Dark Blue Sea by Shruti Rathi is a collection of delightful poems which uses metaphors to express the discovery of the real self. It is divided into three parts and while all of them were good, the third one turned out to be my favorite.

The poems are short, easy, and contemplative. They focus on life, living, desires, love, emotions, self-exploration, passion through a meticulous weaving of words. In the tapestry of Dark Blue Sea, you’ll find all the important and beautiful beads. Poems have a way with the human heart and with a correct application, one could reap excellent results. The author has beautifully carved an image of all what she wants to convey through the book. The cover itself is visually appealing.

‘I breathe.

I release my boundaries. I redefine me.

I breathe and I breathe free.’

This was my favorite out of all. Also, the author has put forth the responsibility we own for ourselves. As she says,” I am the tormentor of my own journey, How do I make it to the end of the sea?” I was truly moved by this expression. The book has a certain depth to offer you. So, if you like to indulge in contemporary poetry which is light and decent, you may pick this one up!

Dark blue sea by shruti rathi is the collection of mesmerising poems. the book is published by notion press and the book is 221 pages long. the book consists of four sections. the first one is dark, the second one is blue, the third is song, and the fourth is sea.

The dark section consists of poems about separation, pain, anger, fear, grief, rejection, guilt, shame & topics like this. it felt like the poems had literally come out of the heart. the poem & prose were so deep and delightful to read.

The blue section consist of my most favourite section from this book. it felt like these poems were written for me. it gave me so much motivation, inspiration and strength to deal with situations. the poems were about the choices we made, self discovery, accepting pain, lessons, prayers, and many more.

The songs section consist of mostly long poems and my most favourite poem in this section was 'the manifesto of letting go". I was so impressed and inspired by this poem that it become one of my most favourite.

The sea section consists of general musings about the world, earth, stars, language, identity, life, divinity, stone, ice, universe, nature, man, elements and many more. the sea section covers most of the vast topics of nature.

Overall, I really liked this book. the poems were so perfect and I even got spellbound after reading some of the poems, the poems were so raw and pure. the language was also decorative and easy to understand. I would really like to read other works by this poetess. and if you haven't read this book, do it now cause you are missing on one of the amazing poetry book.

I have read a genuine collection of poems after such a long time and it feels so good. I couldn’t relate to all the poem sin the collection because the poems felt very personal and intimate; and I guess that is the risk you take when you write poems about self realisation because everybody has different experiences with it. I enjoyed myself the most while reading the last segment of the book. There are poems about almost every emotion you can think of, every element, and it’s crafted beautifully. The writing style is simple, it doesn’t meet the highest standard of poetry but it is sweet. This collection is very pure, the thoughts and feeling are unadulterated. The cover is absolutely gorgeous, I know it’s nothing much but it is just so easy on the eyes. Considering that the book was a debut, great work, Can’t wait for more works by the author.

Dark Blue Sea is a wonderful anthology of almost 100 long and short poems piercing the heart of the readers. The main theme of the poems are self-discovery and they go through sub-themes of exploration, self-love, spirituality, and various human emotions.

The book is divide into three parts, making up to the Book title:
* Dark: It deals with the dark parts of our lives- pain, heartbreak, depression, anxiety.
*Blue: It is the choice that we make that define us. This section covers the discovery part.
*Sea: The ultimate purpose is to dive into the sea of serenity and divine. The poems here talk about peace.

The poems are written in rather easy language that can be understood by anybody. They are fast paced but ignites the fire of thoughts in your brain. The words penned downed by the author are felt and understood in every way.

Have you ever felt sad after reading just one word from a book ? Does it feel like you are connected to that book very deeply ?
Every single word refresh some memories of your past which you want to bury . Do you now want to read that book ?
But when you actually did after a lot of try , you felt renew, rebirth. You felt like you did overcome your obstacle (those memories) which you don’t want to remember. At that moment you became STRONG .
This book is beautiful collection of 100+ poems each raw and touched my heart .
It’s divided in 3 part – Dark, blue and sea.
These poems are about fear, jealousy, discovery , achievement and many more life problems and overcoming also about nature.
Poems are rhythmic .language is very simple . Every poem is described perfectly with little words and rhyme .
A must read for poem lover , looking forward to read more books from her .

*I received this book as a review copy for a fair and unbiased review*

Reading this collection of poems was like finding an old diary in the attic. The poems are deeply personal and touching. I was able to read them all in one sitting mostly because they are short poems written with minimal layering.
They aren't very high on the craft of poetry. You may not be able to enjoy them as you enjoy a traditional piece of poem. One is reminded of the primary purpose of a poem which is to free language from the burden of words. In that sense, they have an appeal.
I have purposefully not rated the book because to put it under the points' system would be to put it under an unnecessary scanner. You do not give stars to personal diaries or poetry.
Most of the poems are about the author's metaphysical journey. A lot of the thoughts sound inspired from the Hindu way of living. The thoughts are stated as they are. There is no beating around the bush. Words are used for their primary purpose which is to convey meaning. Craftsmanship, which might be an overrated virtue anyway, shows up sparingly in the collection.
Yet, the poems have something about them. You do not want to recite these lines in an assembly of people. You want to curl up in your bed and read them and smile. You identify with the philosophy and you immediately like the innocence that comes with them.
The dark blue sea here is a metaphysical and mystical entity. In certain parts, the author talks about how objects are unreal while true emotions are real. It may sound like psychobabble if you are not in the right mood. But if you let the lines sink in, they age well.

The initial few poems are quite dark. The themes of anger, pain, sadness are pretty straightforward. It would have been nicer if the reader was trusted a bit more. The reason for the author's emotional rollercoaster rides are not explained.

If you take the poems chronologically as they appear in the book, it loosly ties up as somewhat of a story. The beginning is sad. Something disheartening has happened and all hope is lost. The middle is about realization. It liberates the author. She sprouts wings. And the end is about the rhythm of the universe. It is more spiritual and personal. The journey is pretty vague so, I am sure, if you give it time, it will start feeling like your own journey.

Notionpress have done a good job with the quality. There are no typographical errors and the pages are nice and crisp. The font is pretty and does not distract. The font size is easy on the eye. Some more design features may have improved the book (hint: Rupi Kaur, Milk And Honey).

As a first book, this is an impressive debut. Long way to go!

I am not a fan of traditional poetry and don’t read poems that often but the blurb of this book definitely looked interesting and hence I picked it up! After finishing this book I was pleased as this collection of poems by Shruti Rathi made a really good read.
Written in a simple language, the poems are divided in 3 parts as Dark, Blue and Sea, named after the title of the book. The poems are short and bring out a whole array of emotions. The poet also talks about the various forces of nature.
The lines bring out the emotions that the poets wanted to express and I really enjoyed reading this collection of poems.
Since the language is simple and the lines rhythmic and easy to follow, I did not feel bored reading poems after poems and hence was able enjoy it as well finish it fast.
This book of poems is good in another way that I am sure to pick it up again sometime to reread them. Some of them are really so thought provoking!
The cover is beautiful and depicts the contents of the book.
Some of my favorites from this collection are – Fear [pg-45],Grief [pg-47],Abandoned pieces[pg -79],Absence[pg-107],Poetry [pg-147],The earth is living [pg-173]
Overall, a lovely collection of poems that will be enjoyed by all, including the ones like me who are really not into the traditional form of poetry.

One of the few poem books on the review list, and definitely among the young poets of the literature here making the name. The book and poems inked are a lot about nature, individual feeling, heartbreak, love, and many more emotions entangled together. The poems are short and contemplating.

This book is a collection of more than 100 beautiful poems divided into three sections –
Dark
Blue
Sea

It is not about just reading the book in one go, but one can pick this book anytime and read through those lines written in the form of poetry. The beauty about poetry is it connects your soul to the words, rather than connecting to some fictional characters from the plot. The way Shruti has projected the connection between nature and self has been incredible. The sea and plethora of emotions has been the key guide to this beauty.

Some of my favorite lines from the books:

"The fire in your heart is
magic unknown"
"All will be dust that was once clay
Love is the only thing that'll stay"
"All of nature seeks its soul
aligning itself with its goal"
"wrecking damage like a tsunami
screaming aloud, that is Angry"

Then, of course, these lines are not just enough and I can end up writing some more lines from the poems. However, the top three poems that I love are: Desire is a seed, Holding on and Letting Go, and Turbulent Senses.

It is a collection of poems divided into 3 parts: Dark, Blue and Sea.
‘Dark’ speaks of pain, sorrow, depression, resentment, regret, remorse, undesirability, anger and a series of other negative emotions.
‘Blue’ starts off with the concept of making things right and ends with the vibe of ‘a phoenix rising from the ashes’, It puts force on taking a break, making choices, rediscovering yourself to the point where you feel the self-love you deserve.
‘Sea’ takes of feeling serene and alive, much like the sea itself. It puts emphasis on discovering yourself, finding your calling, your muse, perceiving the world and witnessing the divinity and liveliness of the universe around you.
I really liked the concept, how the book has the potential to show the journey and various decisions of someone who has stuck their lowest. The dots connect to form a wave of emotions.
Some poems are really well written and definitely something to add to your collection. However, I felt some parts were repeated too much and maybe the idea was to emphasize on them, but it felt like a bit of lazy writing to me in some poems.
Overall, the book is good. I really enjoyed reading it. A hint of warning here: if you are feeling low and/or depressed, avoid reading the first part. Rest assured, it’s amazing!

Dark Blue Sea by shuti rath.
I guess she is one of the best poet i have ever read a book of. There are shot poems and then there are long ones too but all of them with some great meaing.

Poety has a great thing in it, what? One can relate to it the way they want to and it will be beautiful always. And so is with the poems in this book. One can easily realte to them easily understand the feeling. One more thing about the book "vocabulary" like there are a lot and a lot of new words the author is defintly having a great bank of vocabulary and she gifting most of it to us in her book.

Talking about what kind of peoms the book is having....so it just the name of the book is 3 parts of it. Dark, Blue and Sea.

Dark is basically poems based on the Pain, breakdowns, grief, sorrow and nearly evey kind of negivtive emotion one gets

Blue talks about the new start this is what i feel blue is full of the poems related to a new beinging, new start, transferring to positivity from the negativity.

Sea is just telling you about the feeling of living the life to the fullest. Like for the last part i don't have words more than this just beacuse that's one of the best part.

If you can really feel what author wants to say. Reading the poems under Sea will give you a broad smile definatly

Dark Blue Sea is a poetic book by Shruti Rathi. It has a collection of about 95+ long and short poems, each being different and unique from the other. The book is divided into 3 sections viz Dark, Blue, and Sea. The poems cover almost every human emotions and natural elements. The vision and the thoughtfulness of the poet is commendable.

The poems are well rhymed and also follow some of the basic rules of poetry. Self discovery, forgiveness and self love can be taken as its central theme.

My favourite poem from section first is Salt: Pain; Accepting Pain from second and Nothing Lasts from the last. The book might look fat with about 220 odd pages but the soulful poems makes it a really short read. Language and vocabularies used are simple and reader friendly.

The cover looks beautiful and attractive. Title resonates well with the sections of its content. The gravity of its poem can be felt just by reading the blurb. The idea of including one of the best poem on it does magic in attracting a reader.

I'd be highly recommending it to people fond of poetries. This book contains some very magically crafted poem and thus needs to be read.

It's a beautiful collection of poems. It contains more then 100 poems in it. And all of it are further divided into three sections and named after the title of the book that is Dark, Blue and Sea. All the writings in this book will mesmerized you. You can feel whatever the poet has penned down in it. The main theme of the book is self realization. Other then that there are elements of self love, spirituality, self discovery. It also deals with different human emotions which will led you to a whole new world.

It's a must read for the poetry lovers. I'm looking forward to read more from the author. The language is moderately easy to understand even for the beginners. I have finished within two days only, as it's a fast paced. But one should read it slowly to better understanding of the verses written out there and to emphasize it. The cover of the book is what I didn't liked, it could have been better, though the title seems fascinating. Yes would surely recommend for a light short read.

"Dark Blue Sea"
By SHRUTI RATHI.

This book is a collection of poems that are related to love, humanity, spirituality, self love etc.
I really love how this book is beautifully organised. The book is divided into 3 sections named DARK, BLUE and SEA. All the poems have an easy flow and they all are connected to each other.

While reading it you can have personal connection with the words in the book. You will feel like as if it came directly from the heart of the writer and you can actually connect with the emotions she wants to convey through this book. This book was so engrossing that it kept me hooked till the very end.

It took me about 35 minutes to finish it.

The language of the book is super easy and lucid.

As a poetry lover, I know how hard it is for the writer to keep a reader engrossed till the very end, but the author did justice with this book making it exceptionally good.

P.S. this book is full of poetry that will lead you to self discovery. This is a debut novel of Shruthi Rathi and I am looking forward to reading more from her.

Dark Blue Sea!

A beautiful collection of poetry by Shruti Rathi that gonna touch cords of your heart.

I really enjoyed all the poems. Simplicity of words, use of rhythmic words add on extra charm to her poem.

It was fun to read to every poem and to connect with each and every emotion, feeling that poetess wants to signify through her poetry.

Right from wandering thoughts, pain, anger, desire, fear, guilt, desperation, rejection to rise, explore, pray, inner calling, she has beautifully expressed her thoughts into words.

How to let go things, surrender completely, new beginnings are certain poems that gonna inspire you.

She has also penned down poems on nature, earth, stars, air which reflects beautiful observation of poetess.

It's so difficult to portray all these observations, desires, emotions and all these intricate details in form of words. I must say she has done a commendable job.

I would recommend poetry lovers to read this amazing book.

This book is divided into three parts - Dark, Blue and Sea.

In Dark section poems are related to the emotions of a person like Desire, Anger, Fear, Grief and Pain.

Blue Section has poems with themes of Self Discovery, Self Motivation, Liberty and Freedom.

Sea has poems describing elements of Earth, Cosmic and Universe.

Review-

All the poems have kind of an easy flow to it. Each poem is inter connected as well as can be read independently. So the whole book has a certain theme to it and grips you till the end.

I personally like poems which are complex, a little bit complicated and can be analyze in more than one way. The first and second part fulfills this criteria but the third part is comparatively weak.

I was more connected and moved by the starting of the book and hence expected more towards the end. But overall it is a beautiful book and I totally recommend to all the poetry lovers.

Dark Blue Sea

Author: Shruti Rathi

Pages: 222

Genre: poetry

Publisher: Notionpress.com

Review:

The Dark Blue Sea is the debut novel of Shruti Rathi. This beautiful collection of poems are connected to human feelings and self-discovery. Book is divided into three parts: 1) DARK 2) BLUE and 3) SEA

Poems are short and easy to comprehend. At times the poems are sad and depressing but they reveal real human emotions. The author has penned down undefinable emotions; ones those are hard to express. It is so well written that one can totally related to oneself.

Poetry lovers will definitely love this book.

One of my favorite from the collection is:

I have a knife,

I call it me,

It separates things carefully.

It slices my thoughts,

Gives them shape,

It dissects my life, with sharp blades.

It carves, it sculpts,

It designs my world.

It chooses, it picks,

It builds, it yearns.

Dark Blue Sea by Shruti Rathi

"I release the hate that resides in me
I release the shame that derides me
I release the anger that misaligns me
I release the anxieties that undermine me
I release my boundaries. I redefine me."
🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
An excerpt from this aesthetically beautiful poetry book! The book is divided so well in to sections of the Dark, the blue and the sea, correlated to the title.
Not so that the first part is a journey to the different emotions of losing oneself leading to the second part blue of liberation and rebirth of oneself. The third part sums up the journey between the dark blue with the nature connect.
🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃
The poems are short, relatable and very very quotable, the balance in the book is very soothing and the cover just enhances the sense of peace. Although not much of a modern poetry reader, I enjoyed this book a fair bit mostly because of the interlinks and the journey like flow of the book.

Dark blue sea

When a person learns to feel love, he must also bear the risk of feeling hate.

This is a very nice poetry book which has been written in a good way. The cover has been designed very well. The bluish torquoise look gives a nice intricate touch to it.

The book has been divided into 3 parts mainly:
1. Dark
2. Blue
3. Sea
The blue part has another subcategory - 'the songs' which further has 13 poems & additional 4 poems. They amplify & give a very nice touch to it in overall.

The book is a succulent of emotions & they keep amplifying with each poem. They're a culmination of various emotions embedded together in the form of a book. I liked the metaphorical usage of verses. I also liked the idea of rhymes introduced at certain places - though I expected much more of it. The poems traverses from human emotions, self-love, spirituality, inspiration & feelings. However, I felt many of them can be improvised. Overall, a good onetime read.

Dark blue sea is a collection of poems focusing on pain, love, healing and self- reflections.

The language was easy going and lucid. The cover and the title are appropriately chosen keeping in mind the interest and curiosity of a reader.

The concept behind some poems was really a thoughtful one!

The poet has a very nice and engaging writing style, along with providing a great narration for the poems.

The poems were very well developed. I could connect with them very well.

They will take you on an emotional journey & down your memory line.

Overall, this was a collection of very interesting and emotional poems. Pick it up if you want to get into reading poetries.

OPINION-
Divided into 3 parts -
Dark,Blue and Sea
It's a collection of around 100 poems deoicting the metamorphical journey of self discovery. Seeped on mysticism, the verses have thought provoking ideas and evocative imagery.
All the poems have a certain aura of mysteriousness around it. Many touching elements like hope, love, sea, life and elements of nature.
One thing I noticed was how the next poem started with the word the previous one ended. It happened few times and the presentation amazed me. The language is pretty simple and easy to understand.
I don't think I need to explain why I love the cover. It's simply gorgeous. And the title is mystic and beautiful just like the poems within.
The poems written in a modern way with no particular rhythm. I also love how all the poems have a specific title for them.
About the author-
Shruti grew up watching the incessant eaves and glistening sunsets from her childhood bedroom window when she started writing poetry. A romantic at heart, she found her true calling in the magical world of words. Her poems are inspired by human emotions, the nature, the cosmos and spirituality.

🌀 The cover of the book is wow! I must say it is eye-catchy and so the title is.
🌀 Plot
The book elaborates about dreams, thought provoking ideas, hope,self-discovery in a form of poems which are divided into three parts
Dark
Blue
Sea
All three have poems beautifully pen down by the author.
To me poetry is somewhat a difficult genre to understand and relate that's why I gave it 3.5/5 ⭐ because the manner in which the poems are penned down is good but I could not relate to it personally.
🌀 Narration:
Narration was good, vocabulary was a bit tough, the way the author has portraited every aspect of life in a poetical form.
