her books I know I am in for a wild ride. That was very much the case with this book. It has you guessing every which was trying to figure out what's going to happen next and leaves you guessing to the last possible second. I will say this I think I will never look at another carnival the same way after reading this book.... With out giving anything away there is a moment in the book where two characters have a heart to heart and it really moved me, it felt so personal. I really enjoyed how this author took two very broken characters and made them feel real. I really enjoyed how strong willed and a fighter Greer was but also how vulnerable she could be. I have to say it wasn't like there was just one hero in this story but a few. This book is a good clean read, grab it you will not be disappointed just be ready to not want to put the book down.

Let me start with the feelings I had at the end of this book and I think that will sum up my views of Jessica Patch's newest novel, Killer Exposure. WHAT? HOW? REALLY? WHOA, TOTALLY DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!!!

Greer, a crime scene photographer, witnesses a murder at the local carnival. It becomes quickly apparent that someone wants her dead and is willing to go to any length to see that through. Locke, a storm chaser and Greer's ex, comes to her aid. In the midst of all this, Locke discovers Greer kept a big secret from him. She never told him he had a daughter. As I have come to expect from a Jessica Patch novel, she knows how to draw a reader in with complex characters who are in life or death situations who are also dealing with their pasts, learning to forgive themselves and others, and developing relationships with one another.

You got me again Ms. Patch with your action-packed, page turning suspense that just kept me hooked until the end. Can't wait for the next one!

I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! Get ready for a wild ride--this carnival is a killer. If you're looking for a book crammed full of action and suspense with a second-chance romance, you found it. The main characters, Greer and Locke, are very well developed and likable. The emotions that they experience pulled me into the story. I enjoyed reading how God worked in their lives to heal past hurts. One of my favorite lines is "I do life with my church family. I do not do church." The killer's identity was a complete surprise to me. I always enjoy Jessica R. Patch's books and plan to read everything that she publishes. I highly recommend this book to romantic suspense readers. You're in for a treat!

Greer Montgomery is working a few jobs to care for her daughter. Thinking she is doing everything right until the day Locke Gallagher comes back into the picture. He was leaving for a career in storm chasing with his future ahead of him. Greer has been hiding a secret, and she didn't want to tie a man down that didn't want children.

I loved this story with everything going on, with edge of your seat suspense. I couldn't figure out who done it. I guessed a few times, but I was wrong. I guess you will just have to pick this one up to see what happens.

I have heard being swept up in a whirlwind of love. In this story it sure was that and more.

From start to finish this story kept me on the edge of my seat. This one was a “twister” of a story. From a struggling single mom literally running into the father of her child in the middle of a carnival filled with lies, greed, deceit and murder then throw in a serial killer and stormy weather you know it is going to be bad. Only God’s love, faith and forgiveness can provide the strength everyone well need to overcome all the fear, danger, destruction and pain each will face.

First off – I adore storm chasers and loved the inclusion in this story. The weather additions just add to the entertainment of this story – besides the fact that you are driven crazy with wondering WHO is doing this! Very well written suspense and mystery with the good old “whodunnit” moments at every turn. You won’t guess it! It is a well done “secret baby” trope, too – she pulled it off nicely. This is another fabulous story from this author. Bookshelf keeper!

Locke Gallagher is a storm chaser and is out getting some pictures of the storms for his web site and that’s when he runs into a woman being attacked. Locke steps into help and is shocked to see it’s his past love Greer Montgomery. Greer witnessed a murder in progress and now the killer is bent on ending Greer’s life but Locke is committed to protecting her even though she has been with holding a very big secret. Can Locke and Greer survive a killer and possibly have a future?

This is Jessica R Patch's best book yet. It's easy to read and hard to put down. Many twists and turns. Set in a traveling carnival ,a small town in Alabama, you would think this would be full of good times. That's not the case. There is a murderer running loose and the carnies are not his only victims, throw in bad weather and tornadoes. Will anyone survive this mayhem?

Exceptional story!!! I thought that I ACTUALLY had this one figured! I was so excited....and I was so wrong! Sigh.

Are you looking for intrigue? Mystery? Suspense? God's truth written in beautiful, completely relatable ways? Look no further! (Except to all of this author's books!)

I struggled with this review simply because of being unable to sum up how great this book is. The mystery and romance are phenomenal but beneath all of that is a deep understanding of the struggle with ADHD and the impact it has on a life.

Greer Montgomery moved in with her mother due to illness and then discovered she was pregnant. Much to the father's surprise. Locke came to town to take photos for his job, coolest job ever! Storm chaser!

Can he overcome his bitterness and can Greer overcome her fear of a past repeated? And all if this is going on during a murder investigation! Faith, fear, truth and lies all wrapped up into one amazing novel. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
