Mieke is a workaholic detective that drowns herself in work, so she doesn't deal with her father's death. She stumbles on a mysterious sphere that has a whole community of inhuman-like creatures with powers fighting over it. If that sphere falls on the wrongs hands, it could mean enslavement, even death for the entire human race. Every human will be at the mercy of these vampires. The only thing that can help humankind is taking a leap of faith and make alliances where least expected.
Take Underworld + Blade + neo noir vibes, and you have the start of what Reign of Darkness offers. Fast paced, interlaced, and shifting First Person POVs means that you're always in the thick of it all, each section with its distinctive feel and tone. Think Dan Brown, without Robert Langdon but with plenty of vampires and various types of vampires at that. This is not a one size fits all equation, it has shapeshifters, shadow manipulators, day walkers, ancient vampires, newborns, and more. ER Landron definitely sets the stage of what can be a hefty series with endless twists, surprises, and complications. With a healthy dose of diversity, representation always feels natural, using various languages to convey authentic variety.
The bodycount is as high as the tension, so if you like books with plenty of action, more than one decapitation, and all sorts of danger, then check this one out.

One of the best books I have read this month! Highly recommend it! I only leave positive feedback and reviews when I love the book.If your depressed in life read it, if you are feeling low read this, if you are worried read this, if you have no happiness read this, in fact you have to read this book for your life. Feel free to ask anything regarding this book. A must read for sure.
I really liked this fast paced urban fantasy. It may be a little tricky to follow the lead at the beggining since we are from page one all over the place in different POVs. But once you get the hang of it it becomes intriguing with short chapters to keep you reading "one more chapter" until you end it. 😂
Kokolite and the cat clan got my heart. I hope to get more knowledge of them in the next book. Everything happens so fast yet so detailed, loved it. Anxious to read the next one.

In a world where the supernatural hides behind human routines, the elites are secretly controlled by the Children of the Moon—creatures of darkness that are anything but harmless. Mieke, a former FBI agent, leaves the agency after the death of her father—also an agent—moves in with her sister, and joins the police force. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she investigates the mysterious case of a shipwreck at the pier, carrying historical artifacts bound for a museum. This investigation leads her into a shadowy world that threatens to turn her life into a nightmare… and perhaps succeeds.
The universe E.R. Landrón presents is dark yet captivating. He invites us to dive into a world filled with vampires who no longer hide only in the night, but also behind masks—both abstract and literal—whose true nature we are only beginning to uncover. Here, the central conflict isn’t the blood that typically clouds the image of vampires, but rather a complex web of political tensions and the impact they have on the human reality that these creatures secretly govern.
The author explores topics such as power struggles between clans and worlds, political disputes, loss, grief, night creatures, ambition, and circumstantial alliances. These elements shape the evolution of some characters and the downfall of others. External conflicts trigger violent actions, while internal battles lead to decisive choices.
It’s a fast-paced, easy-to-read novel that serves up a feast seasoned with action, intrigue, fiction, and unresolved mysteries—clearly not limited to a single course. Landrón makes it clear that there’s much more to savor in this universe.
This story is perfect for readers seeking an entertaining experience that also offers a fantastical version of their own reality—one they wouldn’t want to live in, but will enjoy exploring through the page. If there’s one thing I took from this reading, it’s that villains can be just as human as anyone else, and within that humanity, they may choose to be the bad guys again and again. In fact, I realized that what truly kills our humanity isn’t fangs or a thirst for blood, but the ambition for a power some believe they have the right to claim.

✨ Book Review: Reign of Darkness by E.R. Landrón ✨
When I picked up Reign of Darkness, I wasn’t expecting the world I was about to dive into—it completely took me by surprise! E.R. Landrón crafts a fictional universe that feels both fresh and immersive, pulling the reader into a dark, action-packed adventure.
The story follows a gripping battle between light and darkness, where characters must navigate a world filled with danger, power struggles, and unexpected alliances. What makes this book stand out are the unique touches of comics embedded within the narrative, adding a dynamic and visually engaging layer to the storytelling. It’s a blend of fantasy, suspense, and heroism that keeps you turning the pages.
If you’re looking for a book that brings a different twist to the genre, Reign of Darkness is definitely worth the read! A fascinating and unexpected journey awaits.
I’m impressed, is written with basic english and it was easy and very fluent lecture, full with action and not simple vampires. I felt in love with the story once the author started to complicate it with a lot of clans. That made me interested in keep my eyes on it. This book also have very short chapters that helps the reader read faster and avoid getting bored.
I have two favorite characters that I fell in love with: Kokolite and Hannah. Both with such different personalities, but with a kind heart. They kept me laughing during the reading with their witticisms. (I had to google that word) I recomend this book for ages 14 and up.
Amazingly woven like an interesting spell. I didn't thought this book will going to be this good. It was , as you might expect , engaging , a total different piece of art from every aspect. It sets a very high bar for whatever he does that comes next. Must Read
