When I started this book it was clear that this was focused more towards absolute beginners in EQ. I would strong suggest intermediate and advanced experience readers with Emotional Intelligence pursuit something vastly more in depth. I didn’t take stars away for that reason. But there were two factors that were either incorrect or lacking inclusion. First the book mentions in several areas that use of electronics and devices harm Emotional Intelligence. These older theories have been disproven or clarified more effectively by credible agencies such as the NIH and even multiple Harvard Medical School papers. These publishes studies re-clarify that more specifically social media addiction negatively affects EQ. People whom effectively use electronics for efficient communication and college/university studies show no negative effects (and people should not be alarmed, lol).
The second issue was the glaring lack of inclusion. The book is heavily hetero-normative when it talks about relationships. It’s the 21st century, and whether repressive political/religious agencies like it or not, healthy same-sex/non-binary/trans relationships are occurring all over the world. The days of incorrect assumptions are over, and much like sexism and racism, people will not allow to be repressed or ignored.
All of this aside, you will find a simple narrative 'guide' that explains step by step concepts like:
Observing How You Feel, Paying Attention to How You Behave, Managing Your Negative Emotions, Practicing Empathizing with Yourself and Others, Using A Positive Style of Communication, Creating A Positive Environment and Bouncing Back from Adversity, Desiring to Help Others and Yourself Succeed, and Emotional Intelligence as a Lifetime Process. All of these were taken directly from the book. It’s an easy read, and it covers explanations and philosophies basically and accessibly. It’s definitely not the “most complete blueprint” as the cover promises, but its still helpful. 3.5 stars

The book gives you an introduction to emotional intelligence. Some common facts are given too. Not so good. There is no tips to improve EQ.
