A really excellent, and deceptively detailed, macchinetta on operaismo, as a method and style of militancy rather than as a political orthodoxy. Distinguishing it from the duplicitous 'post-operaismo', Roggero meticulously describes the politics of this method through a history and lineage of its practice in the 1960s and 70s, and beyond in some parts, such Guido Borio's essay on Alquati. There were many lightbulb moments reading this - where something I had been wondering or grappling with suddenly made the clearest sense through their writing. The book's explanation of Alquati's 'modellone' and the militant of the 'middle range' was one such example of where this occurred. There were however sections where Roggero speaks with what feels like a dangerous sense of certainty; particularly in describing the 'isolated' path the operaisti collective must follow.
(on a personal note, this is the first book I've read cover-to-cover in Italian - hopefully that didn't take away too much from my understanding of the content!)
