What does salvation mean? What does our redemption in Christ look like? How does it take hold of us? In her clear and engaging style, Natalie Brand looks at why we need rescuing, how Christ’s death and resurrection accomplishes salvation, and how this work is applied to us by the Holy Spirit.

This is an excellent book which clearly explains in layman's terms some theological terms which can be tricky to understand: resurrection, regeneration, justification, adoption and election, to name just a few. The latter is my personal favourite, as getting your head round it can be so difficult and confusing. Natalie's book contains easily the most straightforward and clear explanation I have read to date, reminding us of God's sovereign purposes, and His choice of Jacob over Esau. She also uses some excellent analogies (for example, "doctrine is like Alaska - magnificent!"), and highlights our sense of entitlement, expounding on the mystery of grace. Most importantly, the author emphasises that salvation is a person: the Lord Jesus Christ. Only He is the way, the truth and the life.

This is a helpful book that explores the wonderful doctrine of salvation. Why does a person need salvation? How is that salvation possible? This short book walks through the key elements of salvation and draws the readers attention to the greatest news that this world has ever known; that sinners can be made right with a holy God. In the first section of the book, Brand deals very helpfully with the thorny topic of election right at the beginning, before looking at the fall, the cross and the resurrection. In the second section, Brand talks about union with Christ, calling, regeneration, faith, justification and adoption.
