Katie Flynn was born in Norwich and attended Norwich High School, where she was extremely happy and extremely undistinguished. Published at the tender age of eight, in Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories, she joined a Writers’ Circle as an adult, publishing short stories, articles, etc; only turning to novels in 1971 because the postal strike cut off her main source of income!
At first she wrote under several different names – Judith Saxton, Judy Turner, Lydia Balmain, Judith Arden – but her Katie Flynn books were a delight to write and proved far more popular than she had dreamed. She has now published nearly ninety novels, twenty-seven of which are Flynns. Her most recent titles are: Lost Days of Summer and Christmas Wishes.

Dana is the beloved daughter of travellers Colleen and Shane Quinn, but the family don't find acceptance for their lifestyle so her parents move back to Ireland her Dana remains to do her bit for her country.
She joins up with the WAAF and makes two great pals Patty and Lucy and even finds herself torn between two men.
But as the war moves on and she receives dreadful news from Ireland she discovers dark secrets about her past and also how strong her love for her family and friends can be.
This was a wonderful, heart warming wartime tale and really looking forward to the next in the series.

The story takes place during the war, Dana a young traveller girl decides to stay and help by joining the Waaf, makes friends with 2 girls, she decides to not reveal her background to others, for fear of discrimination. But bumps into a girl who knows her previously, the rest of the story is about two men she likes , but will she pick either of them. Humorous parts and a nice read.

I love this story of Katie Flynn
I loved how the main character chanced everything and decided to help in the war effort.
I was shocked to read what would happen in this book.
But I had thought about what would happen to a character who disappeared.
This really got me gripped and I will look forward to reading the next one.

Really enjoyed this book, after reading a couple of reviews I expected to find the start slow, but I didn’t. It’s only took me so long to read due to work commitments. I’m looking forward to the next one.

It's a wonderful story set in the horrors of the blitz. About a young woman finding her identity while doing her bit for the country. It has romance, friendship, tragedy and hope.
I enjoyed reading this story because it was something different and intrugueing to read.

Another brilliant book loved reading danas story and finding out all about Pete and the way hr treated dana was so infurateing its also a prett accurate way of describing how travellers are treated so shes dealt with a number of important topics but in a really good way as part of the story

This is the 5th book I've read by this author and it really seems to be that if you've read 1 you've read then all . The friendship,romance ,tragedy and the mean girl is a reoccurring theme . Not enough substance ,I won't be reading any more .

Usually I enjoy novels from the era this one is set in. This one though was slow to get into and I couldn’t help but have an uneasy feeling about the character Pete, there was something about him. Dana and Patty seemed lovely girls.
I won’t be rushing to read another one in the series.

I’m glad I stuck with this book I found it hard to get into till about halfway through then it got going and was enjoyable

This is the first in a new series, this is Dana's story, a traveller from Liverpool who stays in Liverpool when war breaks out and becomes a WAAF. Loved it and am looking forward to reading book 2.

I enjoyed this one - very hard to put down. I wish it had ended differently, but I could imagine myself there with the characters. The sequel looks good too.
