Aiki lives in Brisbane, Australia, with her husband, (Ernest), teenage son (Leonidis - not their real names, obviously), aging dog and directionally-challenged fish.
In between being a wife, running a business full-time and helping Leonidis with homework, she squeezes in a few hobbies, including:
Martial arts, painting, writing, reading, bellydancing and playing three or four musical instruments. Occasionally she even sleeps. Very occasionally.

I picked this up not really knowing what to expect, but as a fan of short stories I knew there was bound to be something I liked in this anthology. The broad range of genres working on the same themes (earth, fire, air and water) really worked, and the fact that there was a good mix of genres (fantasy, dystopian, contemporary, etc) made me eager to read the next story. There is also some excellent world-building in the fantasy stories and I'll look out for these authors in the future.
It is rare to find an anthology that works all the way through. I thought this collection was wonderful. Kudos to the editor as well, for doing a superlative job.

Some of the stories are about the mystical, and magical, derived from witches and mages. Others from disasters cyclones, and the mess people create within their lives.

Of the four stories in the 'Earth section', Lyne Lumsden-Green wrote 'Strange Topaz Sheep'. This is about a woman passionate about her small unique herd of sheep. I loved the twist at the end and the blossoming romance it suggested.

In the 'Air Section' my most memorable story was 'The Eye of the Storm', written by Sam Brown. It's about how the pressure of life can make a couple choose extreme solutions. It's set in Darwin in the middle of Cyclone Tracey.

The 'Fire Section' with a very quirky story which I loved, 'One Hell of a Trip' by Georgia Willis. Lizzy has three elemental dogs and one more called Bruce was missing. Her friend was 'scrying' for him. When she found him she rang to tell Lizzy Bruce was in Hell. She wasn't looking forward to taking the trip to get him back, but she had to do it. Would her mother help her get in and out of Hell safely?

The 'Water Section' has several great stories, it's hard to pick the best from my point of view. 'Hide the Moon' by Annie Bucknall is enchanting. A family confronting death and secrets. Amy was her daughter but she had hidden a terrible secret from her. Frank, loved her but he was withdrawing rather than confronting the truth. Would she be strong enough to tell Amy the truth? 'Water Music' by Megan Badger is about a miss-fit family, a beautiful violin played badly by Terjei's father, and the boy's longing to learn to play. He found a way in the forest with a water sprite. The discovery of his true parentage changes his life.

Anthologies are a great way to read different writing styles. This is one well worth reading.

An eclectic collection of stories. I know I'm biased but there really are some fantastic stories with something for everyone. Great for short trips on the train or a weekend away read.

Enchanting choice of diverse writing from an engaging bunch of authors.

Neil Gaiman may have had Elemental In mind when he wrote
“Short stories are tiny windows into other worlds and other minds and other dreams. They are journeys you can make to the far side of the universe and still be back in time for dinner.”

Many of the stories in this collection have a feel of being lifted from such a larger story. D A Kelly fantasy The Jig's back door opens the collection and makes you want to learn more of the wider world. Aiki Flinthart's In every reign a little life must fall a testament to her world building skills hints a fascination history hinted in the self contained tale. If a world at war with a whiff of daring do then just the action in Susan Ruth's Something in the Air

The collection has something for everyone, if its a post most unusual apocalypse with a mystery JA Henderson's Moving in a mysterious way has you covered. If you like your stories with a hint of the infernal then Georgia Well's offers One hell of trip.

The point is that each tale is crafted and the multiple styles, genres and types of story mean something for everyone.

Get reading.

An amazing, diverse collection of stories like no other. DA Kelly, Aiki Flinthart, and Ted Johnson kept me on the edge of my seat with breathless action. J.A. Henderson and Sam Brown had me reading at the speed of light just to find out more. My heart broke as I read stories from Jo Seysener, Annie Bucknall and Caitlyn McPherson. Cass Cooper left me looking for my next romance to read, in need of more steamy action. There is truely a story for everyone in Elemental!

There is definitely something for everybody in this anthology with the great range of genres and writing styles. I know I'm reading good writing when I have to cover the next lines with my bookmark so I don't skip ahead. This book had me doing that.
