A teacher and pilot, Ana Masterson, is identified stateside as a minor telepath. She is hired by VESPER to find a mindreacher and teamed with elite warrior and former SEAL, Major Jon Coulter, USMC. Despising anyone psychic, Coulter reluctantly follows orders to protect Masterson and report to his superiors how telepathy may be used in combat. Supplied with the latest in espionage gadgets, including embedded nano-size satellite tracking transceivers, their search begins in Johannesburg, South Africa. Not wanting to be identified, every terrorist cell places Masterson and Coulter on their hit list.

Readers will find it difficult to distinguish fact from fiction in this Indiana Jones style of friendly beginnings filled with memorable dueling characters, suspenseful changes in venue, exotic scenes, epic actions and a chart busting climax.

I'm generally an adventure junky. At first there was a lot of jargon and acronyms that I thought would slow my reading but after the first few chapters this fell off and the meat of the story began. I was engaged all the way to the last page and left wanting Baron to finish a sequel already!
I love the main character Ana and enjoyed learning more about her power with her.
I really appreciated the authors obvious first-hand experiences in the countries visited in the book, making visualizing them effortless.
I can't wait to meet new mindreachers and see a few loose ends tied up!

A novel to enjoy- and to make you think!
I received ‘Mindreacher’ as a gift.
Every so often a novel comes along purporting to be fiction and yet leaves the reader with a gnawing doubt if this is not actually happening. That what is in these pages could be going on now. The background is so meticulously researched. The government agencies, whether or not they all exist in the real world, are entirely plausible. I was taken in and captivated by this story.
In many respects, this is a book of three stories in one volume, melded together to create an enjoyable and scarily credible psychological thriller. In one we are given the intimate workings of government and of intelligence agencies. The author’s own knowledge and experience is present in abundance to turn the pages at a fast pace. Then there is travelogue through South East Asia with captivating pen pictures of religious ritual and colourful events. Finally, there is the action and adventure story promised us in the blurb – fully integrated and capturing the exotic scenes through which the characters travel and experience. The characters are believable and the concept is worryingly credible.
The author is a teacher, and once a teacher always a teacher. In several areas the impulse to impart knowledge to the reader within the text of the story tended to slow its pace. It is written by a talented American and in my case read by eyes trained to read in a British classroom. I found I had to come out of the story on a number of occasions to read again sentences the meaning of which I had not readily grasped at the first pass.
A thought provoking enjoyable and entertaining and read that deserves a wide readership.

Irene Baron's 'Mindreacher' proposes a bold theory of using mindreaders to combat global terrorism. The plot involves ethical complications, dense science and weapons of mass destruction.
Accompanying Ana on her journey, I believe I learned the rudiments of self-defense against an assassin. Of course I'd have to enter his mind and close off his vision so he couldn't see me as I returned his attack. I write that last sentence with tongue in cheek but seriously, I very much appreciate the research that went into creating this novel as it adds credibility to its themes.
About a quarter way in, I believe I learned the premise behind the story and momentarily considered attempting motherhood one more time with the intention of raising an empath. This serves to illustrate the power of the written word as I could not put this book down and I don't often respond to books in that way.
I highly recommend Mindreacher as not only a Good Read but also the very promising beginning of what I hope will be a series!

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this amazing book

its quite descriptive in the beginning and can be a bit off putting but on the whole once you get past that this book grips you in a way that makes you believe this is all possible....

mindreacher, could there really be a small number of people who can read minds and find terrorist cells....but these people need to be found and asked if they would help with the search for these terrorists....

but will they want to help as their lives will be changed forever and terrorists will want to kill them or try to get them to work for them...

brilliantly written and cant wait for the next one in this series...

*I received a copy of this book via giveaway, and this is my honest opinion*

It took a minute to get into but once I was in, I was in! This book has me more than excited to see what’s next. The characters were easy for me to feel a connection with. The scenes were set up as if the author was writing whilst in them. The action made this book hard to put down, and the fantasy elements were everything I was hoping for.

Detailed thriller that packs the science and action!

I love the realism and research that went into this book. It's packed with action and its characters are well-drawn. This book has me wondering if the author used to be in special ops :) I like the different use cases that the author thought of for mind reading. If you enjoy action and thrillers or if you're a fellow sci-fi fan, take this book for a ride.

Took a while to get into this novel, but then I started to understand more of this world, completely different than other science fiction thrillers that I have read. If you like science fiction mixed with paranormal mixed with a thriller of a story, than you should try this book. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.
