Is winning everything when it comes to your heart?

Jamie Matheson, one of five Matheson brothers, is the only one left who hasn’t found his perfect life partner, and the future prospects don't look good. Still, he’s a Matheson, and he can't let his doubts show. He charges into his company’s annual advertising campaign competition with bravado to spare and winning on his mind. When the company randomly selects Angelo, an unknown junior member of the art department, as his partner for the event, Jamie doesn’t realize how quickly the choice will change his life.

Angelo Moretti is the oldest son of a modest Italian-American family operating a successful family restaurant in Dallas. He loves his family, but he’s never come out to them. Angelo’s soured on the corporate structure after a past harassment experience and merely wants to keep his head down, earn a solid place in the art department, and plan for the future. He fears a catastrophe when he’s matched with Jamie Matheson, pampered son of advertising business royalty, for the company’s annual competition. Then he gets to know the charming, handsome, and talented sides of his partner.

Faced with no alternative choice but to reluctantly join forces, Jamie and Angelo find a way to be winners and work together both in the office and outside as well. The future looks tremendously bright until a power-hungry executive rises up to rattle their winning streak.

Winner is a 54,000-word gay romance with enemies-to-lovers and coming out themes, a whole lot of family, and steamy scenes. It is the fourth book in the series The Mathesons and can be read as a standalone story but is best as a follow-up to First, Cowboy, and Hero.

Just wanna start off by saying "I Love this Series!" Getting to know the Matheson family has been a privilege and a joy. This book was a bit of hard reading at first. Not due to anything concerning it, but because I have been in a reading slump for 2 weeks now and it was hard going at first. I am happy to say that "Winner" has definitely pulled me out of my slump! I loved Angelo and Jamie so much. I especially connected with Angelo and he felt very real to me. I also loved Angelo's brother Tony.. he was a hoot. Loved this story and this series!!

It took me a long time to read this, but it wasn’t because I didn’t like it. I’ve been visiting family so I haven’t had much time to read. I’m sorry to reach the end of this series because it has been so much fun meeting the Mathesons.

A random drawing put them together, and they fell in love

The Mathesons have four gay sons, and this is the fourth installment in their stories of meeting their partners. This is the second of the twins, Jamie, who has left the Mathesons' remarkable advertising agency to work with a different group in Dallas. He's proud that he applied and was selected to work there as a copywriter. For an annual advertising campaign competition, he's paired with Angelo, who is a junior member of the art department.

Angelo is apprehensive about Jamie and wished not to be paired with him. Rumors suggest that he used his family influence to secure the job with the Dallas firm and is a spoiled playboy. However, Jamie insists he submitted his application without family assistance and did not discuss it with his family until after he got the job.

While Angelo and Jamie work on the competition, they clearly hit it off, and Jamie is quick to accept Angelo's brother as a spokesman for the beverage they are pitching. Working closely for long hours, the two young men develop an attraction... but Angelo is not out to his large Italian family. They eventually meet Jamie at the restaurant they run in Dallas, and they are impressed.

Declan also shares the story of Angelo coming out at a family gathering and receiving applause and total acceptance.

There are some familiar and new themes in the wonderful writing of Declan Rhodes. The new themes include how Jamie secured his job, the reluctance to date someone who is not out, and the ups and downs of working with the agency. Angelo has also experienced a previous case of workplace misconduct.

This is a satisfying and beautifully written book about the four brothers, filled with engaging stories about the Mathesons and their advertising business. There are some missed spelling errors and wrong word choices, but they do not detract from the story of overcoming obstacles to long-lasting love and creating loving families for both men.

Sweet Ending

This is the last of a nice series centered on a family of six children of a major advertising mogul--four of whom are gay and each of those gets his own book. This one is about Jamie, twin of Benji who held court in the previous book. But the whole family and various partners are interspersed herein, especially in an over-the-top Epilogue which puts it all right.

Jamie is on his own in Dallas as a copywriter in a hot agency where he is subject of many rumors that he is there only because of his family connections--rumors of which he is unaware. He is paired up in a contest with Angelo Moretti, a native of Dallas whose family owns one the city's best Italian restaurants. Angelo despises Jamie because of all the rumors--but doesn't get to know him before they are thrown together as creative partners. Jamie knows nothing about Angelo until they meet.

When they get to know each other, and each other's sexuality, we have a sweetly unfolding but not uncomplicated story that brings in both families, including Angelo's snarky little brother Tony and Jamie's older brother Mason and his twin Benji who hep accelerate points in the plot.

This book was a bit less angsty that the previous three in terms of the relationship that develops between Jamie and Angelo, although there is a good deal of self-defeating and self-serving on both their parts. But the Epilogue brings it all together, and in the end, this works nicely and sweetly.

We Will Win Together

Jamie is a copywriter for and advertising firm. He isn't afraid of self promotion.
Angelo is a talented artist for the same agency.I

They are paired together for the annual advertising campaign. All they know about each other is what they've heard through rumors which have circulated around the office.

They prove to be a winning team and all is going well. One comes out of the closet, they meet their respective parents, and attraction deepens into a loving relationship. All the vs could fall apart when sexual harassment in the office threatens to destroy both their lives, professionally and personally.

I received an ARC from the author and purchased my own copy. I'm positive you will enjoy this selection from Declan Rhodes!

Winning pair

Jamie Matheson & Angelo Moretti start off as sort of enemies, well Angelo listened to gossip about Jamie but once they start working together Angelo sees the real Jamie. This is a sweet, sexy, very low angst story with loving families brought together and of course the other Matheson brothers. It concludes with an epilogue which ties all the previous books together! Great work Declan Rhodes.

Let’s hear it for the Boys!

What a great series about a fascinating family. Just enough twists and turns and the wonderful love that developed for all of the brothers.
Winner was a perfect conclusion. Angelo and Jamie were most definitely Winners!

Thanks Declan. So looking forward to reading more from you.

Angelo & Jaime

Jaime is overly confident at work and does not realize the rumors circulating about him at work. Angelo is a quiet artist, but I wish the confrontational part near the end would have gone differently.

This book has an outstanding beginning but WHAT AN ENDING!
Finally we get the other twin’s story. Jamie has been so instrumental in the previous stories of the Matheson men. I’m glad he finally gets his HEA. BAM, before all that we have a spectacular opening in chapter 1. Oh. My…and Jamie can’t even remember his name!
Jamie left the family advertising business in California and New York to go out on his own and got a job as a newbie ad man in Texas of all places. He’s doing well, but is hoping to wow his bosses in this year’s competition. He’s paired with Angelo who apparently has a chip on his shoulder or downright doesn’t like Jamie. Which is it? And why?
Angelo is in the art department at Star One Advertising in Dallas, TX. He’s quietly reserved and in the closet. When the names are drawn for the competition, he’s praying that he’s not paired with Jamie. So of couse, he gets Jamie. This could either be really good or really bad.
There is sexual harrassment, hanky-panky, good food, loving family members and brothers beyond compare. Loved this book whether it’s the ending to the series or there is more to come. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it is recommended for readers who enjoy M/M romance with explicit scenes tastefully done.

The reader has been taken on a journey into the lives of the four Matheson brothers and now with Jamie's story we've come to the end. Jamie meets his advertising match in Angelo when these two make up one of eleven teams competing for a cherry assignment. These two at first clash over individual techniques of approach for the competition but find their groove in work and in each other's lives. Each seeks family help and advice and we reconnect with Matheson members and are introduced to Angelo's loving Sicilian family. Angelo's younger brother Tony is a breath of fresh air and has a maturity beyond his years when consulting and consoling with Angelo. Oh I can't forget Angelo's mother who is one intense mom. Her penchant for jumping to conclusions is both funny and endearing. The one thorn in both their sides is as prickly as any pear and ultimately deserves his just desserts. And in the epilogue all are "winners". A fine ending to a wonderful series. This review is my own honest and voluntary opinion for the ARC I received.

Probably not my favorite book of the series. I never really trusted Jamie; he felt a little too shallow, full of himself. As the title of the book, the story focuses on winning: winning the company competition, winning Angelo's heart, and Jamie never seemed to stop and think, spend time analyzing his feelings and those of the people surrounding him.

Furthermore, I didn't like how the author dealt with the very serious subject of harassment at the workplace. Given that this book follows the same structure as the previous 3 stories, the moment of crisis happens around 80% of the book, but if you have to solve an issue that refers only to the relationship between the two MCs, 20% may be sufficient, but this is way too short to deal with the aftermath of harassment, lack of trust and support by your partner especially when this is the second time around for the victim.

With this book, the series ends, and it feels like that 4 books were perhaps too much. As far as I see it, 3 is the magic number for series.

Winner brings us to the last Matheson brother, Jamie, and his happy ever after. I've enjoyed each couple in this series, and I love that we get to revisit with them through crossovers into the other books while each still stands on its own. Jamie and Angelo is a mixed bag of romance tropes. We get a coming out story for Angelo, and a little bit enemies to lovers and office romance for the pair. What these two know about each other can be summed up to what they've heard through the office rumor mill, so they both have a lot to learn once they actually have to communicate. Like the rest of the series, this one is low on angst and high on entertaining characters and witty dialogue. One of my favorite things is how well-rounded even the secondary characters are. Every one adds a little something to the story, something that has made this author a go-to for me in the genre. I can't wait to see what he's going to do next.

You just can't go wrong with Declan Rhodes. I was so excited to finally get to know Jamie better. He's trying to stand on his own in Texas; away from his overwhelming family and make a name for himself on his own merits. He's a bit brash and cocky but he's also a great guy. Angelo also comes from a large family with a mamma that wants to know all the details of her family's lives. Angelo's brother Tony is wonderful, doling out wisdom and unconditional love. Jamie and Angelo take a bit of time getting to a relationship. It was nice to see friendship build along with the desire. I liked that Jamie takes steps to find Angelo and give a sincere apology for his major screwup. I liked it even more when he takes steps to fix the trouble at work without expecting anything for it. Loved the epilogue.

👍. A well-written office romance for Jamie Matheson, one of the younger brothers in this MM romance series. His project partner Angelo was the more appealing to me of the two heroes; he's not smug or overconfident and has a great, close relationship with his family. Jamie starts as a braggart who inspires contempt and cutting office rumors about his undeserved advancement thanks to his family's influence in the industry. He has to prove himself a winner on his own merits. He was not my favorite brother in the series, but it's a good romance with some heat and its share of warm, family moments.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Rumors, misunderstandings. real connections, learning trust and to love create a strong story-line. I enjoyed the story-line and founds it creative and well developed. Both of our MC's are great characters and so much more than the personality that they project. The writing flowed and the plot kept me reading until the last page.

Angelo & Jaime have heart and lots to give and are definitely not shallow. Their connection is steamy and i liked how their personalities played off each other. Loved the epilogue!

This is the fourth book in the Matheson's series and it can be read as a stand-alone. However this is a wonderful series and i would recommend that you treat yourself to the other three books.

Winner is a great addition to The Mathesons series and I really enjoyed it. Even though I like the other brothers from the previous books more I do think that Jamie is intriguing and by the end of the story I liked him a lot. Angelo is a sweetheart and I love his family, especially his brother Tony. Angelo and Jamie are an interesting couple and I like how their relationship develops. They have a few issues to deal with, there is some angst, a big misunderstanding and a perfect ending. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

A nice close to the saga of the Matthesons

In Winner Declan uses a different trope - enemies to lovers. It is well developed and the main characters are thoroughly likable, but flawed enough to produce tension in the plot.

Jamie is very full of himself as an outgoing self made scion of the Mattheson family. Angelo is an introverted artist. A random draw pairs them as partners on an ad campaign. Angelo's assumptions and Jamie's obliviousness of the office rumor mill set them at odds. The developing romance is well crafted. Tony, Angelo's brother is a great supporting character in the story.

I received an ARC of the book. This is an honest, unbiased review.

I've loved every book in this series, and the ending to this one was both excellent and perfect.

Jaime really lucked out to be paired up with Angelo, and he knew it (for the most part). I loved how unexpectedly wise Tony was to help Angelo try to look past all of the rumors that surrounded Jaime. And once he gave Jaime a chance, seeing them work together was awesome.

The Mathesons have been a fun journey that I will definitely re-read many times.

Jamie and Angelo worked for Star One, an advertising agency. They were paired together for an office contest. Neither really cared for each other until they started working together. After that it was a fast ride with both coming from large families an a strong Collision with love.
This is the 4th and final book for the Matheson family and it ends beautifully and with a resounding cheer from all the families.

This is Jamie's story. Angelo and Jamie had a few bumps a long the way but this is a great read. The characters are wonderful and the story moves along and before I knew it their story was getting a HEA.
