I listened to this book on audio but there were so many great takeaways, I’m considering re-reading a hard copy so that I can take better notes.

Because I was listening to the majority of it while packing boxes for a move, my 13-year-old daughter was listening to a lot of it along side of me, and she enjoyed it just as much. It also provided great conversational points for us to discuss in real time and I enjoyed hearing her perspective.

I love the positive focus of this book: not berating this generation for their lack of drive or motivation, but considering how we can help set them up for success in the future by acknowledging our responsibility in preparing them for that success.

This book was also helpful in reminding me that even if my child’s future doesn’t look exactly the way I think it should, that does not mean it won’t be successful. We should seek to help our children and their peers identify and develop their individual unique skills and gifts which will best allow them to be a capable, independent adult who makes a difference in their generation.

I’d give it 4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

A guide to assist today’s leaders to transition the reins to true leaders of the next generation!

Doesn’t every generation feel that the next generation is going to be a failure? Or at least that is what I have heard. Yet somehow we always seem to continue down the path. It’s easy to look at the upcoming generation and become worried about what is going to happen in the future. Why passively worry about it when we can actively do something? Jonathan Catherman has given us a simple guide of some thoughts on how we can help young individuals become reader to transition into people of influence. This is a great book for parents, teachers, Sunday school teachers, and workplace leaders. Drawing on real world examples, Catherman shows how this has been overcome in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

This book guides the older generation to mentor the younger generation.He is the founder and director of I M Mentoring Foundation.. He has written 8 books on mentoring. He focuses on 4 principles: build bridges between generations

- practice stewardship before leadership
- live with purpose
His goal is to help the younger generation be successful.

While skills are an asset, the character of a person matters the most. The author hits the nail on the head, " May our ceiling be thier floor." It is up to us as thier guides to provide a firm foundation for the next generation to excel. The interview question to not get hung up on is this, "Describe your strengths and weaknesses." It is important to understand that you have weaknesses to grow. Start off by saying, "I do my best to minimize my weaknesses and maximize my strengths." This is where talents stem.

It's not enough to simply be a leader, but providing leadership is what really makes a difference. Jonathan has a unique way of relating old school ways with new school thinking. His concepts of building bridges between the generations by practicing stewardship, clarifying the differences between talents and strengths, and focusing on purpose is a ground-breaking thought process for working with the next generation.
