To protect them, I'm prepared to take my secret to the grave. But there is someone waiting in the shadows, more than willing to bury me in it.
Born and raised in Texas, C.C. Wood writes saucy paranormal and contemporary romances featuring strong, sassy women and the men that love them. If you ever meet C.C. in person, keep in mind that many of her characters are based on people she knows, so anything you say or do is likely to end up in a book one day.
A self-professed hermit, C.C. loves to stay home, where she reads, writes, cooks, and watches TV. She can usually be found drinking coffee or wine as she spends time with her hubby, daughter, and two beagles.
Gawd, How I've missed C.C.'s storytelling! I forgot how effortlessly she can draw her readers (me) into her characters lives and their story.
Right from the beginning, C.C. had me. (I missed Teri & Zoe's bantering). Zoe's character has evolved since I first met her, and I like where she's going. She's still the strong, sassy woman we first met, but I found her to be more confident in this book. She's learning to trust her feeling towards Mal (since their relationship is still new).
Mal is the perfect partner for Zoe.
Zoe's also learning to control her necromancer powers.
I love the surprising power that Zoe has that had been dormant, and where it came from. This little gem just wanted me to read the story faster to see what would happen next!
Once again, C.C. has written a great story with interesting, entertaining characters.
I really enjoyed this story, and I recommend this book/series!
**This book can be read as a standalone, but "I think" that the reader would enjoy this story a lot more if they have read the previous books and understand the history between Zoe and the supporting characters.**
"An ARC of this book has been provided by the author in exchange for an honest review."
FAB-U-LOUS!! Five stars for the third installment of The Wraith Files. This modern day “Scooby Gang” gets to experience so much adventure with their paranormal discoveries. And all the while, Zoe discovers more and more about herself and her gifts, with her friends’ support, love and protection. And that Mal...he’s so freaking dreamy. He worships the ground Zoe walks on and his devotion is clear as day in any given moment.
I laughed, giggled, smiled - and even gasped, LOUDLY while I was in one of the freezer aisles at Walmart (yes, I’m a multitasker - and when the book is good I take it EVERYWHERE). Anyhoo, Raise the Dead was FAB from start to finish. Some action, adventure and Mal & Zoe finally get some action (bow-chicka-bow-wow)😍.
I’m so in love with this series! It’s a bit lighthearted with a touch of spooky and filled with characters that have so much LIFE. Even the infamous ghost, Teri, is a key character in these stories. The continuous buildup of Zoe’s life, abilities and what looks to be her fate is something i look forward to. With each novel being a standalone the stories are summed up and ended with a for now HEA that lets you enjoy them without feeling on edge. I love that about a series. Sure I love a cliffhanger as much as the next girl, but sometimes I’m just not in the mood.
C.C. Wood delivers characters I could consider friends. Their adventures in this series are some of my favorite to experience.
I enjoyed Raise the Dead very much, even though it took me ages to get back to finishing it—I blame Christmas season, never me!—and its story had everything I loved about it in previous books. The funny quips, the craziness wrapped-up in everydayness, plus the oh-so-casual revelation.
For the first time ever. I have been given an ARC from the lovely CC Wood and she knows how much i LOVE The Wraith Files series by heart.
I understand now why it took CC long to complete this book. Every detail is like a puzzle and i have to reread some of the chapters again to understands completely what in the world is going on.
I try not to give too much hint and spoiler. All i can say is the power that Zoe has is not just stops there. There are more.It has been develop from book 1,2 and now 3. It have attracts someone or something.
This book shows more friendship and love for Zoe, Mal, Teri and the rest of the gang and how strong the bond can be and united like a family.
Conclusions. I loved it all and the plot and the twist. I cry. Yes i cry and i have to stop read at certain chapter for god knows how long because i just cant even take it. It grip my heart deeply. Of course, All good. Thank you CC Wood for another journey of an adventure, mystery and paranormal from The Wraith Files. I cant wait for more of this series and i will wait patiently for how long if its good as this one. I hope it will be a blast! Cheers!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
To say Zoe’s powers go up a notch would be putting it mildly but that is not the only change in Zoe’s life. Her relationship with Mal is ready to go to the next level and thanks to Zoe’s powers, other people are starting to be able to hear her ghost, Teri.
The life of a young girl being held against her will is in the balance and that puts Zoe and her crew in a difficult position and in mortal danger. Even with the seriousness level increasing this story still holds on to its cosy feeling and I think that is because Zoe’s relationships with the people in her life are just as important to the story as the paranormal and mystery aspects of it. The balance is just right.
Raise the Dead was really great fun. I loved danger and romance and that these guys do the right thing rather than the easy thing. There were times when I was on the edge of my seat and other times I swooned because Mal is pretty perfect and he treats Zoe like a Queen.
Paranormal romance is not my usual genre. This is the only series with witches and ghosts that I read and I love it. Raise the Dead is the best book so far in The Wraith Files and I hope the author doesn’t keep us waiting too long for the next instalment in Zoe’s life.
I re-read books 1 & 2 in preparation for Raise the Dead. Plus I needed some Zoe and crazy Teri in my life. Because who doesn't need a pervy ghost like Teri in their life??
You need to read books 1 & 2 before attempting to Raise the Dead. You need to read the backstory of who Zoe is, how she came to be, how she meets Mal and the Boys, and just get introduced to her world.
This picks up right where book 2 ended. And now there's more information coming out about who and what Zoe is, what she can do and why she can communicate with the dead. You learn more about the world around Zoe and how Zoe interacts with it.
I don't want to say more and spoil it so just go read the story!!
Raise The Dead brings a new storyline for our gang of misfits, Mal, Stony, Blaine, Jonelle, Teri, and Zoe. Zoe is in the midst of learning all about her powers when a new foe arises, demanding attention. The action in this one is faster yet just as scary as the other books, with a gradual build-up that reaches a terrifying peak but don't fear. The story finishes with a nice and sweet HEA. Tons of other fun, exciting, scary and serious things happen along the way too for our pals. New characters abound in RTD too. I love how this book has a fresh storyline for the gang, Mal and Zoe's relationship finally gets going, and the action, even as scary as it is at times, is thrilling. I read an arc and willingly posted my review.
My god that was freaking awesome! I cried a couple of times,so be ready. Out of the three books I honestly have to say this one is my favorite. Seeing Zoe grow with her magic and with the relationships around her is amazing, I wont lie though, Teri is still my all time favorite. And her growth over the series is just as amazing and important as Zoe's. I really, really hope there are more adventures for the gang!
Raise the Dead (Wraith Files Series) is the third installment in this captivating series by C.C. Wood. Our heroin, Zoe Thorne has finally found her calling. She helps spirits find peace so they can cross over. With the help of Mal, her friends, and Teri her hilariously resident ghost, Zoe’s life is falling into place. That is until she discovers how strong her powers actually are. Zoe’s newly discovered abilities not only jeopardize her but also those she loves.
C.C. has done a fantastic job with this new installment. I love the chemistry between Mal and Zoe. I am definitely looking forward to seeing their relationship blossom. I also love Teri, the resident ghost. I can’t recall how many times I laughed. But what I am most excited about, is reading how Zoe’s character grows now that she has accepted who she is. She has already come a long way. I can’t wait to read/see how this character grows. I honestly enjoy this series and I highly recommend it.
This series is the first I've read of CC Wood and it's promising!
I'm not alwaya thrilled with Paranormal Romance, but I read it now and then. I like how this one has a combination of fun and terror. I like that it doesn't pretend to be a Paranormal and just have all the smut in it. This one's just had a right amount of everything. The story feels so real that I can feel the horror to my bones. I also like one part that makes me go 'WTAF?' I wanted to throw my phone to the wall. It's just makes you want to read more but also makes you want to savor every moment. Another good thing is that even though it was a series and needs to be read in order but the end of each books isn't a cliffy.
The characters are also very fun to read. They add mystery to the story. I was starting to doubt one person and it just adds so much thrill to it.
This is by far the best from the series and I'm giving this a 5 star.
C.C Woods does it again, in this hilarious ghostly tale of a psychic medium and her “pet”
This is book 3 in the Wraith Files series, and you definitely need to read them in order, so chop chop!
While Don’t Wake the Dead, and The Dead Come Calling are primarily comedies, Raise the Dead takes on a more ominous tone and I’m absolutely here for it.
Zoe has always been able to see and communicate with ghosts, and in this book she learns a little more about herself that takes her and the team on a trip to Austin Texas to meet some witches.
I loved that this book kept me on my toes. As much as I wanted this book to be super predictable (hello, I’m way too attached to these characters for anything bad to befall them!) I was pleasantly surprised to have gone down the path that I did.
I think this may be the last book for the Wraith Files, but I’m praying it’s not. I cannot get enough of Zoe, Teri, and the gang!
In the third installment of the Wraith Files the quirky gang is back. CC Wood will leave the reader in stitches laughing. This series is so much fun, has passion, suspense, action, and secrets. After reading this book I’m definitely doing a reread of the first two because I’m not ready to walk away from these characters and their story line. Zoe has come into her own with a modern fun scooby like gang for adults. I adored this book and can’t wait to see what comes next.
Finally getting a chance to write my review. This was a awesome read. Terrie is my girl and I love her. This series has been my favorite I see dead people (ghost story) read.
So good! Zoe’s powers are growing to an uncontrollable point. What will happen? Will Mal stick around once he learns she lied? And Teri, eeeee I can’t wait to see what happens.
The third installment in the series and oh my stars!!! I love this series and the author tried murdering me with these plot twists.
I'm already dying for book four to see what happens next to Teri, Zoe, Malachi, Stony, Jonelle and team.
I know this review isn't super verbose but I still have a book hangover and can't, fit the life of me, word anything that isn't on the edge of a spoiler.
Love this series! This one was exceptionally good. Amazing storyline, with a bit of everything that I Love. It has romance, mystery, magic , ghost, and humor. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes a!I or any of these things
Pretty good series. I found the characters likable, funny and just easy to read about. There wasn't too much drama and every book resolved it's issue. Still...I don't know, there is something missing. For instance I wished for a little bit more chemestry between Zoe and Mal. I couldn't feel their attraction. I was told it was there. I get that this is more ghost-mystery type of book and the romance is not the main plot. And I was ok with that. I liked how they didn't jump in bed in the first book, but explored their feelings first. But that exploring was lackluster at best. Also the first book started pretty promising with Teri bringing a nice comedic note. It somehow got lost as the series progressed. I get that there was a time in the second book that jokes weren't possible, because of the plot, but in this book I didn't feel it much either.
Anyway, despite all of that, the series showed good friendships, a nice relationship without the man overpowering the woman all the time, funny-pervy ghosts, cool magic and a promise for future books. Because that ending didn't feel like an ending to series.
Raise the dead is so wonderful. I love Zoe and Mal together so much. I could not get enough off this one as we finally discover what Zoe is. Teri is still my favorite ghost. I laughed and had a smile on my face the entire read. I just love the Wraith Files series so much. If you haven't had the chance to binge this series yet, you need to.
Excellent holiday vacation binge read. Yep, all three books in two days (would have been one, but I have to sleep sometime!) Extremely well written, with nice balance of the paranormal, character growth, and enough romance to add spice but not detract from the overall story.
Giving the whole series 5 stars because they were fun! I love paranormal books and these were fantastic! I only wish there were more than 3. I would like to delve into the characters lives more deeply and see where time leads them. Not fair to only make 3 books C.C. Wood!
I read all three books in this series back to back and I was so glad I did because every time I finished a story I was ready for more.
Raise the Dead is funny, romantic, and suspenseful. Throughout the series I have fallen in love with the characters in this series. The guys are all funny and adorable. The girls in the story are strong, a little off (with the ghost seeing and all lol), and brave.
