How do you chase wildfires without getting burned?
I went to Scotland to learn about the world, I never expected to find love.
Except, the one I’m meant to be with is also the person who hates me the most.
Isla.
Independent and free, like the rolling hills of her beloved Scottish Highlands.
She grew wild, like the heather she loved so much.
I want to cherish her, not own her, because wildfires aren’t meant to be tamed, but allowed to blossom. To burn bright and beautiful, without being held captive.
This story takes us to Scotland and what a trip! The author brings authenticity to this tale however she leaves us wanting more. Ben & Isla are a powerful duo with smarts, looks, and so much more!
WOW! Shame on me for not reading the blurb, prior to starting CHASING WILDFIRE! But what a wonderful surprise to learn that most of the story takes place in Scotland! The author's description of the scenery was so picturesque and the writing of their dialect was amazing and fun. What I really liked though was their thoughts wasn't in their dialect! The story line was so enjoyable that I couldn't put it down and read it in one day! I loved Ben and Isla's story, their personalities and quirks! Truly a fun story to read! Well done Author Lum!
Ben and Isla are fantastic. Chemistry is off the charts and the hate to love relationship is great. The Irish baroque is a little difficult to interpret at times, but my mind started replacing it by itself lol. Ends on a cliffhanger and I can wait to see what happens. Great read
This is my 1st read and review for this author and after reading this story I will be looking out for more from this author. Benjamin ( Ben ) has grown up living a hard life his father ran off so his mother worked two jobs to keep him and his sisters going, Ben met Toby who is from the rich side of town and his family has treated Ben like one of their own. Toby’s father Sebastian is offering Ben to work for him and he will pay Ben’s trip to Scotland to study with the most prestigious professors in Europe for an internship Ben is a bit wary because there’s always a catch and there is and that’s to work for Sebastian’s company at the end of it all and Ben accepts his offer. Ben arrives in Scotland his life has been nonstop since he agreed he’s fallen in love with Scotland and it’s people but he has a hard time understanding the brogue. Isla is from a wealthy family she is the first pick to take part in the visiting business and economics professors study she goes to watch her friends play rugby but there’s a guy on the field who is throwing the ball forward so Isla goes on the field and starts on the player. Ben can’t believe this fiery redhead she is gorgeous but a bit crazy he doesn’t even know how to play rugby. That’s all I’m going to give you guys but this is just the beginning of a fantastic story I also love the Scottish brogue it’s brilliant and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
I will say this up front, I thuroughly enjoyed this novella. The characters were VERY thuroughly developed, even the secondaries. Ben and Ilsa were strong, vibrant, determined, passionate, and both very misunderstood in their own right. Emotional insight was priceless and given from both POV. Once the midunderstandings were cleared, their relationship blossomed. However, when unforceen forces threaten their new love, will they weather the storm? ** Please note, as much as I HATE it, this book ended in a massive cliffhanger. Urgh! At least give the reader a warning that this is only part of the story. As much as I enjoyed the book and the writing, I may not proceed with the next installment (who knows how many will end in cliffhangers and I prefer clear conclusions). I may choose to create my own version of the ending and just let it go. If you, like me, hate cliffhangers ... steer clear. If not, the writing and story are wonderful. That is why I only took 1 star off. It was a gift really because I so enjoyed the rest (especially Ben).

Ben has an incredible opportunity to continue his education in Scotland, something far too good to pass up. Isla comes off as a spoiled rich girl, when in fact she's anything but. He figures out how to push her buttons the moment they meet. They have to spend time together - they have a joint project in class, and her roommate is dating his roommate. She begins let her walls down when she has a traumatic event, and he's the only one she can trust. The author has beautiful descriptions of locations in Scotland - made me feel like I'm there. The characters have amazing chemistry, even when they didn't get along, and I loved seeing the transformation in their relationship. This was a terrific book to read. Right up until the cliffhanger. I'm not a big fan of unfinished stories, and especially not when there's no notification. My reading thoughts today were, what a great book, what a great book, what a great book, what a great book, what the heck was that ending. I will look for the next book, because I truly loved what I read of Ben and Isla so far.

Awhile back this author caught my eye with just a cover. Now after loving what she did in that story I can't stay away from this one. This time we get to travel to the beautiful legendary Ireland. The author offers lots of vivid imagery which makes you experience it's beauty while enhancing the story and showing the pride and love her characters have of it. The story itself is fun yet emotional as these two from very different walks in life meet. If you think their beginning isn't according to the norm then the author will definitely live up to that.
What follows is two growing up while getting to know each other and become more than just flash in school bed mates and move on. That's where this book is different in a wonderful way and what I enjoy about this author. It's a beautiful story that is emotional and sometimes painful but is well written and once again I find myself hooked into a cliff hanger. Now don't get me wrong I am all about a good cliff hanger so I look forward to seeing where this author takes us after she broke the wild in our little Wildfire and we want her fixed.
Ben is ready to secure his future. As a rising junior in college, he’s always watched every dollar. When the opportunity to take classes abroad in Scotland is presented, he has no choice but to jump on it. But what will happen when he meets the enchanting Isla? She’s intelligent, wealthy, fiery, stubborn and absolutely adores her homeland. Can they find a way past each of their preconceived notions of the other? Will Ben find beauty in the land and the girl; and not just expand on his education? Can he have it all? Can Isla bring her walls down and let Ben in? Or will he forever be chasing his wildfire?
Jen Lum did an excellent job in describing the beauty of Scotland and making those all important connections with her characters. The story has all the feels and it’s a book I can 100% reread. Now that’s saying a lot!
Is Chasing Wildfire a standalone? Hmmmmm Happy reading :)
Loved this second full length novel, and third in the series by Jen. Ben and Isla have a chemistry that was amazing from the start. Try as they may to deny it, these two were made for each other. Ben is a strong, business wise college student studying in Ireland. Isla is a beautiful trusting, smart young woman at university in her native Ireland. I loved their flirtatious rapport from the start that only bloomed into a beautiful romance as these two got to know each other even better. Jen Lum has hit her stride as an author. Every book she puts out is better than the one before. Hot, sensitive brooding male character, strong, tenacious female characters! I can’t wait to see what Jen has in store for us in the future!
Ben has a deadbeat dad a mom that worked two jobs to support the family and he wanted to do well to take care of her. Ben takes a trip to Scotland to find himself and what he finds is a girl to love.
But she despises him she is wild and free and doesn’t want to be tangled with him. Islam is one girl he may not be able to have but their chemistry is something else. She gives Ben a run for his money. Lol. But maybe he just can tame her with the power of love. But Ben and Isla’s story is not finished there is going to be more. Yes this story does end in a cliffhanger. I voluntarily received an arc copy through Booksprout for my honest review.
J. definitely made me feel the emotions of Ben and Isla. The storytelling is full of vivid descriptions and takes you mentally away. I enjoyed getting to know Isla, a strongwilled woman who has more layers than an onion.
Ben is attracted to her and you can feel it, it brings a sizzle to your fingertips. Reading CATCHING WILDFIRE is an experience you can't explain. I won't ruin a page of this book but I'll tell you, you will feel it's burn.
I will be reading more from J. Lum. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Chasing Wildfire is basically Ben and Isla’s prequel since these are characters we meet in Forever Love but we don’t find out what their back story is until now. The majority of this book takes place in Scotland and J Lum paints a very detailed picture of the land and the people there. So much so I had a little hard time filling some of the language, then again so did Ben, lol. * Next part might be a slight spoiler so keep reading at your own risk. I did try to give an honest review without giving to much away though. * * * This book is a little slow in my opinion to start off, but I was really excited to see how these 2 become more, around 64% is when it all speeds up. A slow burn, but well worth it, at about 70% it heats up. Like really yummy and swoon worthy. I loved these 2 together and I wanted to scream at the cliffhanger we were left at, since I became so invested in this story, but then remembered Forever love tells us we’re they go. That being said I can’t wait until the next book to see were they really end up.
Okay, so first of all: the story ends with a cliffhanger. You were warned. Other than that it was my first read from this author and it was a very poignant, very strong read. Ben is given an opportunity of a lifetime to study abroad. I liked Ben, he was a very good character, not a big spender, just determined to make something of himself.

This is my first time reading this author and I’m very pleased with choosing this book. The author has done a brilliant job with the use of descriptive writing to set the scene and bring Scotland to life. The plot is great and enjoyable with well-rounded characters. An author for me to look out for in the future.

Ben, Isla, and the massive cliffhanger. The story is so beautiful, the setting is described with so much vividness and vibrancy that you are transported into the world created in the read. The way the relationship and interactions between Ben and Isla evolve is done perfectly.

This story is a wonderfully descriptive story set in Scotland and makes you want to visit the country. The characters of Ben and Isla are well developed and very likable. The storyline is well written and flows nicely. Unfortunately, it ends with an unexpected clliffhanger.

I can't give any less than 5* this book is amazing, the story is so good I couldn't put it down I even found myself reading it with a Scottish accent if that makes sense. Seriously I recommend this book to everyone who loves a really good romantic story with a bit of a cliff hanger.
This is my first read from this author and I will be reading more mostly because this book ends on a huge cliff hanger so I cant wait to see what comes next This was a good well-written book with great characters the chemistry between them was off the charts hot. I enjoyed this book.
4.5 stars I'm hooked and I need my next fixed! Ben and Isla were strong and often misunderstood characters. The author webs a beautiful story with an amazing description of Scotland.

I really enjoyed Ben & Isla's story. Good characters. End on a cliffhanger so can't wait to find out what happens next. A new author for me. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This a wellwritten and fastpaced story that captivated me from the start. The storyline is entertaining and actionpacked. The characters are wonderful. Can not wait for the next book in this series.

I enjoyed getting to know these two. I'm excited that the author let us get to know them from the very beginning of their second chance romance. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Chasing Wildfire is my first book by the author and I loved it. Ben and Isla's story is well written, keeps you engaged and I read it in one sitting. The writing is very descriptive, I could see Scotland and understand why Isla loves it so much. Both characters are strong, determined and know what they want out of life. Their story is a bit sweet but not sugary, it's a great love story with an ending I didn't expect. Great story, wonderful writing, I look forward to getting my hands on what comes next.
