Recovering from a past lover who really knew how to please me wasn’t easy, but I finally found my way to a happy single life. Not even a gorgeous single dad next door was going to change that, especially one with a possessive ex-wife.
There was no way I would go down the friends to lovers path with that guy!

A divorced, father of 1, retired baseball player moves into an apartment across the street from a kindergarten teacher. On Deck is the journey of 2 people who are still a bit wounded from their break up with their exes. Taking the time to get to know each other while dealing with the exes. It was a sweet romance with very little angst all around. (even with exes)

Can you find your true love living across from you?

On Deck is the first book that I have read by Liz Peters and I quite enjoyed it. The story-line drew me in and I was cheering for these two lonely souls to figure it out and get together for a HEA and I was rewarded at the end.

Laila is a 25 year old kindergarten teacher. She is single after having her long time boyfriend drop and to add insult to injury he called her boring. So she has sworn off me and is concentrating on the new year of school.

Jeremy is a 35 year old retired professional third base man (baseball). He is a divorced (6 months ago) single dad to a 6 year old son. He just about to start a new job as a batting coach for the local AAA baseball team.

Jeremy moves to the city and into an apartment in the same complex as Laila and from the first meeting they are sort of struck with each other. The become friends over several months until the first snowstorm hits with a power outage on top. Let's just say that they generate enough heat that they don't need the power that night. From there things stall but then progress with some twists along the way, Jeremy's ex overstepping and a few other things that have Laila second and third guessing things. However, after an accident in which Laila saves Jeremy's son but is injured herself she learns how to rely on Jeremy and he realizes just how much she means to him. The only question is will they admit their true feeling to each other and build a life together.................well of course that would be a YES!!!

On Deck was a sweet story wonderfully written by Liz Peters with chemistry, sweetness, some drama, steamy and hot passion and a whole lot more.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Ms. Liz Peters newest publication, On Deck, is quite honestly expertly crafted (to me). This is a quick, and hard hitting, romance between a gorgeous man (inside and out) who happens to be newly divorced & an ex-baseball player; Jeremy Nichols and his new neighbor, as well as beautiful & kind hearted, Kindergarten Teacher; Laila Reid. The strength of the storyline and engaging characters draw you right in to the plot and keep you glued throughout. Jeremy just so happens to be a Father to an adorable little 5 year old boy, Jesse. That is okay though, because Lila has no problem relating to children; as she teaches them all day long. However, this little one touches her heart, on an even deeper level and she grows attached to Jesse, just as she does Jeremy. I encourage all fans of wonderfully designed Fiction to read this book. I've only read a few of of Ms. Peters releases and I become more impressed each and every time. Amazing chemistry between these two characters and there are obstacles to overcome which makes their happily ever after even sweeter.

I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of On Deck in exchange for my honest opinion & voluntarily given opinion and I highly recommend reading this book as well as anything written by Ms. Peters.

Laila is a kindergarten teacher she had split up with her ex over 6 months ago but she woke up to a very erotic dream of him this morning, Laila was leaving for work when she saw this gorgeous guy moving in across from her he said good morning then Laila dropped her coffee and it spilled all over her pants great he’s going to think that I’m a real clutz. Jeremy was a pro baseball player but a knee injury helped him to decide to retire early but that didn’t make his wife happy she loved the luxury that Jeremy was able to provide but now he has been divorced for 6 months and his ex wife remarried a week after the papers were signed, but what is more important than the bitterness is his 5 year old son Jesse. Laila made the guy a pie for being so rude this morning but when he opened his door he was only wearing a towel around his waist it shocked Laila into silence and the guy had to click his fingers in front of Laila’s face to stop her from staring. That’s all I’m going to give you guys but this is just the beginning of a wonderful love story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Kindergarten teacher, Laila, was just getting over a heartbreak and settling in to a new single life when Jeremy moves into her apartment complex. He is a single dad with an over bearing ex-wife so as far as she is concerned he needs to stay in the friend category no matter how handsome he is. There are sparks though. Just when things begin to get heated her ex shows up. Talk about complicated.

Wow, what a wonderful contemporary romance. It brought tears to my eyes and pulled at my heart strings. The emotional rollercoaster the amazing characters experienced - well I felt I was right there with them. The characters were well developed and the narrative added to their personalities. Very few times am I moved by a story like I was with this one. It is a truly gifted writer who can give a reader an experience like that. It’s a contemporary love story with hot steamy scenes but more importantly it is about finding yourself and giving yourself to another person. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of friends to lovers Laila and Jeremy. Laila is a kindergarten teacher and had recently broken up with her boyfriend after he cheated on her. When she sees Jeremy for the first time, he is moving into the apartment across the road. Laila was taken by surprise when he spoke to her, she spilled coffee over herself. Laila baked him a pie to apologize for not talking to him and he invited her in. They became friends and soon were spending time together. Jeremy was recently divorced and a former professional baseball player. Jeremy was now a coach with a minor league team and moved to be closer to his son. Jeremy wasn't sure if he was ready for a relationship, but he found himself attracted to Laila. Laila wanted to be with Jeremy, but she didn't think he was interested in her. I really liked this story. I love how they were good friends and how Laila got along with Jeremy's son. Laila seemed to lack in confidence at first, but being with Jeremy was good for her. Good one.

Jeremy is getting over a divorce and a career change when he moves into his new apartment. His next door neighbor Laila is fresh off a breakup and is afraid of not being enough again. These two start out as neighbors that become friends and soon their feelings toward one another strengthen into a relationship. However both are dealing with the after math of bad exes and are afraid to get hurt by the other. Love doesn't really care though and soon this couple is inseparable. Life however is never that easy and with a meddling ex boyfriend and territorial ex wife these two have their work cut out for them on order to get their hea they so rightly deserve. This book was sweet and steamy. A perfect balance of what it's like in the real world to fall in love.

ONE AMAZING RIDE!!!
Ah fudge nuggets! Liza packs a punch with this raging storyline and explosive plot that brings this bad boy to life wonderfully. Twists and turns propel all your spinning emotions into play with a whirling vortex of unbelievable events that rock this baby to the core. Filled with all the drama, uncertainty and suspense that add a little spice to the mix. This is one action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, page turning engaging delight that holds your attention from start to finish. The characters are authentic, relatable and realistic with depth and qualities that bring their personalities out to play. The scenes are so vividly detailed it gives the illusion you're right there in middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Liza, thanks for sharing this jewel with us.

What does a retired baseball player have in common with a kindergarten teacher? Actually, quite a lot.
Liz Peters has written another sweet love story - this one mainly takes place in an apartment complex. It’s not just love between Laila and Jeremy but also includes his son Jesse. New relationships can be difficult especially when you add in kids and an ex-wife. So Laila and Jeremy have their ups and downs but to manage a “happy for now” ending both have to be willing to make concessions. The author has hit this one out of the park!

A sweet romance. Jeremy and Laila were a couple who had issues with their previous ex's.

This was a rather benign story. Nothing to get you excited or give you that sense of anticipation. Even with the big moment, or the moments with both ex's, it stayed just a really nice romance.

A very sweet, very calm, kind romance that was also a quick read. No real heat between the H and h, but you could tell they liked and respected one another.

3.5

Not the best book I've read. The story was sweet and although only a novella it was a little dull. I find the writing style not the most interesting too. More about the emotions and feelings singularly of the characters than the interactions between the two. The book had the capacity to be so much more, seemingly one dimensional rather than three. I've read other books from this Author and been more satisfied however don't get me wrong still a good story and worth the read.
This book was an ARC and this is my honest review.

On Deck is a Great quick read by Liz Peters. The characters are well developed making it easy to identify with both Laila and Jeremy. They both have decided to give up on love and concentrate on other things. Laila has decided it's her career; for Jeremy, it's his son. I have been in both their shoes.

Their meeting and story is unique and and fun to watch. It is a very enjoyable read, giving all the feels even in a short package. I will keep this on my Kindle to read again when I need something quick and fun to read.

Super romantic, sweet loving, single dad and kindergarten teacher story full of honest feelings. Couldn't be better. Jeremy is an injured big league baseball player. He could no longer play for the big league so he took a job coaching a triple-A team. Jeremy moved onto the same complex as Laila, a kindergarten teacher. They began seeing each other and facing problems with his ex-wife and her ex-boyfriend. Both began having second thoughts about their relationship. An incident occurred which made Jeremy know exactly how their future had to be. I highly encourage you to read On Deck by Liz Peters.

This was short but sweet. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down until I finished.
Two people meet when they both absolutely needed to. Laila is a kindergarten teacher and fresh out of a long time relationship, while Jeremy is divorced and moving his life to a new city. They become fast friends, but all the while fight an attraction to each other. There are ups and downs, an accident and ex's to deal with, but they get their HEA!

An ex injured baseball player and a kindergarten teacher bring a cute, sweet story with a bit of drama from the ex's.

The mix of themes was blended just right from Liz. Jeremy, Laila and Jeremy's son Jesse were fun to get to know. It's romantic and fun. I'm a fan of when that spark meets the gasoline and we see the fire between them turn to a full on blaze. Liz wrote that moment just right.

This was a nice, simple, relatively short romance. I liked the characters, and the plot was very straight-forward, which made it easy to read. There was no overt melodrama and everything seemed to flow naturally. Sometimes reading a book like this is like wrapping yourself in a cozy sweater or floating down a river; it’s just a nice brain break. When you read as much as I do, books like this are refreshing. 3.5 stars. This review was written based on a complimentary pre-release digital ARC.

This book is a great summer read. Quick but with substance. I liked that Jeremy and Laila didn't just jump into bed right away. I enjoyed the getting to know you/friends aspect of it. I'm not a huge fan of kids in books but it helped to bring Jeremy and Laila together. Overall good book!

This was a great book! Jeremy and Laila were wonderful characters! This was a friends to lovers romance novel. Neither Jeremy or Laila were looking for love but it happened. Both came from bad relationships and had actually sworn off dating. Jeremy was divorced and had a six year old son, Jesse. Through a chain of events, even if it's not wanted love will make a way.
